Our contact with our Kyoto host Sayuri began months before arriving in Japan and she was a absolute pleasure to deal with, incredibly patient and polite with all our enquiries. the apartment itself is in a fantastic location, less than 10 min walk from the Shijo subway station and a 20min walk from Kyoto main station if you like walking and dont want to connect to the subway. the location is perfect because you are not forced into any transport option, walk, subway or hire a bike, its all verry easy. We arrived in Kyoto after climbing Mt Fuji on a hot day at the start of the Gion festival, and were greeted by Sayuri with cold bottles of water which were welcome on a hot Kyoto day. Her apartment is very clean and open with a combined open plan kitchen/dining area + lounge that connects to a japaense style room with bedding on the floor for 3 plus a more private bedroom for 2. We were a group of 4 adults and were very comfortable. There are guides throughout the house written in English to help you work all the appliances and facilities (the radio is the best thing EVER!) and Sayuri was always happy to help us and gave us great advice and things to do, see and eat, especially eat in Kyoto. Because its located in a residential complex I dont recommend this place for people wanting to get wild and party, it is very much a home away from home and besides there is so much to see and do in Kyoto its nice to come back and have a haven to relax in. Enjoy Kyoto!

The owner is very friendly, & she speaks good English. She was waiting for us at the apartment, & she explained thoroughly how to use many items, since everything was written in Japanese. She was always willing to help no matter how small our need was. The owner drove us to the station when we were leaving, & she told us that she was very exited to meet people from Saudi Arabia. We are very moderate people (I'm half American), we don't smoke or drink, but we get on very well with other traditions and religions. The apartment is cozy, & my family enjoyed it. All necessities in the kitchen & bedroom are provided. The apartment is clean & well aired, & it's a few minutes walk from the main streets. The owner gave us a map in English about the best sightseeing & entertainment areas, restaurants, stations... She even gave us a lift to the mall on a heavy rainy day. I definitely advise people to stay in that apartment whenever they visit Kyoto.

We were four adults stayed at this apartment in June. The apartment is perfect, very clean, comfortable, great location and the the owner is fantastic. We stayed for three days and enjoyed Kyoto. The location makes this place a good home base. Although this is close to the subway station we did not find it hard to walk to the JR station (Kyoto main) everyday. The bedrooms are good size and comfortable and the balcony is good size too. Highly recommend it - comfortable for four adults.

What a wonderful place!! Great location, incredibly helpful owner, great natural light, clean and spacious. Sayuri one of the nicest people we met in Japan. She met us at the train station and took our luggage to the apartment and put it into the front hall. We are a family of 5 traveling with 7 pieces of luggage. She was so kind to take care of the luggage while we started our tour of Kyoto. She also helped us to arrange a Japanese cultural experience which the kids loved. The shower room had a heater and fan so we were able to wash and dry our clothes quickly. It is about a 4 minute walk to shopping/food and about a 5 minute walk to the train. Sayuri left crackers, water and coffee for us as a welcome gift. Toys and videos left for the kids. So NICE!

We enjoyed five nights at Sayuri's apartment in Kyoto recently. Four of us (my husband and I, our daughter and my mother) made the apartment our base for seeing so many of Kyoto's wonderful sights. Being interested in textiles, we found an amazing wool shop across the road, and a textiles emporium three doors down! We were in heaven!! The apartment is walking distance from the ceramics district, the centre of Kyoto and the subway. The balcony overlooked a lovely temple... one of many in the area. And the tiny tempura restaurant nearby was just exquisite!! Sayuri was the perfect hostess - even picked us up and dropped us of at the bus stop! She was very helpful, and left lots of information to help us get around and become familiar with Kyoto. We couldn't recommend the apartment enough.

My husband, 8 year old son and I stayed at Sayuri's apartment for 5 nights. The apartment is in a perfect location. It's near the subways, and walking distance to markets and restaurants. The apartment building is very quiet and peaceful, and there is a great view of the mountains. Plus, the apartment is very clean and has great amenities, such as air conditioning, a washer, soaking tub, etc. Finally, the best thing about the apartment is Sayuri herself. She is very nice and helpful, and always in touch to make sure everything is ok. She was also very responsive during the process of booking the apartment. We greatly enjoyed our stay in Kyoto, and part of what made our stay so great was Sayuri's apartment. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone.

This apartment was wonderful. This was our first international trip with a baby, and we were nervous about finding everything we needed and having a safe and comfortable place to stay. Sayuri made everything really easy. She set up the tatami room for our daughter and went out of her way to answer all our questions. The location couldn't have been better. Everything we needed (food, diapers, etc.) was available in the shops on Shijo, so we only had to go adventuring when we felt up to it. When we did, the nearby subway stations made transportation simple. I would definitely stay here again if we returned to Kyoto.

My husband, 4 year old, and I stayed in this apartment for 4 nights, but we wish it was longer. Right from booking the apartment to the end of our stay, Sayuri is helpful and kind from staying in touch over email before we arrived, from offering to pick us up at the train station. The apartment is meticulously clean and spacious and a good choice for my young family who need more space than what is available in a typical japanese hotel room. My daughter loved sleeping on a futon in the tatami room, while my husband and I were happy with the double bed in the back bedroom. We really appreciated the location being near the subway, restaurants and grocery stores. There is even a lovely kimono store just a few blocks down the street. This is a very nice apartment with all the modern amenities and a comfortable place to put your feet up after a long day of sightseeing. Thank you Sayuri!

We stayed in this apartment for one week in March 2012 and we really enjoyed our stay: the apartment was very clean and the owner had given us delicious welcome cakes and cookies upon our arrival: she is obviously very dedicated to her guests comfort. Besides the cleanliness and nice gestures from Sayuri we also enjoyed a lot the convenient location of the apartment: a short bicycle ride away from Kyoto's most interesting neighborhoods but also very quiet so that we could rest and relax after long hours visiting the city.

You can really feel Kyoto's spirit in this market. You see and buy many local delicious products. Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1995

About the owner: Hello, I am Sayuri. I split my time being a bookkeeper and homemaker. I love to travel and meet new people. I was born and raised in Kyoto, and love the city. I love to find and try new restaurants and cafes in and around central Kyoto. So if you need any advice I can help you.

                  Why the Owner Chose Kyoto:
I bought this apartment because of its location. It is in the heart of Kyoto, so could not be more convenient. But because it is close to two temples, it is amazingly quiet and tranquil. Being on the eighth floor the views are wonderful. Also the mixture of both Western and Japanese styles makes it a comfortable place to live. The security system is easy to use and modern, so it is very safe. It is very close to the station, so I can get anywhere in Kyoto in minutes and travel to Osaka or Lake Biwa in less than an hour.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
One of the great benefits of this apartment is the spectacular southern view. It can be viewed from on the wide comfortable balcony or through the large patio windows. So no matter what the weather is you can enjoy the view. Eating in the dining room is also a pleasure, because it is sunny and airy. The night view is also wonderful to see.
