This was an interesting place to stay. Nehalem is a quiet little town. The house is on a block with a few buildings and a couple houses. It is only a couple miles from the beach. We paid about half of what we would have paid elsewhere. The cottage was very spacious and clean. There are a total of five beds, so it would be good for large groups. We weren't there very much because we were out and about enjoying the beautiful weather, but we liked it and would stay there again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Me and my two women friends had a wonderful time staying for a weekend in this very sweet cottage. We found a newly and very nicely renovated little house that was very spacious, very clean and comfortable. We loved the personal touch of the fresh flowers, the very!!! good freshly ground coffee with half & half in the refrigerator and the wine, which we never even had enough time to drink. The cottage is located in the center of the sweet little town of Nehalem with lots of interesting stores and just a block away from the river, where we took a little kayaking trip. Manzanita is just a 5 minute drive away with a beautiful beach and lots of restaurants. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

The price was right on this vacation rental. I didn't have extremely high expectations, but was somehow still a little disappointed. I wasn't sent any pertinent information on the rental after booking and prior to the trip, such as where the home was located, how to get in, etc. I had to contact the owner several times before she finally gave us this information, after we had already started our trip, and just a few days before the date of our stay. That was a bit stressful. The home was welcoming enough- the fresh flowers and candy bars were a nice touch. I had read in the reviews that the rental was converted from being a garden retail store. I don't think this conversion was complete or successful. My husband and I just couldn't get comfortable in the home, with oddities around every corner. There's a locked, industrial sized walk-in fridge/freezer in the kitchen. There's a locked office with indoor windows and blinds in the "bedroom"- which is just a large cement-floored room with lots of beds in it. The outdoor greenhouse space was warm and pleasantly private, but it was still lined with plastic shelving. I was disappointed to find that while the rental has a tv, there is nothing hooked up to it! I don't have a tv in my own home, but we really excited to watch the Olympics that were going on at the end of our days out. I think it should be pointed out that there are no channels to be watched on the television provided. The first night there, an outlet shorted without being touched, leaving us without power in the bathroom and other "bedroom", until my husband was able to reset the GFCI breaker. The kitchen wasn't equipped with enough appliances that I wanted to bother cooking any meals. It sounds like this space was great for some other reviewers, and I am very glad to hear that. I'm sure it will be great for future renters as well. For me, it just didn't have any comforts of home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a wonderful find, this Taylor Cottage. We love the coast so much and have stayed at many different places. This one is a winner. Right in the City so around the block is everything you need. The river is a short block away and the boat launch is less than a mile away. The cottage was super - very clean, comfortable and felt right at home. Some personal touches by the owner made the place feel very special and welcoming. It is in a great location for exploring our incredible coast. It's an excellent value and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Loved this cottage! There were fresh flowers and freshly ground coffee beans awainting our arrival and we found the place well maintained and very clean. The linen was new and the cottage cozy. During our stay we got to visit the potter next door and found everyone to be very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this rental to anyone wishing to visit the area. Close to town and walking distance to river and the shops, restaurants etc. The owner was easy to work with and obviously cares for her guests. We will be back as often as we can this summer.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We were very excited about visiting the Oregon Coast for the first time. The owner's friendliness via email in making arrangements was excellent. However, that's where our delight ended. Upon arrival, we noted that the beautiful hardwood floors had not been swept (let alone mopped), so I had to vacuum. The bathroom was a disaster, with hairs in the shower (no tub) and the sink, and dried urine on and under the toilet seat, and a dirty floor. Additionally, the linens had been purchased at the local thrift shop and were very old, as the stitching on many of the towels was coming unraveled and they still had tags on them indicating that nothing had been washed. Finally, when I tried to hang up the bath mat to wash the floor (before we had used the bathroom) chunks of mud fell out of it. Needless to say, I had to wash the entire bathroom before we used it. And then there is the matter of the ants all over the kitchen and bathroom. The owner did leave some food in the kitchen for the convenience of the renter - unfortunately, most of it was past the expiration date (meaning she probably cleaned out her own personal pantry to stock the rental). The "cottage" is in the midst of several industrial buildings (so you can't leave the curtains open unless you want to feel like a fish in a tank) that start work pretty early (so no sleeping in), and what should be some green space is a fully enclosed green house (because the "cottage" IS a renovated industrial building that the owner had previously used as a garden center), so there is no natural light from the back - only lots of cement and a dirty (uncleaned) plastic enclosure. This may be a place to stay if all you want is a place to sleep after a hard day fishing, but it is definitely not a vacation haven. I will NOT be recommending this rental to anyone.Owner response: A direct quote e-mailed to me by this guest upon arrival to the cottage,” This is a beautiful cottage and such a quaint little river town". I supply my cottage with fresh flowers, fresh ground coffee, 2 complimentary bottles of wine, various food snacks, kitchen condiments, and games and toys for children. Why would I as the owner provide all these charming extras and leave the cottage in the above stated condition??????? The population of Nehalem is 240. A town this size does not have a heavy industrial area. The cottage is a charming little house built in the early 40's. Upon purchasing, I had extensive renovation done, including refinishing the original fir floors. I turned it into a small, specialty, garden retail shop. Health issues forced me to close. The outside back are which is quite large is an enclosed, ventilated, greenhouse space, totally protected from the weather. There is no cement. I have no apologies to make. I am confident that what I am offering is as described; affordable, and charming. Off the beaten path and minutes away from exclusive coastal area. If someone needs more information on this rental, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, The Owner

It was awesome. The pictures didn't do it justice. It was really tidy and clean, the owner was very helpful and communicated through email encouraging me to phone with any questions or problems. I would recommend it to a friend and I will use this property again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
