Welcome to our Home. We love it and would like to share it with you.
Built in 1940, The Don Wilson Cottage is a cozy 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, waterfront retreat located at the end of Oxford Town Creek on First Street in Oxford, MD.
There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom with a queen size bed has a connecting bath with a stall shower. The 'Sailors Bedroom' has a double bed with the bathroom around the corner. An extra futon couch on the enclosed front porch is a great spot for an extra adult or child. It has access to the Master Bath.
Walk or bike to the town's popular restaurants, bars, & historic sights. Steps to Oxford's Causeway Park with Tennis and Basketball Courts. With a fabulous large waterfront fenced-in lawn, it's a great place to play or throw the ball for your dog. You can also launch the kayaks from our new dock. Two tree swings are fun for the adults too. Relax under the large old, backyard trees by the water- a great place to have an outdoor meal as well.
Facing the Town Creek, our new screen-in porch is great spot for breakfast or an evening drink. The knotty pine paneled Den is a cozy place to have an early morning breakfast for those chilly mornings and watch the crabbers head out for the day.
We also have a slip available at our new dock for rent. Bring your boat and keep it in the water while staying at the house.

We celebrated our 10 anniversary and could not have picked a better house. The house was very clean, charming and cozy. The location was picture perfect. You are in walking distance to the town and many of the events. We attended the Christmas bazaar and the lighting of the Christmas tree in town. What a great place and would strongly recommend this rental to others. Ken and ChristineRecommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Ken and Christine, It was great meeting you too, and thanks for the great review. It's always great to see someone enjoy Oxford as well as The Don Wilson Cottage the way we do. Looking forward to seeing you again. Sincerely, Ron Walker

We lived in Delaware years ago and kept our sailboat near Chestertown. We love the Chesapeake area but had never spent time in Oxford. We've used VRBO for other vacations and were happy with the properties but finding Ron and the Don Wilson Cottage was a perfect fit. The photos do not begin to describe the charm and warmth of the cottage. The fenced yard was a bonus since our dog was with us and he probably enjoyed the dock and yard as much as we did. He even made new friends with the next door neighbors' dogs. The town is delightful and everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Everything is within easy walking distance. There are five restaurants so there is something to please everyone - the Masthead managed to combine two of my favorite foods into a Lobster and Grilled Cheese panini and Schooner's had bison burgers! The Robert Morris Inn is great for a breakfast on the waterfront or dinner in a cozy, historic tavern-style room. The Oxford Market and Deli has great sandwiches and you can pick up basic provisions, but major grocery chains are only a short drive away in Easton. Biking trails are plentiful whether you are a hard-core biker or a more laid-back rider. And the opportunities for kayaking, sailing or power boating are right at the end of the dock at the cottage. There are numerous nearby towns to visit, each with their own distinctive personality and history. Art galleries such as Danny Doughty's in Cambridge or the Pam Foss Gallery in St. Michael's offer a relaxing change of pace - the artists are a joy to meet and they welcome the opportunity to discuss their work or just chat a while. The Chespeaker Bay Maritime Museum is also a must-see. Ron was most accommodating in changing our arrival date so we could come in one day early. He even drove down personally to replace a light bulb in the bathroom when we inquired about the location of a replacement! We have already recommended this property to several friends who are into biking and kayaking. The Don Wilson Cottage is a delightful spot for anyone seeking a "something for everyone" vacation - especially families with children and/or a dog. You can even come by boat and tie up at the dock. Ron is the perfect host and he goes all out to make your visit memorable. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer but we're already planning to come back in the Spring.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Wow! Thanks so much for your wonderful review and compliments. You guys were great too. Have a great winter. Ron

Our family enjoyed this wonderful cottage this past weekend. Owner was on site to greet us and was so helpful. The view and backyard space were surprising for such a small home (two bedroom plus sleeping porch) The layout was terrific and gave us plenty of common space to entertain our guests during the day. The entire house was immaculate. Plenty of Brand new high quality linens provided. Beds were all ver comfortable. I highly recommend this cottage -it/served our needs perfectly. We all fell in love with the quaint charm of Oxford.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: John and Joanne, Thanks so much for coming, and please please come again. And thanks so much for leaving our house in such good shape. Glad the wedding went well. Best regards and fair winds, Ron

This was my second time at The Don Wilson Cottage. I spent 1 night there in November & loved it. I just spent 3 nights there & loved it even more! I had such a wonderful time & came home so relaxed- I can't wait to go back! I rode my bike every where- to the ice cream shop, out to dinner, to the annual art show, all around town! I ate my breakfast on the new dock every morning & swung on the huge backyard swing every night. Watching & photographing the sunsets each night was such a treat! The house was clean & so cozy...and, for a small house, it sure is big! It is a beautiful vacation spot & I highly recommend it to everyone!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Pam! We will have you back anytime. Thanks for telling our future guests all about your great time. Ron

The Don Wilson Cottage is cozy, clean, newly restored and comfortable and located right on the water of Town Creek in Oxford. It is within easy walking distance of restaurants, the general store, a great ice cream shop, and a wonderful mystery themed book store. It is also near to St Michael's and Easton for more great food and shopping. The photos don't do the cottage justice. My husband and I love Oxford and had always stayed at the inn or a B&B but loved having our own kitchen and huge backyard. The owner was kind and attentive to my correspondence. We joked about becoming squatters. Thanks so much! We will be back and hope to do some kayaking and biking next time.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children.
Owner response: Dear Laura, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are so pleased that you found the house as pleasant and comfortable as we do. We love Oxford and we did become "squatters". Our son loves oxford too. You are more than welcome back anytime. Happy Anniversary again!! Sincerely, Ron Walker

About the owner: We purchased the house in 2011 after falling in love with Oxford. We then fell in love with this quaint little cottage owned for most of its life by Don Wilson. Don was a boat builder that worked at Cutts and Case up until his death in 2006. He was well known in the community.
Why the Owner Chose Oxford:
We bought the house so our family can enjoy Oxford.
