Enjoy Luxurious Accommodations... Seaside Beauty... Down East History at the Sou' Wester. This 100 year old dance hall has been converted into two spacious residences both with charming and picturesque views of The West Point Harbor, ocean, islands, and the historical fishing village of West Point.

You may rent the three bedroom Sou' Wester South or four bedroom Sou' Wester North. If you want to rent the whole 9,600 square foot property, including decks, for a reunion of family and friends, we will open the adjoining doors for you, so everyone will have access to both sides.

It is a great location with amazing views... The beautiful swimming beach at Cat Cove is available just a short walk away, and the charming West Point General Store and lobster wharf are across the road. As you approach this newly renovated historic site, a wrap-around deck invites you to linger and enjoy fabulous harbor and island views. There are comfortable Adirondack chairs in which you can relax and catch the sunset.

You can see the ocean, islands, and West Point's charming harbor and general store from every room. The large, open living area has walls of glass and a comfortable seating area with an eight foot brick fireplace and dining table that seats 12. The first floor also includes a full bath with doublewide shower and a washer and dryer.

This is a great house for entertaining. The kitchen is separated from the dining area by a spiral staircase, and the open floor plan lets you look into the living area to visit with guests and enjoy ocean views while you cook. You'll watch the fisherman dock at the wharf and know when it's time to run across the lane to buy lobster right off the boat. The kitchen cabinets hold everything you need to prepare a seaside feast. There is a large selection of dishes, glassware, flatware, and pots and pans. The large commercial sink has a high-power spray hose for easy clean up, and large sideboards provide plenty of room for meal and party preparations. Sou' Wester is complete with a gas stove, microwave oven, large refrigerator, garbage compactor, and five-gallon spring-water dispenser.

The central wrought-iron spiral staircase leads up to a spacious ocean side bedroom floor that sleeps six. The master bedroom includes a king-size bed and large bath tub. The master bath can be private or shared. There is a connecting bathroom door that can be unlocked to lead to a large adjoining bedroom with a queen-size bed and wood burning Vermont casting stove. The master bedroom and woodstove bedroom also share an oceanfront balcony. There is also a third comfortable bedroom with a queen-sized bed.

The spiral staircase in the Sou' Wester South leads up from the bedroom level to an enclosed room with lots of glass windows which was originally an old fashioned "Widow's Walk," where village wives would look across distant waves for a glimpse of their husband's boat returning in a storm. Now, this private room commands sensational views from the highest point in the village. You want to linger, so there is a small bar area where you can treat your guests to drinks with the sun setting over the surrounding sea, set up an easel or tripod and capture the amazing view, or just relax with a book and the view.

The entrance to Sou' Wester North is across its own broad deck with comfortable Adironadack chairs, gas grill, and outdoor tables. There is a lovely view of the ocean, nearby islands, and the historic general store. Inside, a large open floor plan includes a comfortable living area and dining area with water views and a table that seats 12. There is a large, open custom-designed kitchen with all the appliances and accessories described above in the Sou' Wester South kitchen. You will have everything you need for entertaining in style, and ready access to lobster fresh from the sea that can be purchased at the wharf across the lane.

There are four bedrooms and two baths in Sou' Wester North, which sleeps eight. The master suite includes a king-size bed, sliding glass doors to a private balcony overlooking the harbor, and a large private bath tub and separate shower. Three other lovely bedrooms were designed to accommodate the needs of families, including one with a queen-size bed, one with a double bed, and one with bunk beds. These three bedrooms share a full-size bath. This house also includes two cable TVs, lots of room for family gatherings, and places for quiet retreats with an ocean view where you can take a cup of coffee and a good book.
