Location: Princeton, Minnesota, USA (15 miles west of Cambridge)

Accommodations:  Lake Cabin / Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)

Why drive 3-5 hours 'up north' when everything you want in a lake cabin getaway is so close?
You will be less than 60 miles from downtown Minneapolis.

This is a seasonal cabin/cottage. It is not a 'lake home.' The cabin is 75 feet from the lake. The land is level, meaning you can watch children playing near or in the water from the cabin. The yard has plenty of room for croquet or badminton. Imagine relaxing in the hammock while your children play in the shallow water. Watch bald eagles soar & listen to loon calls. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the dock. Gaze at stars away from city lights. Roast marshmallows over an evening fire. Can you visualize your family getaway here?

This knotty pine walled cabin has 4 rooms including 2 bedrooms & over 800 square feet. You have a clear lake front view from 3 rooms. The front bedroom has a queen bed & lakefront view. The back bedroom with a bunk bed, converts to twins. The beds & futon have excellent mattresses. The kitchen is furnished with plenty of cookware, tableware & appliances, but no dishwasher. Living room has a sleeper sofa and swivel wicker chairs. Newer knotty cedar front room added in 2001 has (7) lake view windows, a futon couch/bed & large dining table. The bathroom has stand up shower stall with hose spray nozzle (handy for bathing small children.) Bedsheets, blankets, bathroom & kitchen towels are provided.

TV picks up the Mpls.-St. Paul & St. Cloud stations. Bring some books, CD's, DVD's or VHS tapes for when you've had too much fun in the sun & water. We don't have internet access, however there is a coffee shop in Princeton with free WiFi.

Green Lake (828 acres) is the largest lake in Isanti County. You can see most of it from our shore. It's big enough for many boats to do their thing and not disturb others on the lake or land, unlike many smaller lakes. Surprisingly, Green Lake is not a busy lake except on holidays & fishing opener weekend. The walleye fishing is strong; they are stocked every other year. Largemouth bass, northern & crappie fishing is also good. Sunnies & perch are easy for kids to catch with worms. We have good success fishing in front of the cabin and off the dock early in the season. You can learn more at the MN DNR website. A bait shop is 5 min. away open 6AM-6PM.

Our lake & swimming area has a sandy bottom with no rocks. Weeds (if any) can be easily raked out. Swim out 150 feet & touch the lake bottom in about 6 feet of water (depending on lake water levels)

Adults can use our paddle boat & canoe. 19 foot pontoon available for rent. You can also bring your boat & tie it inside the "L" of our sturdy 70 foot aluminum dock which was new in 2005. The public access has a concrete boat ramp/landing.

We are located 10 minutes from Princeton and 15 from Cambridge. Both have plenty of restaurants and a large 24 hour supermarket. The Hi-Way Inn bar/tavern is 1 mile away. Close enough to walk for burgers, pizza & drinks. 5 minutes away is the Pine Brook Inn serving steak, walleye & more.

Golf? - Purple Hawk in Cambridge or The Princeton Golf Club.
Learn more about them on any internet search engine.
Tennis? - Free courts available at the high school in Princeton.

More pictures of our property? - I'll email them to you.
Video? I recently posted on You Tube under user name "EliasGreenLake" no spaces between words. I'm not real proud of the video, or ready to become a film maker, but it tells you more about the property.

No Smoking inside the cabin - No Pets on the property.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1998

We are Tami & Stephen. This picture was taken 12/08 in Puerto Vallarta where we rented a VRBO condo. We married in 1991 & have have 2 son's who love the lake property & water sports.

Why the Owner Chose Princeton

We bought this lake cabin/cottage in January 1998 so we could spend weekends at the lake with our boys who were 1 & 5 years of age. We live about 60 miles away in suburban Minneapolis.
Since then, we've had made many great memories with family, friends, & now renters. In '09 our boys are now 12 & 16, & busy with summer activies. Consequently, the lake place does not get much use. We started renting 5 years ago to good people we've met thru VRBO. We've also rented other vacation properties on VRBO. We know both sides of the owner/renter equation.

The Unique Benefits of this Lake Cabin / Cottage

At our place, you get the real lake cabin experience. It feels like you are in the northwoods, yet you have comfor knowing civilization (hospital, 24 hour grocery, restaurants) is just 10 minutes away. Our property is great for young kids. Some of our guests are grandparents who rent the place to spend time with children and grandchildren. Green Lake is largest lake in Isanti County, which at 828 acres is not very big for Minnesota. You can see 90% of the lake from our yard. Our lake is big enough for boats & jet ski's have plenty of room to buzz around and not bother other boaters or people on shore.

This is the owner typing; for the last 5 years, we did not utilize the "renter comments" option. Instead I offered a reference phone call list to interested renters. Today, I opened that option, and contacted some recent renters with an invitation to return this summer. The following is copied from an email Rev. David Parker sent me today. His family rented our place for a week in late June, 2007. "Stephen, All is very well with our family. Last January we had yet another child--3 in total--and that's it! Sarah and I just talked about your cabin this weekend. While we're looking at trying a "group" vacation with some friends from church this year, I have begged to go back to your place--maybe next year. I'll keep in touch. Thanks for the email... Peace, David"

This is copied from an email I kept from Dave & Brenda Jackson – dated 4/24/05 – they were cabin renters in summer 2004. They live in from Florida "Hi Steven, We haven't made specific plans for this summer due to school and work schedules. Thanks for the offer and the new additions you made sound great. We loved our stay last summer and would like to be "snow birds" one day.(Florida in the winter and Minnesota in the summer). If you ever hear of a cabin for sale in your area, please let us know. It would be fun to be neighbors. Take care and we will keep in touch if our plans work out. Dave and Brenda Jackson"
