Come, enjoy yourself and relax at beautiful Lake Gaston on the North Carolina and Virginia border. This three-bedroom, two-bath, cute, lakefront home is located on a short cove just off the main lake on the southwest corner, easily accessible from Interstate 85. The cove water is calm and cool, great for a family, and only 150 yards from the main lake.
Put your boat in at the neighborhood ramp and tie up at the dock, ready for touring the lake, skiing, and fishing. The large dock (25 by 30) provides plenty of space for lunch, swimming, and family events. The deck over the boathouse provides a breathtaking view of the cove and the main lake.
This cozy cottage is comfortable and provides easy living and beautiful views of the waterfront and the lake from the kitchen, living room, and the master bedroom. The cottage is clean and nicely decorated with full wall glass doors for great views of the lake from inside. A covered deck outside the kitchen and living room makes meals with a view a snap at anytime. The great room was recently refinished and new pictures will be available in 2010.
Bring your jet-ski, boat, water toys, sunscreen, and fishing poles for a fun, relaxing time with your family. Its an ideal vacation spot for swimming and water activities. Boats and pontoon boats available for rent at local marinas.
The home is located on a short private road and has a large circular stone driveway. The subdivision boat ramp is two doors down and is available for renters. It's extremely quiet, except for the frogs and crickets. Convenient to I-85 and I-95. E-mail owner for more pictures, maps and directions if interested. NO SMOKING, NO PETS. Lake Gaston is one of the truly superior lakes in the country, located centrally between Highways 85 and 95 on the North Carolina and Virginia border. It covers 20,300 acres, 34 miles long, and has over 350 miles of shoreline.
The lake has very little water level fluctuation year round and has the highest water-quality rating in eastern USA (North Carolina Stream Sanitation Commission, A2 rating). The lake is well stocked with game fish including striped and largemouth bass, bream, crappie, sunfish, and several varieties of catfish. Lake Gaston has an average depth of 40+ feet (~80+ feet deep near eastern end near dam).
Map, directions and guide to marinas and restaurants on the lake will be provided with rental contract. Please note that Mapquest does not properly show the cove. There is plenty of water around this house and dock!

This was our first experience with a "vacation rental". We are used to staying in 4-5 star resorts. We weren't really sure what our expectations should be. The communication between owner and renter was much appreciated as this was our first visit to Lake Gaston. The owner supplied us with maps of the lake and surrouding area. We were greeted by a family friend who walked us through the house, and answered any questions we had. The view from the kitchen and master bedroom are very nice, it is definitely a relaxing place to stay. There is a large tree in the back yard that provided much shade, and the oversized dock provided plenty of room to fish and swim. The water is very murky, and my daughter was quite scared at first, but by the end of the week she was jumping in. It was nice having hi speed internet since our At&t phones couldn't get a signal. We were told about this prior to arrival and brought a satellite phone to use during our stay. The television did lose the signal several times during our stay...we played DVD's instead during his time. There are also no televisions on the 2nd floor. As a side note, we had to haul of all of our garbage to the local dump..whose hours were not always convenient. We are defintely not used to this and had a hard time putting dirty trash in the back of our new SUV, again we were told about this prior to our arrival and didn't give it much thought, it proved to be a much bigger task especially since the day we left, the dump was closed. What is a person supposed to do then? We certainly didn't have any room left in our car with all of our luggage. Well we found out, when $50.00 was taken out of our security deposit. It crossed our mind to leave it on the side of the road, but instead we drove it back to the property and placed it in the garbage can in front of the house. I would not recommend this property to someone who is elderly as all 3 bedrooms are on the second floor. The stairs leading up to the second floor are rather narrow. Also it was very hard to regulate the temperature between top and bottom floors. The bottom floor was considerably colder than the 2nd floor, so those of us that wanted to stay up late had to use blankets to keep warm. Overall this was a relaxing place to vacation, we however learned that we are not the "vacation rental" type of people and prefer to have housekeeping and garbage disposal included in our stay.
