Every vacation home is unique, but few stand out from the pack as clearly as the newly constructed Treetop Villa. In terms of location, design, quality of finishes and on-site service the Treetop Villa is unmatched on the peninsula.
Physical Quality
In addition to being solidly constructed the Treetop Villa sports some of the most luxurious finishes available in Belize. Cut limestone tiles cover the floors of the living room and guest bedroom, while the master bedroom is adorned with a floor made of exquisite black poisonwood, one of many local hardwoods utilized throughout the home. Mahogany, with its golden brown hue is the wood of choice for all mouldings, doors, closets, and beds. Santa Maria trusses support the roof, and Cabbage Bark, with its ornate undulating grain, is used on the exterior staircase and for the beams that support the floor of the master bedroom. The kitchen and adjacent bar feature granite counter tops with a ceiling uniquely covered with wild cane. Mexican bowl sinks, tile and one-of-a-kind artisanal light fixtures give personality and flair to the bathrooms. The second floor veranda catches plenty of cool Caribbean breeze, while the veranda on the third offers a stunning view of the sea and nearby cayes.
Amenities
Everything you need for a carefree holiday is at the ready at the Treetop Villa. Standard cooking utensils and flatware cater to six dinner guests. Appliances include a dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer with icemaker, convection oven/microwave, butane cooktop, and a stacked washer and dryer. 3 split unit air conditioners keep the house cool when the heat is on. A 32” flatscreen TV with 100+ channel cable is mounted on the wall of the living room, along with a DVD player. For those who must remain connected to the web, a wireless internet connection is included. For getting around we provide bicycles and kayaks upon request.
Service
At Cocoplum Vacation Rentals we know that when it comes to rental homes there is a wide selection. What makes our homes special is that the level of personalized service matches the physical quality of the homes. Your host is not a hired caretaker; he is a resident and principal of the development where the home is located. Think of him as concierge and good neighbor rolled into one.
Location
The Placencia Peninsula is quickly becoming the new 'it' destination for people who enjoy the world class attractions of Belize's coast, cayes and interior. Cocoplum has become the premier private residential neighborhood on the peninsula. When you rent here, you not only enjoy a fine home, you also get quality of life. Traffic is minimal in the area, the landscaping is beautiful, and you have access to over a mile of secluded Caribbean beach, in addition to several beautiful park areas within the development. Cocoplum is situated between the finest culinary offerings on the peninsula: a 5 minute drive north leads to the award winning Maya Bistro, while going 15 minutes south into the heart of Placencia Village yields a surprising variety of fine dining and nightlife.

I want to go back! My husband and I were looking for a rustic vacation (as opposed to chain restaurants and skyscraper hotels) without forgoing the modern amenities – and we got just that! The Treetop Villa was really unlike the other accommodations in Placencia (large homes or bungalow style hotel rooms and pay hotel fees). The 3 ½ hour drive from the Belize City airport (you can fly into Placencia which is more convenient) was one of my favorite parts of the trip – rainforest, orange trees for hours, banana plantation and small rural towns. Once you get to Coco Plum on the you are welcomed by the friendly security guards who quickly become your source for local information! You need a car to get around. Favorite restaurants: Maya Bistro and Robert’s Grove hotel. The locals are simple people and very friendly. It was refreshing to go on a vacation where the town wasn’t built-up and commercialized. The Villa itself really has everything you need. It’s extremely clean with beautiful craftsmanship. We weren’t looking to be entertained on this trip, we just wanted to get away from work, bring some books, get some rest, ride the bikes around Coco Plum and take in the local atmosphere. However, Aaron our gracious host, could have planned as many activities as we wanted! We did take advantage of a scuba/snorkel trip thanks to Aaron which took us to a 12 acre caye. The specific caye had the most beautiful beach – it tops some beautiful ones we’ve seen in Hawaii and Bali. My only complaints: I got lots of small bug bites – I think from the sand. My husband did not get any! As for the Treetop Villa, there isn’t a lot of privacy on the main level but there is privacy (curtains) on the top floor. You are not ocean front but you pretty much would be if it wasn’t for the lush vegetation Coco Plum has carefully maintained. I was surprised that there were not a lot of fresh foods available at the markets or grocery store (I guess we are just spoiled back home) but the food at the restaurants was fantastic and a wide variety! The beach right outside the Treetop Villa is very private and spans over a mile. Morning was best for swimming in the shallow water. Aaron was extremely helpful and is great at what he does – he has a lot of pride in Coco Plum and wants you to thoroughly enjoy your stay. Knowing that Aaron would be onsite was one of the reasons I chose to stay. We are happy to recommend Coco Plum and specifically the Treetop Villa!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 daughters, 17 and 19 years) stayed at the lovely Treetop Villa at Cocoplum on Placencia on Dec 22-30, 2012, and were completely taken with the location, the villa, the beach & everything. The villa is brand new and very beautifully appointed - with lovely tiles throughout the THREE full bathrooms, granite kitchen counters, new appliances, lovely linens and towels - just a terrific job all around. The bedroom downstairs has its own full bath and a separate entrance from the rest of the villa upstairs, which for us was perfect, but if you are a family with very small kids, it may be an issue. On the second level is the living, dining and kitchen and a lovely balcony/deck. The master bedroom is on the 3rd level, up a beautiful limestone staircase. It has a balcony w a lovely view of the ocean and two walk-in closets (his and hers) so there's plenty of room to spread out. The master bath is also large with a lovely window seat. The beds (Queen-size in both bedrooms) were extremely comfortable. The photos on this site are extremely accurate. And the AC worked perfectly. We were always comfortable. The beach is very close - only about 100 steps away (I counted) and has gentle, warm water, about 4 feet deep for quite a ways out, w pristine sand almost no sea grass or undergrowth. It is also extremely private and serene. Other than a few people walking their dogs along the beach now and then, you will never see anyone. I was initially concerned about not having a pool in case the beach was too rough to swim, but that was never an issue. There are Adirondack beach chairs set out reserved just for this Villa. Our host, Aaron, was incredible. So helpful when we needed it. He even came into town to help us in the middle of the evening when our rental car got a flat tire the first night. He arranged our day trip to ATM and made many wonderful suggestions about places to eat and visit. I highly recommend renting a car through Aaron. We rented from a local agency at the Belize City airport, but would have been better off going through Aaron. I recommend having a car, as the restaurants are 5-15 minutes away, and it's nice to be able to get around when you want. The roads from the Belize City airport to Placencia (about a 4 hour drive) are paved and very safe and easy to drive. The last leg is very pretty as well. The grocery markets in Placencia are well-stocked and the prices reasonable for a Caribbean locatRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind review! We're very glad you enjoyed yourself. In our humble opinion, Cocoplum is truly one of the hidden jewels of Belize. We're looking forward to having you back and are adding some amenities to make your villa stay more interesting. In the coming months we'll be adding patio furniture for the master bedroom terrace so you can enjoy that great view of the ocean and also a tandem fishing kayak and fishing gear for exploring the lagoons and coastline. As always, Aaron will be here to help with all your needs. Many thanks and we look forward to hosting you again soon!

