Lovely setting and house. We were there 12 nights. Lots of steps but great views and facilities. Staff was amazingly responsible and follow up with a few minor glitches was exceptional compared to many other experiences with many agents. One difficulty was the dishwasher. Too many tries needed to repair. Not a staff issue though. All lined up for next year!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children.

The property was very clean & included many kitchen & bath amenities. We loved how spacious & roomy the home felt- with so many different areas & common spaces, everyone had somewhere to go or something to do. In addition, the home is ideally located. The property backs up right on the canal & is only a short walk from the beach. We took advantage of all that the home had to offer, particularly the enclosed pool & the dock. The wildlife & fishing was great too! Other benefits included: -grill -washer & dryer -billiards room -multiple sun decks -spacious pantry -two refrigerators -two dining areas -multiple bedrooms & bathrooms -pool shower -nature preserve (about a 15 minute drive from house) The only issues we had consisted of the following: -the Wi-Fi did not extend to the lower level apartment, so any computer use was limited to the upstairs -the pool was not consistently heated throughout the duration of our stay -the outlet on the dock was not working -mattress on the downstairs pull-out bed was very uncomfortable -no stand mixer in the kitchen With that being said, they property management promptly rectified the issues that we brought to their attention. They immediately replaced the coffee pot & came out to adjust the pool temperature (it just never seemed to stay warm). Overall, the benefits certainly outweighed any issues we may have had during our stay. We had a wonderful time! We would definitely recommend this home!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

We stayed at Heron House over Easter Break...2 adults and 4 teens....We had an amazing time. The house was just as promised.Plenty of space for everyone. Especially nice was the apartment on the lower level. It had two bdrms and three baths along with a kitchen and living room with TV. An adjacent room housed a pool table.....It was like a dream come true for two teenage boys! The space would also be perfect for another couple or family as it had it's own entrance. We especially enjoyed the view from the upper deck, overlooking a dock. The dock is perfect for fishing...I understand the area at the dock is one of the better fishing spots in Captiva. From the porch we saw small fishing boats, paddleboarders and kayaks. The best was watching the pelicans and seabirds, not to mention the dolphins and manatees! The access to the beach was a five minute walk from the house (across the street). Beautiful white sandy beach..lots of shells and no people...even though it was Easter Break. Most of our trip entailed pool and beach time. One day we did go kayaking at Buck Island. Very fun, although more challenging than I would have thought. We had an amazing dinner at Tesoro's on Sanibel. It was probably one of the best meals we've ever had. It's a very small restaurant, but delicious. We know we were in for a treat when we walked in and saw the antipasto platters in the (open) kitchen window. The house had a gas grill and dining table by the pool. We shopped at Jerry's Grocery Store on Sanibel. What a nice store..wonderful selection (try the cinnamon bread..Really....try it). I would suggest making a stop on your way to the house. Even if you've had a long flight or drive..it's worth the time. Beside the grocery store, there are several small shops in the complex, along with ice cream and large tropical birds to see....perfect for entertaining children and husbands. As you might imagine, the store is a bit pricey, but everything on Sanibel and Captiva, is. I would definitely recommend this property, or return in the future. The people at Kingfisher were excellent to work with, and very patient fielding all our questions.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

The Heron house was beautiful, well maintained and very clean. ( I actually thought the house looked better in person than the pictures on the web site). We loved the location on Captiva. The back of the house had a gorgeous view of the water. We saw more wildlife(birds, dolphin, fish, manatee) from the dock of the house than we did when we visited Ding Darling Refuge. The kids loved it. I most definitely would recommend this property to a friend. In fact, we had friends to visit while we were there. They were most impressed. The shelling in the early morning and late afternoon was just a short walk to the beach from the house and an added pleasure to our vacation. We all(8 family members)had a wonderful vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Wow. What a house! We loved our time at the Heron House. Each day dawned with a pelican parade, dolphin show and birds galore, viewed right from our kitchen window, balcony, or out on the pier. After we managed to pull ourselves away from the entertainment out in the channel, we enjoyed a dip in the warm private pool and then breakfast in the beautiful kitchen or large dining room or back out on the balcony. The dining and large living room's tropical views are enhanced with floor to ceiling windows and doors, bringing in loads of sunshine. A quick walk to the beach rewarded us every time with unbelievable shells and sunsets. The house is uniquely designed with outside steps to the lower level, which has a separate apartment complete with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and another living room, full kitchen and pool/game room with separate large shower/bathroom. We were quite pleased with the owners quick response to our calls about minor issues. We cannot say enough about how relaxing our time was at the Heron House and we can't wait to return next year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
