The Vagabond is located in the private residential neighborhood of Long Bay Estates which has no public access to its beach front and no through traffic. The house has spacious living areas for combined family vacationers. Hardwood floors throughout the house help those with allergies. A well equipped kitchen and herb garden is popular with the cooks. From the breakfast room and back porch watch eagles catch fish and swans swimming on the lake.
Enjoy the ocean view from front porch rockers and swing with kiddie gates on the 60' front porch. When kids tire of playground under the house they have only a 200 yd hop and skip to the beach. From there a ten minute walk lands you at the Myrtle Beach State Park with playgrounds, a nature center, trails, fishing, and coffee and ice-cream at the pier gift shop!
Master Suite - King bed with reading lamps, TV, futon, two closets, private bath with jacuzzi tub, double sink vanity, shower stall, toilet. Outside door to private sunning deck. Sleeps up to 4.
Curtained french doors from Master suite open to library with sofa bed. Sleeps 2.

Large living room with TV/DVD/CABLE with DVR. Relax and read from the large library of books in the house or choose from many board games to play. WIFI Internet and Unlimited Long Distance.
Under the house you'll find kiddie swings, slide, two Cozy Coupes, and toys. Screened room with hammocks receives a breeze and is a nice place to nap. In the garage is another fridge for your beach drinks and a charcoal grill. You can lock up your car, bikes, beach toys and more in the garage. After the beach, rinse off the sand in one of 2 Hot and Cold enclosed outside showers.
All linens are provided and your beds will be professionally made. (Sheets and bed linens, 1 bath towel and 1 beach towel per guest and 1 kitchen set)

We had a glorious week with our adult kids and 6 of our grandchildren (oldest is 6, youngest is 6 wks) at The Vagabond. The space was perfect for each family. I especially enjoyed sharing the figs the whole time we were there with the birds and the squirrels, such a bonus! They are very good and I didn't want to waste them. The place is great. A wonderful location, unbelievably tucked into Myrtle Beach! I haven't been to MB since late 60's. My family have traditionally gone to Edisto, Litchfield, and Hilton Head. The Vagabond was such a welcome surprise, I had no idea that there was this sort of neighborhood in such close proximity to MB. The hardwood floors are gorgeous! We could tell there have been lots of refreshing to bathrooms, walls, window treatments, etc., nicely done. This is lengthy but worth the read! We have stayed in this property for 4 years and are looking forward to our vacation there again this year. We range in age from one year to 82 years. My 82 year old father does not enjoy going to the beach, so he begins his day sitting on the back porch watching the lake. He spends his mornings fixing pancakes for the great grandchildren or beginning to prepare something that might be needed for dinner that night. Later he goes shopping with my Mom, takes a nap, or puts together a jigsaw puzzle. We keep one going on the dining room table from the time we arrive until just before we leave. He finishes his day with either porch sitting, watching his favorite shows on his own tv in his room, or catching up on his daily emails. My Mom joins him during some of his time, but she does go to the beach with us on occasion and loves spending time with the family. She loves porch sitting with her cell phone and catching up with other family members and friends while she is away. The rest of us...well, we love everything about this property. We use all the porches, all the beds, all the toys, lots of books, jigsaw puzzles, play equipment, both sinks, both ovens and both stovetops! We fish...although we have never cautght anything. We feed ducks, turtles and fish at the pond. We take long walks around the quiet neighborhood or on the beach to go to the pier and watch the fishermen. Last year we put the granchildren's bikes on top of the car and they rode them all around the neighborhood. We play soccer or kickball in the front yard. And we spend every moment possible at the beach during awake time for the little ones. We love the outside showers which make it great to get them ready to go in and eat or sleep depending on the day. And we play lots and lots of games in the evenings. If the young adults want to go out for some night life, we are close enough to everything for Grammy & Grumpy to watch the little ones and still be the designated driver at all hours of the night! I just can't say enough about how much we love this property, the area where it is located and Myrtle Beach. Everything the ad says about this property is accurate! You can't beat it. We have stayed in other properties in the same neighborhood, but this one far exceeds the accommodations of those!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

We had recently lost our mother and were having a tough time coping. It was decided to go away as a family to heal. This house was perfect. The little playground for the toddlers and the easy beach access made our stay even better. The kitchen was fabulous and made it easy to cook for 14 people. I know out of all the amenities we use the porch the most. WE laughed and cried and became much closer. It was a great week for everyone. We will definately look up the Vagabond for our future family beach stays. Written March 2009Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Year Purchased: 1969
About the owner: I'm one of nine children and my earliest memory of staying here is when my grandmother rented this house out to military personnel, but kept the master suite for herself as a get away. We came to visit and had to sleep in a tent in the back yard.
Why the Owner Chose Long Bay Estates:
My grandmother bought this house in her retirement as a pre-fab in 1969. The photo above is from the day it was placed on it's foundation in 1969. My grandmother made the newspaper for being the first house brought to the area on a tractor trailer. She chose Long Bay for it's quiet residential neighborhood and proximity to art workshops at Spring Maid Beach. She called it 'The Counting House.' In 1989 Hurricane Hugo hit and the Vagabond was added on to and updated. The federal loan required it to be raised up on stilts and she renamed the house 'The Vagabond.' Momma Bette passed away in 2003 at 102 years old. The house is now owned by her daughter and grandchildren and her great grand children are enjoying it too.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love the quiet atmosphere in our neighborhood away from the crowds. But, if we want entertainment it's all minutes from our house. Murrell's Inlet is one of our favorite places to find local seafood. It's a lovely place to get away from it all!
