Our family had the great pleasure of staying at John and Shana's beautiful cottage for 2 weeks. There were 6 adults staying there and we found that we had more than enough space to relax and enjoy all the amenities that the cottage had to offer.Relaxing on the wrap around deck or heading down to the dock to enjoy the great swimming or try out the slide . If you wanted to be in the sun or shade you had that choice down by the water or on the deck. The location of the cottage was peaceful and quiet,if you needed anything it was a short drive to Lac Du Bonnet ,If you wanted to check out Old Pinawa Dam it was only 10 mins away which is very interesting to see. If you like golf there are 3 courses very close. When we first arrived we were greeted by John and Shana ,who were very friendly and very informative about the cottage and the surrounding area . Looking forward to coming back next year or possibly sooner for more relaxation and seeing our new friends. Thanks again John and Shana for a great holiday !Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The pictures do not do this property justice. This is a little piece of paradise. We loved staying here!!! The cabin was so well-equipped, you should never have to (nor want to) leave. Every detail was taken care of, even some little surprises like a swing set for our daughter to play on. The high-level wrap-around deck is by far the best place. You can always find a piece of sun or shade, whatever you prefer, and sit back and enjoy the sounds of the birds around you. It even takes the mosquitos a little while longer to find you in the evening. Swimming off the dock is tonnes of fun and it is quite shallow off the side (albeit muddy) for the little ones. John and Shana are very personable, non-intrusive yet there to take care of any problem (which there was few) promptly. Each day is better than the last as we discovered more and more things to do in the area. Don't miss a visit to the Pinawa Dam and the Suspension Bridge. Both are very easy hikes, even for young kids. Lac du Bonnet is very close in the event you may need to stock up on supplies. There is no doubt in our mind that we will continue to come here year after year. Our only hope is that other guests appreciate the care and attention the owners have given to the cabin and that people continue to respect the space so that it can stay as pristine and beautiful as it was when we stayed there. Thanks for the lovely vacation and wonderful memories John & Shana!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: I officially retired at the end of December, 2011 and Shana (my wife) is semi-retired (4 months each winter). We have a home in Playa Del Carmen which is our winter place. We love the lake house, which we built in 2009, but need extra income to make our dream come true. Lakehouse in the Summer and Mexico in the Winter!
Why the Owner Chose Winnipeg:
Our vacation home is located 110 km (70 miles) NW of Winnipeg, just 10 km East of Lac Du Bonnet. You get just the right mix of people and quiet time...on the long weekends, it gets busy, then back to quiet during the week. Nearby, you'll find Pinawa Dam Provincial Park with hiking trails or check out the suspension bridge and hiking/biking trails near Pinawa. We have been coming here for 14 years, in a trailer/cabana for 11 years and now in a beautiful lake home. The water is beautiful for swimming, tubing, waterskiing, fishing or just floating in a lounger by the dock. Our neighbours are great and because we are in cottage country, everyone is friendly.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
There's something special about getting up early in the morning and walking down to the water when it is still and calm like a giant mirror. Even sitting at the table on the deck enjoying your morning coffee with the birds is an unbelievably relaxing way to start your day. There is a provincial park (a 5-minute drive or a 15 minute canoe paddle) which is an old dam with hiking trails throughout (well worth the trip). If you are feeling energetic, the Trans-Canada Trail starts at the dam and goes all the way to the town Pinawa as it follows the Channel (about 14 km). In Lac Du Bonnet, you can go for Chinese food at the Lakefront Hotel or if chicken or pizza is more your fancy, Chicken Chef is a great choice. There is also a Subway and restaurants for dining at 4 hotels in town. There are 3 Golf courses nearby, Pinawa Golf and Country Club, Granite Country Club (both 18-hole) and Black bear, a nice 9-hole course; all have a club-house and restaurant.
