Why the Owner Chose AvonI recently purchased this home in August of 2011 (2 weeks prior to hurricane Irene!). I fell in love with this house, its charm, and location. I bought this property as a family home for myself, friends, nephews, siblings, etc. Interestingly, I have recently had correspondences from families that have visited this property for their vacations, some for several years. They expressed an interest to continue their tradition of renting this home. Their enthusiasm and the magic of this area are what inspired me to offer for rent.
The Unique Benefits at this HouseThis house is set back on a private residential street located directly on the Sound in Avon. It is convenient to the beaches, kiting and wind surfing spots, restaurants and shopping.

Hi! My name is Alison and I have been frequenting the Outer Banks for the past 10 years. Recently, I had the opportunity to purchase this house. I fell in love with this area. I am an avid kite boarder and was thrilled to find a sound front location that I could kite-in and out with my friends and family. I travel a lot for my work and consider this home my escape. This was our 4th trip to OBX and we luckily stumbled across a hidden gem a.k.a "The Blue Dog". This is the quintessential beach house framing out the main attraction the water. A nature lovers paradise with a fire pit waterside, large deck, outside shower, BBQ, launched right from the dock was fantastic! Smooth transaction, clean, easy, and simply no stress. This house has character, charm, and beauty a "mega house" will never offer, plus why do you need a movie room at a beach house. If you have any questions please get my contact information from the owner and I will be glad to give a reference. Great time had by all we will be back next year and hopefully maybe a trip this year again.

We had an amazing trip in the Outer Banks and loved the Blue Dog! The house was clean and comfortable and so convenient to the beaches and restaurants. Cafe` 12 had great food if you want to grab a sandwich after playing at the beach, but we preferd to buy a fresh catch at one of the local seafood markets and cook at the house... you don't want to miss sunset -spectacular views! We did a lot of kayaking and launching right off the dock with steps leading into the sound was a dream - it really couldn't have been any easier. Star gazing at night around the outdoor fire was another one of my favorite highlights! It's unbelievable the amount of stars you see. The house was clearly built for maximum enjoyment of the natural beauty surrounding it. We were so sad to go. This will definitely be an annual trip for us. Thanks Blue Dog!
