The drive includes a basketball court and an area for ping-pong (folded table easily wheels from the garage to the drive). An elevated front porch looks over the manicured front yard and garden beds offering a quiet retreat for morning coffee or afternoon reading. The front yard yields to a private stone patio where you can enjoy quiet meals and conversation around a classic teak table appointed with high back wicker chairs. This charming outdoor patio is perched just above the the pool area and beside a large magnolia tree providing both shaded and unobstructed views along with the calming sound of a bubbling stone water feature. There is a pergola at one end of the pool with comfy outdoor furniture along with plenty of other outdoor seating and longing options around the deck area. Eight family members from four generations spent a week this July in and around Portland, Oregon. Ranging in age from 10-91, we participated in a wide variety of activities. Regrouping as we went along, some made trips to the coast, some explored in and around Portland, and still others enjoyed the quiet retreat-like, atmosphere this property had to offer. We could not have found a location more suited to our family dynamic. While providing a full range of amenities, this property has a very lush, quiet, peaceful sense of seclusion. It is in close enough proximity to the city to provide access to all that Portland has to offer in the way of activities, while being a destination vacation retreat unto itself. We could not recommend this home more highly for anyone who plans a trip to Portland, and wants to come home feeling that they have truly been refreshed. We have been making frequent trips to Portland since one of our children moved there several years ago. This has been by far the best overall lodging experience we have had to date. The many personal touches give this property just the right combination of historic elegance and the comforts of home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Our family stayed at this awesome house for a week, during festivities for our daughter's wedding at the nearby Crystal Springs Garden site. We enjoyed every minute of our time in this charming, well-appointed home. Everything was perfect: making the reservations, rules and directions for house use, welcoming tour by Ananicia, beautiful yet comfortable accommodations. A delightful memory-maker.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Wow, where do I start. We had a very unique situation. Our son was marrying a girl from the Portland area, and being from north Texas, we didn't know much of the area. There were family members from 4 states, our daughter was baking the wedding cake to serve 150+, and we were to host the rehearsal party of 50 guest in a Texas style backyard BBQ. This home and outdoor space passed with flying colors. We used the home for a total of a full week, Wednesday to Wednesday. Family members ranged in ages from 30 to 59, everyone slept well every night, and mostly all in real beds. There were 9 total in our party, but most of the time, only 8. The groom only there a couple of nights. If you count the bunk bed room downstairs, there are 4 full bedrooms. There was also plenty of secondary sleeping options (fold outs, etc.) available, which we did not need. The 2 full baths upstairs and 2 half baths down, made sure no one had to wait too long to do their business. Our daughter was to bake the 4 tier Bride's and 2 layer Groom's cakes. The kitchen was more than adequate. Gas stove, large refrig, and large prep counter area made this task as easy as being home. The outdoor spaces were used for the wedding rehearsal (since is was an outdoor wedding) and the rehearsal party with 49 quest. A local restaurant, Russell Street BBQ and my wife (again in the kitchen) provided the food. Only a couple of folding tables for food and a couple of coolers for beer/wine were bought in. The rest was there. Beautiful lush landscaping, outdoor lighting, seating, porches, patios, etc. was all there. I haven't even mentioned the very spacious common areas of the home, living/dining rooms, the office with wi-fi,2 laundry rooms, equipped kitchen, pool/hot tub, close proximity to everywhere, easy access to/from airport, plenty of local shops within walking distance, multiple grocery stores (important for bakers/cooks), very secluded and private, cleanliness, furnishings, chess set, piano, etc, etc, etc. After finding this home in the online VRBO listing, several emails and chats with the owner made this home sound like it would fit the bill. Any and all doubts were put to rest when we first saw this property in person. We would do it again (hope we don't have to) in a heart beat. This review may sound like an info-mercial, but I'm just stating fact, it worked for us 110%. Good luck with your trip. I don't know the pet policy, or disability requirements, so can't answer those questions.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The house was as described, clean, and very nice. We spent most of our time outside by and in the pool. Only drawback is the neighbors are very sensitize to outdoor conversations past 11pm.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Just returned from 4 nights at this wonderful property on a family trip to Portland. The home is every bit as beautiful as presented in the photos. Reservation was easy. The owner emailed during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Spacious, well equipped, nicely decorated, historic home with all the modern updates and comforts you need. Home owner also provided tips and pointers on activities and restaurants near by. We had three boys 8, 5, and 2 who loved the bunk beds, pool, games and toys, and big yard. Mom and Dad appreciated the comfortable king sized bed, well appointed kitchen, spa tub connected to the pool and luxurious master suite. Located in a beautiful neighborhood about 10 minutes outside downtown with quick access to a variety of stores, restaurants, attractions and parks.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My husband, new baby and I stayed in this absolutely beautiful home during May of 2012. It was an idyllic place to be. We used the hot tub all the time, and also had great pool weather during the month. The setting is quiet and peaceful, but only 15 minutes from downtown Portland, and 5 minutes or less from shops in Sellwood, including one of the most sumptuous grocery stores around. The house is very spacious, with enough room for a big group, but it feels cozy too. It's got great character too. Couldn't recommend it more highly!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
