The location of the apartment is undeniably convenient. The balcony is very spacious. On the other hand, I found multiple problems as well. When I arrived, I was given a key and was told that the key would work both at the entrance of the building in which the apartment is located as well as the front door of the apartment. It did not strike me at that time that this meant that anyone who had a key to the building entrance (which means ALL residents, at the very least) could enter the apartment as well. The French doors leading to the balcony have a grip only on one side. Essentially, this means that if you step out in the balcony, you have to leave the door slightly ajar. My husband and I stepped out in the balcony, and closed the door behind us, only to to realize that we were locked out since there is no grip on the door on the balcony side. Luckily, the window in the kitchen was unlocked, otherwise we would have been in a huge amount of trouble. Of course, we were not warned about this and there was no note anywhere in the apartment to inform us about this. The shower head in shower cubicle is fixed but quite low, so if you are anything close to six feet in height, you will keep hitting the shower head. The commode is right next to the cabinet under the sink, so there is hardly any space on one side (and you will notice that none of the photos posted show it). There is no exhaust fan or window in the bathroom, which explains why the paint is peeling off in several places. The kitchen is oddly furnished. There was no sugar, just two cups, and some of the pans were so big they could be used to cook for a very large gathering. Maybe it would be a good idea for the owner to do an inventory check, and do it occasionally. I also found communicating with the owner (and her daughter, who checked us in) a trying affair. Everything was fine till the apartment was booked. After booking the apartment, and before visiting Nice, I wrote to the owner a few times to seek clarifications. It became a steady pattern. I would write to her, and but would receive no reply. I would then send a reminder to her and request her to answer the original email. She would then respond, and first say that she was sorry and that she thought she had already answered my email, and then give me an incomplete and rambling response to my original email. All in all, I am not impressed by the apartment and certainly not by the owner’s attitude.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.

Sylvie's apartment was everything promised in her description. I selected this apartment for its accessibility to the tramway and the safety features of the building. Upon arrival the apartment was immaculate and Sylvie made sure we had and knew everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Any concerns were quickly addressed via e-mails (I did not have a phone, only iPad). I particularly appreciated the very comfortable bed, the heated terrace, the view of mountains and sky and the generous storage areas. A Francophile, I appreciate every opportunity to spend time in "La belle France." Nice has it all : the marché, art museums, wonderful food, charming little streets in vieux Nice, and, of course, the sea. I was thrilled to sit by the water in December and feel the sun as I listened to the water. Merci Beaucoup, Sylvie.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This review is really late - sorry! I stayed in this apartment with my wife for three nights in March 2012. This may well be the best apartment-type rental I have ever enjoyed. The location is quite good: it is above the Nice Etoile shopping center so it is very easy to get around. Inexpensive trams run right out the main entrance and it is close to the sea (a 15 minute walk), the train stations, the bus stations, and taxis. The apartment is located high above the street so it is very quiet at night yet one can get to shopping, restaurants, and night life very easily. We drove a car into Nice from Aix-en-Provence. We could park in the Etoile parking deck while we met the owner's agent and daughter who helped us settle in to the apartment. If one came by train or bus it would very easy to get to this location because of the trams that run along the rue Jean Medecin in front of the property. The photos of the place are accurate but they do not quite do it justice. The view from the balcony is delightful - it does not take in the sea but it looks out over the rooftops of what must be the north-east part of the city and surroundings. The red roofs and white facades of Nice are lovely, especially in the evening, and we had the distinct pleasure of witnessing a fat, orange, full moon illuminating the city. Divine. There are outdoor heaters to allow comfortable lounging even in cool weather... The apartment itself is perfect for a couple. The kitchen is stocked sufficiently to allow for more than basic cooking. The lavatory and shower are clean and modern. The shower is a multi-jet thing that is wonderful after a day of touring. The Murphy bed was a concern but it is actually very firm and comfortable. There is wifi and a washing machine (small but functional). The entire apartment is clean and well-appointed; the owner is very attentive to her guests' needs and will answer questions by email very promptly if needed. There is a Monoprix just across the street for groceries. The old city is a quick walk away and there are numerous cafes, restaurants, bars, and brasseries in the neighborhood. The bus system is easy to use and it is not difficult to get to attractions such as the Matisse museum (the owner provides a lot of tourist maps in the apartment to help). In short, it would be hard to think of a better place to stay in Nice unless you insist on staying by the shore. I am planning on a longer visit in a couple of years and I hope to stay here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