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the aptly named Treetop Villa, perched atop the lush grounds of Cocoplum, just steps from the lagoon. The villa was everything the description and pictures promised! We found it to be immaculate upon arrival and the attention to detail throughout the house was quite apparent. The bedrooms were very spacious and the entire house was, at once, both comfortable and luxurious. My daughters and I especially loved the spa-like bathrooms as well as sitting out on the verandas. The kitchen was well equipped, down to the juicer we used for all the lemons and limes we picked right on the acerage (they made for some great cocktails). The property manager, Aaron, was extremely accommodating and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed, arranging a rental car for us, etc. And if the house itself wasn't enough reason to stay here, the beautiful, secluded beach on site made this an incredible vacation destination. I would highly recommend Placentia in general, and the Treetop Villa, specifically.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is a great place for a honeymoon or anniversary. We were looking for a place a little less touristy and off the usual beaten path. We found it short hop south of Belize City in CocoPlum on the Placencia peninsula. Offering first class luxury accommodations in a secluded tropical setting the villa is just minutes away from great dining, shopping, and the colorful local culture and fantastic activities that Belize is known for. The villa itself is nearly brand new, very clean, and custom finished in exotic hardwoods and limestone. The home is very well appointed and there is a flat screen TV, cable TV, DVD player, and wireless Internet - not that we used those much! My husband and I particularly enjoyed the huge two-person shower in the master bath which allowed us to share some quality time together after a refreshing swim in the sea. The villa is nestled in a quiet park-like jungle setting surrounded by white sands, mature trees, and flowering topical shrubs. There are two verandas for sipping drinks in the shade and taking in the beautiful ocean view and cool Carribbean breezes. The only chatter we heard was the chorus of tropical birds which greeted us every morning. A short walk down a nearby garden path and you're out on the wide private beach. The beach is nearly vacant most days - perfect for those romantic moonlight strolls in the sand! Our host Aaron was outstanding. He made sure the villa was stocked to our liking prior to our arrival, arranged for a rental car, and even picked us up at the airstrip. He truly went out of his way to make our experience a memorable one. We felt like VIPs from day one and when we left we felt like we were leaving a good friend behind. I would highly recommend a stay at the TreeTop villa in CocoPlum. It's a little bit further than Belize City and Ambergris, but well worth the extra half-hour flight it took to get here. I'd recommend a rental car...or if you like to bike, I believe Aaron has bikes available (if not, I know he'll find you some!). Don't miss the Rumfish Restaurant and the Maya Beach Bistro (fantastic breakfast!). And plan to visit the Jaguar Reserve at Cockscomb less than an hour away. Great jungle hiking with the chance to get cool under a tropical waterfall! We loved our stay at the TreeTop villa and I know we'll be returning again soon. Thank you so much Aaron! You truly made our first anniversary one we'll never forget!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

About the owner: 'Hello! And welcome to our little corner of paradise!' Wade and Beth hail from the mountains of Colorado. There they enjoy horseback riding and trout fishing in the aspen and pine forests of the Rockies. When seeking a place in the tropics, they were drawn to the Placencia peninsula because it was 'off the beaten track'. 'We wanted a place where we could still experience the true culture of Belize, both the coastal and the rural inland areas; something other than the increasingly touristy resort areas of Ambergris and Caye Caulker.' Beth is a self-described renaissance gal with the soul of a gypsy. She loves discovering new places and new cultures. She speaks Japanese and spent several years living on her own in a rural farming village in remote northern Japan. An avid animal lover, she enjoys working with her Arabian horses. Wade has a love for the surf, sand and the laid back Caribbean lifestyle. He spent several years working aboard cruise ships touring the Caribbean, Jamaica and the Bahamas. It was his experiences which inspired the couple to seek out the tropics of Belize. A talented musician, he enjoys relaxing on the veranda with his guitar and a cool rum & coke. Both Wade and Beth share a love for the quiet and solitude, the scenic natural beauty, and the rich archaeological history of southern Belize. From kayak fishing on hidden lagoons to touring ancient Mayan ruins to lounging on the beach beneath a shady palm, there's always something new to experience. 'We invite you to come discover all this wonderful country has to offer and are honored to have you as our guest in our home away from home.'
