Florissant house description
Enjoy the true feel of staying in the Colorado mountains. Relax in a private hot tub or sit outside on the covered wrap-around deck. While indoors enjoy the basement level den with bar area, flat screen TV and soft-tip dart board game.
With 3 separate stories everyone can have their own sense of privacy. Or get together on one floor to watch TV, cook a meal or hide out in the den. The top story consists of two bedrooms, one bedroom having a small TV/DVD player. The larger bedroom has a full size bed, while the smaller has two twin-size storage beds. There is a community closet to store one's belongings.
The main floor consists of the kitchen/living/dining room( 'great area'), master bedroom and bathroom. The living room area has a flat screen TV with satellite TV and DVD player. A huge remote controlled gas fireplace is a highlight to enjoy as you watch TV. There is a small breakfast bar and small dining table to enjoy your meals. Off the main floor, next to the kitchen is the entrance to the wrap around deck with a convenient gas grill and small bistro to sit at while cooking outside.
The master bedroom is very comfortable with plenty of storage and space. The master bedroom has a flat screen TV with satellite TV and is located right next to the bathroom for convenience. The bathroom is small but is newly remodeled with a tiled in shower.
The basement level consists of a den with a flat screen TV, bar area and dart board. It's a small but very enjoyable area to have a fun family evening. There is a gas stove on a programmable thermostat to keep the temperatures comfortable. A second bathroom is located next to the den for convenience. This bathroom has a tub/shower combination and a stacked full-size washer and dryer combination.
Walk out the garage door and hop into the small but inviting hot tub. The tub is designed to hold 3-4 people but much more comfortable for a couple. Sitting in the hot tub you can look toward the east and see for miles into the distance. Some of the best sunsets and sunrises can be viewed from this vantage point. With the covered deck right above, the hot tub can be enjoyed even in inclement weather.
There is an asphalt covered driveway that has two entrances and wraps around the house in a semi-circle. There are several different parking spaces, depending on specific needs.
Location! Location! Location! is so important and the 'Hummingbird' has it all.
The 'Hummingbird' is located just 30 miles west of Colorado Springs. Some of the main attractions in Colorado Springs are:
Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Pikes Peak Cog Railway, and the Air Force Academy.
It is only 25 minutes to the small historic town of Cripple Creek, which now has casinos, hotels, nice restaurants, and the Butte Opera House.
Ten minutes from the 'Hummingbird' is the Fossil Beds National Monument and the historic Hornbek Homestead. The Fossil Beds has several hiking trails and a picnic area.
Barely one half of a mile east is the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Refugee, which is almost within walking distance. Tours and programs are available upon reservation.
The 'Hummingbird' shares its property line with a 480 acre private fishing resort called 'Trout Haven', which truly gives it privacy. Breckenridge is an hour and a half drive for skiing in the winter and shopping in the summer, not to mention the beautiful drive there.

A Family Gathering
A Family Gathering
Our family had a great time! The house was exactly what we expected from the posting and pics on VRBO. Warm and cozy, loved the hop tub, WI-FI worked well and slept like a log. Our family is going back to spend Thanksgiving together- looking so forward to it!! And we loved all the wildlife- was greeted by the friendliest red fox I've ever seen, and a mule deer within minutes of driving up!!

August in The Rockies
The Hummingbird House is truly a nice set up and beautiful. Being pet friendly was one of our priorities, however, it is not fenced and neighbors do have dogs that are also not fenced so you need to be aware. The location is great and the property is beautiful. We had a wonderful stay, visiting the wolf refuge and the fossil park and enjoying the georgeous Colorado area which was the reason for our visit - to show off this state to relatives from Michigan. We will definitely go there again and hopefully enjoy a winter stay the next time. Thanks so much for a wonderful few days at the Hummingbird House.

Really impressed our friends from out of town!
Really impressed our friends from out of town!
My boyfriend and I just recently moved to Colorado at the beginning of the year and were missing our friends dearly. We put together a week at the Hummingbird to spend some time with them and it was perfect. The kitchen is so well stocked; we wanted for nothing! The deck and fire pit area was an awesome area for sitting around and catching up. We had deer visiting us every morning and one even let me pet it. There are many great hiking areas close by with some of the most beautiful views I have seen since moving out here. We all agreed that we'd be back. Thank you from all of us for such an awesome week!

I am thrilled that the hummingbird turned out to fit your needs so well and that you could impress your friends by choosing the hummingbird. It's wonderful to know that you all had a terrific time renewing your friendships. Yes, the deer can be pretty friendly up in that neck of the woods. I hope you all can plan another reunion in the future.
Property was exactly as described. Location was good and owner was very helpful in answering questions and addressing our needs. Home is comfortable and well appointed.

Lovely Quiet Getaway
The home was furnished with everything I could possibly want... and things I wouldn't have thought of, too. It was extremely clean and very comfortable. The owner has provided a detailed "guide" to using everything in the home, and that was great! I happily recommend this home to anyone looking for a great place to relax and enjoy your time.

The Hummingbird Home was absolutey beautiful. We had a fantastic trip! The house was exactly as expected, great mountain location with all the comforts of home. We used the grill, the hot tub, and spent most of our time listening to the birds out on the deck. Short drive to the Crag Park where we did a beautiful hike, and also visited the Florissant Fossil Beds just up the road. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Chistine for sharing your wonderful home!!

About the owner: I have lived in the Colorado mountains for 17 years. I have resided in the same home because of how comfortable my home is. Located right next to a private fishing resort, it has a lot of privacy for it's small acreage. I now have the privilege of working at the Resort since my early retirement from the Postal Service in 2009. I am now into semi-retirement hoping someday in the near future to be fully retired.
