St. Tropez villa description

Belle Colline is a family friendly luxury villa in the heart of the vineyards of the Côtes de Provence wine region, near the picturesque village of Plan de la Tour. It is a wonderful place to relax and unwind in the peaceful French countryside, but is also only a short drive from the hustle and bustle of coastal towns such as St.Tropez, Ste. Maxime and Frejus, so there is easy access to a great selection of beaches. Hilltop villages Grimaud and La Garde Freinet are also nearby.

With 4 bedrooms in the main house and a separate self contained cottage sleeping up to 4, Belle Colline offers accommodation for up to 3 families or one extended family.

Amenities include:

- heated pool with safety fence
- pool house with BBQ
- outdoor games e.g. floodlit boules, table tennis
- free WiFi, satellite TV, DVD player
- washing machine + dryer

Belle Colline has recently undergone a complete renovation - both house and garden have been redesigned and the result is a stunning setting for a memorable family holiday.

We have enjoyed our 1 week stay in Belle Colline villa. The house has everything you need and is a good base for exploring the stylish ancient places around plus the beautiful beaches, the closest is 15 min drive away. In September, the touristic locations are not so crowded so you can have quite peaceful times. Plan de la Tour has many restaurants with delicious food, you dont need to cook by yourself, it would be a shame not to taste all the special food outside ! Thanks for the service provided by the owner and hospitality! Looking forward to being back soon.

Just finished a wonderful holiday at Belle Colline. Beautifully furnished and wonderful outdoor areas including lovely swimming pool, boule piste and dining area. Very well located for exploring the local area, including local town of Plan de la Tour, St Tropez and the hilltop villages. The villa is full of child-friendly toys, books, films and music and has all the equipment to make the villa a true home-from-home experience. The villa was clean and very well looked after, with all sorts of extra help available if required, such as private caterers, etc. We will return!

Belle Colline is the most charming house designed entirely around having a good time. From the moment we turned off the main road and drove through the surrounding vineyards we knew we had stumbled upon something very special. The house revealed itself to us set within vineyards, the custom made vintage outdoor lights a-glow, framed by lavender and the sound of birdsong. It was like stepping into the most wonderful romantic novel, and we all felt truly smug to be in such a place. The inside has been modelled to make the most of family and friend get togethers with beautiful entertaining spaces, where you will want fro nothing. From the roaring fire, with wood and kindling all stocked up for you to the gorgeous dining room which catches the early morning sun, to the wide terrace that overlooks the valley where we had many a candlelit dinner. There is even a very well hidden entertainment system so you can play your tunes as you lay the table or cook up some delicious local produce from the picture perfect village just down the road while looking out the picture window at the landscaped gardens and inviting swimming pool. The pool also has its own dining area complete with BBQ and boules pitch, which was a real giggle after a local wine fuelled lunch. The information left in the villa by the owners provides brilliant trips out, and the lovely gentleman who met us to show us round couldn't have been more helpful. We felt very much looked after. The attention to detail is what sets Belle Colline apart from its competitors; the bed sheets are all 100% linen and the bathrooms have had no expense spared. It is luxurious, romantic and set the scene for a holiday with our loved ones which we will never ever forget, and which we hope to re-live in the future.

Thank you for an incredible five weeks at Belle Colline! it is a home away from home, perfect for small children with every single comfort to please any whim. The house is immaculately designed by a knowing eye, with attention to detail without losing out on being practical, from the fridge in the pool house to the four different dining areas to fit any weather condition and seat 10 people. The property is highly recommendable to those with children as the little ones can roam around freely in complete safety, the pool is fenced and the house is on one floor without steps or hazards. The kitchen is fully equipped with plastic plates and cutlery, high chairs, foot stools- the works. Perfect for travelling light. Having said that, this is equally ideal an place for a romantic evening or ten... sitting on the terrace, watching the sun set behind the mountains and over the vineyards. Only 30 mins away from the shopping, dining and glamour of St Tropez and 5 minutes drive from scenic Plan de la Tour, this is the perfect base from which to explore Var, Provence and the Cote d'Azure. We will be back and wish we could keep Belle Colline a secret!

The Belle Colline is a little piece of paradise and we cannot wait to return. We were excited about our stay based on the stunning photos on the site and from all the help and recommendations from Stephen and Jill. The property is even more beautiful than you expect, nestled between the vineyards and with stunning views all around. It’s an extremely peaceful setting, which provides for a very relaxing holiday. As others have commented, the property has been renovated with the utmost care, every detail has been thought of to ensure a perfect stay. There’s really something for everyone at the Belle Colline. If you want to head out for an excursion to the local villages, Plan de La Tour is about a 30 minutes drive to many interesting towns and beaches. It’s also great to do the short drive to St Maxime and take the ferry over to St Tropez. You can also decide to stay at the house, enjoying the idyllic pool, preparing a delicious lunch (after visiting the local markets or picking up the essentials in Plan de la Tour) or playing a game of petanque. We can’t wait to go back!

Owner response: Pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay so much! The fresh produce from the local markets is indeed fantastic - however if you return in the late summer then you should feel free to pick lemons, oranges, figs, pears and of course olives from our own garden!

