The best feature of this place is its yard. The photos do not do it justice. The lawn wraps around the house and is divided with a wonderful large deck. Sitting out there in the evening watching the kids play while the stars come into view is pretty special. Bring some mosquito spray, then just sit back and enjoy. The house is still a work in progress but the work is obviously a labour of love. Kitchen and dining room are well done and a pleasure to be in. The living room is a bit small ( as was the style when it was built) but comfortable. Upstairs there is still some work being done, but the bedrooms are fine and the beds very comfortable. The overall feel is very much 'cottage in the country' and with the great summer weather and greenery all around my Italian wife thought the house and the Chester area was exactly what Canada should look like. We stayed with our two young kids and took full advantage of the yard and the nearby playground and pool. It is a short (but hilly) walk to the waterfront or the main street (great coffee and breakfast at the Kiwi Cafe!) and a very very short drive to the local grocery store. The neighbors are friendly, the town is beautiful and the region is wonderful. The owners are great and kept in contact with us throught our stay to answer and questions we had. The upstairs bathroom needs to be finished and the steps to the back door and deck should be expanded a bit, but overall we would highly reccomend the place and would happily stay again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: Bob and I love old charming homes and the lure of the beautiful village of Chester made it love at first sight. We love to get up in the morning, listen to the birds and stroll through town. Breakfast at the Kiwi is a special treat and we enjoy eating at ALL of the restaurants, playing golf and taking in the local Chester Theater which is top notch!
Why the Owner Chose Chester:
We love the South Shore! Chester, Lunenburg and Mahone Bay are our favorite haunts for exploring, antiquing, shopping, etc. but we chose Chester because of its quaintness, elegance, beauty, limited crowds and tourists and last but not least fine dining!. It is a great place to retire which is our goal! It doesn't hurt that it is near Halifax where we grew up!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Quiet, space, beauty, wonderful walks and close promixity to everything town has to offer.
