We had the most wonderful time! The place is a gem and the perftect combination of great amenities while still being very charming. Listing discription was totally accurate. The photos were accurate but could not begin to capture the charm and craftmanship of the barn. The property was clean, well maintained, and had everything you needed from fully stocked kitchen items to Aveda & Meyers products. The owner is very nice and was willing to help with anything needed. Quick to respond to email, text, phone calls regarding any questions prior to or during the stay. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Perfect cozy little cabin to just get away and stay snuggled in during a beautiful winter day. Within walking distance of ski trails, very remote, and yet easy to get to town or Giants Ridge.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Greengate guesthouse is a great place to stay. It has all the modern conveniences that you will have access to. Great friendly environment to be at. I consider it a home away from my own. Its within 3 miles of the well known ski area of Giants Ridge. I highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone who may vacation in the area of Biwabik.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

Great place! I really enjoyed my stay here! Wifi, stereo system, and big screen T.V. made for all the comforts of home, and as a young adult, it was nice! This is a rustic place but it has all the amenities for a young adult who wants to stay in touch with the world.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

This is my second stay at GreenGate and it seems to get better each time. Every detail to make your stay comfortable and relaxing is thought of, from the complimentary coffees/creamer/granola bars to the binder with local restaurant information so we could order pizza! The Sleep Number bed and organic pillows/sheets made for a peaceful nights' slumber. Some of our party skiied at Giants Ridge, others spent time hanging out in the barn and walking in the pristine snow on the grounds. The almost-full moon was incredible as it came over the tree tops at night and illuminated the snow. I highly encourage anyone looking for a unique vacation experience to stay here. The architecture is detailed and authentic, and the owner is more than willing to share information about the building process and different "green" systems that are embedded in the property to keep its' (and its' guests) eco-footprint small.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, peaceful and relaxing setting for a quick getaway before Christmas to celebrate my birthday! Shawn, your attention to detail is simply amazing. This truly has the comforts of home- but with more 'techy' bonuses! Take-out from Vi's pizza and birthday cake was so fun to celebrate around the 'round table'. Watching Christmas movies, enjoying the fire and popcorn ended a perfect night. We spent the day in Chisolm at Discovery World then had an absolute hoot with the locals for dinner at Valentini's! We look forward to a return trip during the summer in the future!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers.

My recent stay at Green Gate Guest House was all I expected it to be and more. The facility is cozy and warm with beautiful craftsmanship throughout. Everything was very clean and organized. The beds were super comfy with organic sheets for a good nights sleep. There is easy access from the property to the river that has walking paths along it. It's a wonderful escape from our fast paced world! I will definitely come back again.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I suppose the most important thing I could say is that I didn't want to leave. I suspect most people that stay at Green Gate feel the same way.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

There were four of us that stayed at the Green Gate house this fall. We all had a blast! The house is very cozy, and it is filled with every amenity imaginable. We also loved the stairs down to the river; they are beautifully crafted. We all plan on coming back to stay again next year. Shawn did a great job, and we look forward to our next trip!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Truth in advertising? In this case, the descriptions, photos, and other reviews seem HUGELY UNDERSTATED in comparison to the actual property! In addition to being MORE than described/pictured, we were impressed with the amount we LEARNED when staying here... about possibilities... My sons and I spent ten days exploring the area (biking, hiking, canoeing, birding) and barely scratched the surface of things we would have liked to have done or seen! We would HIGHLY recommend staying here! We would love to come back again! Shawn (the owner) is wonderful - very helpful, prompt, pleasant, patient, industrious, and interesting!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Green Gate. The area is beautiful and the barn house is amazing. The owners put a lot of work and heart into it. They really thought of everything to make sure their guests have everything they need. The house was very comfortable for four adults and two young children. It was very clean, spacious and just beautiful. We did a lot of fun things in the area, took couple of day trips, went to the lake, enjoyed the bike trails for running and biking. Overall great experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