We cannot say enough about Belle Colline! It took our breath away and we cannot wait to return! It was home base for our first trip to the Cote d'Azur and this house MADE our vacation! Our friends still talk about it a year later. The owners are so helpful, kind and easy to deal with. We traveled with 4 young children and 5 adults. Everyone felt like a King/Queen. Everything was sparkling clean, well appointed and luxurious. The owners have done a fantastic job of making this home very child friendly and group friendly...happy kids = happy parents. This was truly a grand oasis within a short skip to Plan de la Tour. The Village is so cute and has everything you could really need. Thank you so much for making our vacation so special.

We recently stayed here and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Since having our children (2 daughters aged 1yr and 3yr) we have only stayed at all inclusive resorts but this Villa had been recommended to us and it has exceeded all our expectations. The Villa itself has been decorated to a high standard and has a wonderfully welcoming feel immediately as you arrive. The place is spotlessly clean and has all the mod cons you would ever wish to have - like a home from home. The pool temperature is maintained so and early evening dip was always possible. All aspects of the house have been carefully thought through so you feel relaxed from the moment you arrive. Our children loved the pool and we managed a couple of days at the beach as all the local points of interest are so easliy accessible. I would definitely recommend this Villa.

We visited Belle Colline in April this year with our five month old daughter. It was our first trip away with her and we were a bit anxious about how we would manage. However, we needn’t have worried as the house and grounds were fantastically equipped. The only thing we had to bring was her bottle as everything else was there, including bouncy chair and steriliser. As soon as we arrived we felt relaxed and at home. The house is beautiful and luxurious, the views spectacular and the pool lovely and warm even on a chilly day. The wonderful patios at the front and back of the house meant that we could make the most of the Spring sunshine all day and in the evening we sat sipping wine from the local vineyard and looking across the valley never wanting to leave. On a couple of colder nights we had to stay indoors in the evening but it gave us the chance to curl up in front of the gorgeous open fire which more than made up for it. There was a great walk from the house which was steep in parts but exhilarating when we were rewarded with the panoramic view of St Tropez and the Med laid out before us. We did some sight-seeing, there are some really pretty French villages a short drive away, but we really felt so relaxed that we were happy to laze around the pool and occasionally stretch our legs to play boule. At least this gives us the excuse of coming back as soon as possible to see some more!

When we read the instructions, it was an easy to find location. As remote and peaceful as we expected, but close enough to the village to cycle there for the baguettes and pastries for breakfast. Everything about the villa was exactly as described but also some of the local wine for us to sample was left as a courtesy by the owners. Best of all (we had small children with us), the pool area is totally secured and this relieved a lot of stress about our "little monkeys" falling in. The kitchen area and BBQ by the pool was heavenly, with a fridge to keep the refreshments cool. the environment was fabulous. Grimaud was gorgeous with great restaurants and Port Grimaud was the most pleasant tourist trap I have ever visited. St Tropez and Cannes were an easy drive away. Best of all was the private cook recommended by the owners - she made a heavenly meal for us and for the kids. I dont like chocolate, but I had two helping of her fondant. The lemon chicken was heavenly - I cannot reproduce the dish, even though I watched as she made it. For what we received and the effort she put in - worth every cent. Forget recommending it to family or friends - I would like to keep it a secret! We look forward to a return visit next year.

My husband and I stayed at Belle Colline for a week in May 2011 with a friend and another couple. We also brought our 1 year old daughter with us. We hired a car at Nice airport and were safely installed at Belle Colline in less than an hour. The property itself is exactly as it appears in the photos: clean, tidy and very spacious. There is also a lovely family feel to the place, and it is well stocked with everything you need including necessities for young babies. The pool area and pool house are fantastic for playing in, cooking on the BBQ or just relaxing on a lounger with a book. The surrounding countryside is very appealing and a 30 minute walk brings you into the idyllic hamlet town of Plan de la Tour. There is also a large Carrefour supermarket about 15 minutes drive from the villa where you will find everything you need for your stay. Grimaud is about a 45 minute drive away as is St. Tropez and St. Maxime, all three being great places to visit on a day trip. I would highly recommend Belle Colline as a holiday destination and hope to return there this year.

Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owner response: Really glad you enjoyed your stay with your friends and of course your little one! Hopefully when you come back we'll make sure you learn about the back route to St Tropez and Grimaud from Belle Colline that reduces the journey time to 20-25 mins.

About the owner: We are a family with two toddlers based in London who want to be able to relax when we arrive at Belle Colline in the safe knowledge everything is perfectly set up! As a result we have everything you need for a family holiday already setup inc spare pushchairs, highchairs, stairgates, cots etc so we (and you) can travel that little bit lighter.

Why the Owner Chose St. Tropez:
Very well connected with frequent flights to the area, wanted the safety and peacefulness of the area whilst remaining close to beaches, villages and attractions of the Cote D'Azur. The local town itself has all the shops you would want for and is wonderfully inviting and safe, allowing us to spend evenings out in the local restaurants and bars whilst the children play in pedestrianised areas.

The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
We renovated Belle Colline under the guidance of a London based interior designer who also has a home in the region and was able to source local craftsmen, furnishings to ensure it is in keeping with the local Provençal style . As a result the home has been extensively remodelled to our exact requirements to ensure the family comes first. The layout has been designed to create 3 separate 'zones' so 3 families can stay together each with their own full bathroom facilities with the kitchen/lounge/dining room and various patios being the central meeting places. We've put a lot of effort into making sure it is as a safe and fun as an environment as possible with minimal number of steps inside the house and with a pool fence completely surrounding the pool area.
