Colombaia means "dovecote" in Italian and this beautiful trullo exudes all the tranquillity that one associates with the symbol of peace.
Set in delightful gardens with a stylish private swimming pool, the house has lovely character and many creature comforts.
In the main house there is a small country kitchen with oven, hob and fridge freezer. This leads to an indoor dining area in one of the oldest parts of the house, right under the trullo cones. From here there is a stone corridor to the spacious and comfortable sitting room with sofas, TV & DVD player and patio doors out to the pergola. Two bedrooms are accessed from this sitting room the en suite master double and a second double with its own shower room just opposite. There is also a handy utility room with washing machine. Wi-fi internet access is available at the house.
The other two bedrooms are located a few meters from the main house in what is known locally as a “lamia” a stone building with a vaulted-barrel roof. One bedroom is a double and the other has twin beds. A shower room is located between the two bedrooms.
The pergola is perfect for outdoor dining. Old vines that adorn the side of the house will one day engulf the seating area, already perfumed by surrounding herbs and fragrant flowers. The swimming pool is a generous 15 x 5 meters and allows for decent length swimming or indulgent cooling dips.
The entire trullo is surrounded by the rolling countryside typical of the Valle D’Itria and is located 8km from the relatively undiscovered town of Ceglie Messapica, famous for its gastronomic traditions.
The Italian owner of Trullo La Colombaia lives in England and has lovingly converted this charming old building to create a superb holiday home with taste and wide appeal.
