Enjoy 150’ of Door County shore frontage “ON THE WATER”. Secluded… Quiet… Private… 50 feet from water's edge. A perfect getaway and lots of room for your family. Charming, clean, and spacious three-bedroom, cottage romantically hidden in the woods, west of Sturgeon Bay in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin!
Sunsets are some of the most spectacular in Door County. The stars on a clear night are awesome.
Swimming: The Green Bay Waters of Door County are calmer and warmer than on the Lake Michigan side. Haines Park beach is just 300 feet over to the right and is the place to go by locals with its sand bottom and shallow water. Because of its sheltered beach and shallow waters, the Haines beach area, anyone with a family will quickly understand that this location is a real gem for both safety and fun.
Boats: The water is really shallow this year and the water levels can change on a moments notice from there. The dock is really for enjoyment of the sunsets and for access to the water for swimming/kayaking/paddle boats. The dock is not intended to tie a boat up to. I have two buoys with 40# weights on that you can buoy your boat to, if you so choose. It cost $6.00 to use the Carmody boat launch in Little Sturgeon. I set the dock at about 18 inches every year in May. The water gets deeper every 25 feet a couple of inches. It should go up from there a couple of inches until the end of July and then go back down. Call if you have more questions.
World class fishing is just outside the front door. Wade in just 30 feet off shore and you are on some of the best bass beds on the entire bay of Green Bay. Tucked in at the base of Riley’s bay you have access to the open bay if you want, or the shelter of the protected shorelines of one of the best fishing bays of all of Door County. Charter fishing service is available for Lake Michigan Salmon fishing.
The Yard: The yard holds a nice area for playing games, grilling out, bird watching, or grilling smores at the fire pit.
Walk, run, bike ride(see photos of bikes) or Kayak (see photos of kayaks) along majestic Sand Bay, Rileys Bay and Little Sturgeon Bay views. It’s a 3.0 miles around Snake Island and 5.0 around Rileys Point road. This is a great way to enjoy the special beauty of the area. Potowatami state park is nearby, with hiking, tower climbing, biking, winter activities include cross country skiing, snowmobiling, hiking. End your day with a stop at Jellystone Campgound for an ice cream cone with the family.
Bird viewing: Pelicans, swans, bald eagles, hawks, ducks, geese, cranes, woodpeckers, song birds can all be routinely seen during your stay.
Winter: The bay freezes over entirely—perfect for skating, broomball, snowshoeing, or ice fishing for whitefish right out your front door.
Nearby: Located within short drive of Potawatami State Park, Idlewild Public Golf Course, several food marts, restaurants, county boat launches, downtown Sturgeon Bay, and boat, jet skis pontoon boat rentals, and sky diving (airport).

Our party of six just spent 4 wonderful days at your lovely rental and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Your home is very spacious, and immaculate. While I'm sure most people are disappointed that the water level is so low, the temperatures were cold enough (and windy) that we didn't mind not being able to dangle our feet off the dock or take advantage of the kayaks. The location right on the bay was gorgeous, and if it hadn't been so windy we probably would have sat around the firepit in the evening. The kitchen was nicely furnished with everything we needed for the meals we made, and there was plenty of room for all of us to sit around comfortably. We were doubly blessed to find the Sunset Grill - not only was it only a couple miles away but the food was incredible - the pan fried perch was outstanding! We took a drive on Sunday to the northern end of the peninsula, with some stops along the way at an apple orchard and a winery, plus a couple gift shops. Plenty to see on the ride. This is the perfect property for just about anyone, whether couple(s) or a family with children. We would love to come back some day.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

This house was the cleanest we have had in the past 9 summers of renting in Wisconsin. It also had thoughtfully been stocked with what one needs in the kitchen. The view is spectacular. However, it was disappointing to find that there wasn't a boat launch nearby..and that the launch had to be paid for....also....in our paperwork it stated that we could share the dock with the owners boats. Well, the dock is much to shallow to be used by a boat. Therefore, some of us couldn't get to the boat because we had to wade through the water to the anchored boat and then walk up the steps of the boat. We were expecting a dock that could be used. If the bay had recently become lower than usual then we needed to be told that. As a result of needing to take the boat out of the water each night the boat was taken back home. The screen doors need to be replaced. They don't work well and make going in and out of them unusable. There seems to be a bee infestation. We we arrived there were 30 bees in the house. we were able to rid the house of the bees eventually and learned that they come in through the screen door in the dinning room. It may be they have a nest in the air conditioning unit. This is a nice home. It won't work for us in the future because we need a place to dock the boat.Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: Of all people staying this summer this family left the property the neatest. We have owned this property for a year and know every inch of this place and have restored this house in a fashion that we are very proud of. We take great pride in the fact that this house is spotless when people arrive. So their comments on cleanliness were appreciated. Weekly this house has been inspected by both the cleaning person and ourselves. We are not absentee owners and live right next door. If 30 bees were in the house, it is not due to our inattentiveness? Somebody left some door open, some window open, that allowed this to happen. It was not us! We of course, will now check the premise’s exterior for hives. We would have IMMEDIATELY dealt with the issue, no questions asked. But, the first we heard of this was in this VRBO feedback we are responding to. Our phone numbers are made available to the renters. You can ask any question you need to, to make your vacation special. The water is low, and I will restate this on the website, with their thoughts in mind. But, a lot of boats do spend a nice day or the evening just off this property. Docking to a buoy is not uncommon on the bay. I did personally make one available to them. The cost of launching a boat at Carmody boat launch is $6.00

Why the Owner Chose Sturgeon Bay:
Door County is beautiful. But, their are differences in where you would want to be. We chose this spot 20 years ago because of its distinct location. Below are some of the reasons we choose to be here. I hope it helps you in chosing our home in Door County to vacation.
We chose the warm waters of Green Bay over the cold waters of Lake Michigan, Clarks Lake and Kangaroo Lake.
We chose the sandy bottom at this location over just about everyone elses rocks.
We chose a location with lots of shallow water and NO drop offs so our kids would always be safe.
We chose a location in sheltered bay and not in the open bay for safer calmer waters.
- You can always find a calm spot to fish even on windy days.
- You can always leave Rileys Bay to the open water to fish.
We chose a spot when we walk or bike we are on quiet rural roads.
We chose this spot because Haines Beach is just 300 feet to the right.
We chose this spot because the sunsets are breathless.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This is Door County. The water is shallow, warm and safe. The sunsets breathtaking. You take walks or bike on safe quite roads. The fishing is just outside your front door. It is quiet.
Ten minutes to Sturgeon Bay.
