  Loved the location of this property, however the property itself was quite worn. We had many electrical problems while staying here including damage done to our personal equipment and were relocated to a nearby hotel on our first night after checking in. We were refunded for this hotel night but the problems continued throughout the week but we were not compensated for them. The property is a perfect size for 2 couples but do not expect luxury. For the price, we expected more.

  Owner response: Hi Catherine, I just realized that the response that I originally posted to this review did not appear! I hope you'll get this one. First, thanks for your visit and for your comments. As you know this was a one-of-a-kind event - where our local power company - Palmetto Electiric - experienced major equipment failure in the area that resulted in damage to some of the small appliances, TV's, etc. in our villa! We were thankful that it occurred just as you were arriving and that we were able to pay for the two rooms in the nearby oceanfront hotel for your first night. We also we very happy to be able to offer you superior accommodations - also oceanfront - just 2 doors away at no extra cost to you. Of course, it was your choice. And we understood that since you had already seen our place - On-the-Beach - that you really wanted to stay there. Apparently then, later in the week, the electric company had to cut the power to the villa for a few hours while they finished solving the problem. I am so sorry for that inconvenience. We are close to a settlement with the electric company - they have admitted that they are the responsible party and that no one could have prevented this electrical issue. I'm happy to say that you will be compensated for your plug in cooler that was ruined and that from all accounts it is once every several lifetimes for something like this to ever occur!   My family and I had a wonderful week in this amazing beach villa. The location could not have been more perfect....walk directly out onto the best beach on the island. The villa is well-designed with bedrooms on each side and a comfortable family area between. I spent hours on the upper deck which gives you a great view of the beach.....perfect for morning coffee and evening cocktails! To make the experience even more enjoyable, the owner was tremendously responsive and helpful....both before and after I booked our trip. Whenever I sent an e-mail, she was always responsive and thorough; she even called us the day after we arrived to make sure that everything was okay. We will be back and I will also look for other listings with this owner!

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

  Had a wonderful time on HHI as always. This villa definitely enhanced our stay more than ever before. I would suggest this location to anyone but especially anyone with children. It was so easy to walk back to the room for freeze pops, drinks and snacks. Also, when they nap you can sit on the great 2nd level balcony and read and nap with the ocean in front of you! The other families around us were close by but you couldn't even tell. Just like being in your own private home!!!!!!! Chairs were provided and in great shape. You can also look right out and rent sailboats, beach bikes, or water trikes if you choose. Look forward to staying here again!

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

  We (my wife, son and his best buddy) spent the first week of April 2012 in this lovely beach front condo and it was a marvelous week, the location is perfect. We all had a great time. The pictures and narrative about the unit are accurate, it was clean, well appointed and comfortable. We were so favorably impressed that I have already emailed the owners about future visits. I would higly recommend this property.

  Pictures of condo are accurate. Upper deck is not as good as pics, somewhat tired and weathered, which is to be expected from beachfront location .Outdoor furniture, very nice! Furnishings are good, comfy and clean. Kitchen and appliances are tired, although adequate. No updating in kitchen or bathrooms. Sliding glass doors ALL need to be replaced. A beachfront unit, with saltwater and sand would be very hard to maintain, but this one is good, in need of some updating, but overall very pleasant. Space is very nice, beds are fine, but standard issue "cleaning service" linens. We've stayed in much less expensive units, with plush bedding and towels! At this price for March ,these would be easy upgrades! This unit will not disappoint. Ocean views and wave sounds will delight!! Location is hard to beat....literally On- The-Beach!!

  We just fell in love with "on the Beach"! The Condo decor was awesome and just steps from the beach where we had our coffee watching the sunrise every morning!! It had two masters with full bathrooms separated by the open living/dining/kitchen area, each with a balcony/deck to view the beach, which gave each couple privacy! Dogs can run freely at this beach which we didn't mind but it brothered my sister who is afraid of them!----so she lost a lot of weight running from them! HA! This is really a wonderful place for a relaxing vacation! We loved it!!! Thanks Dale!

  Owner response: Hi Mary, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! I love the sunrise on the beach too! Please tell your sister that Hilton Head has laws regulating pets on the beach in season whcih begins about mid April. Then dog owners are not allowed to bring their pets on the beach during the day and must have them on a lease after hours. The beach is always great for runnung, walking, biking riding, etc. though - so she could always exercise for weight loss :) Hope you'll come back and visit us! Thanks Dale

  We spend one week in March with our 4 children (ages 3 - 11) and all had an excellent stay. The owners are very helpful and responsive. The unit was very clean and well laid out with two wings for the bedrooms and the kitchen/dining/living room in the middle. Three bathrooms and three TVs are nice as well. Although the description is for 2 bedrooms, the loft is almost a third bedroom - the unit will sleep 8 people no problem. Being right on the beach is fantastic as well as having the Dunes House Grill 2 minutes away for drinks/dinner/lunch. Highly recommended!
