  My husband and I recently stayed at the Mermaid Cottage. I can't tell you how impressed we were with our stay here. The cottage itself is adorable, and amazingly comfortable and cozy. The garden/patio area is private and beautifully landscaped. Not only is the beach just foot steps away, the owners are two of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Judy has thought of EVERYTHING, has put a lot of love into this and does an amazing job of making you feel at home and comfortable during your entire stay. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quaint, comfortable, close to the beach slice of heaven. We can't wait to go back for another visit!

  I recently spent the weekend at the Mermaid Cottage, and was very happy with every aspect of my stay. The property is pretty, well-maintained, and extremely clean, and stocked with everything I needed to have a relaxing stay: Keurig coffee, several kinds of creamer, fresh fruit, and even a freshly baked bundt cake! The bed is large, with great linens and blankets, and the bathroom's stocked with assorted toiletries in case I forgot anything. I enjoyed how close the Mermaid Cottage is to the beach: just a block to Fletcher Cove, which made beach walks very convenient. Judie and Dave are extremely gracious and kind; Judie even went out of her way by finding, and then mailing me a bike rack strap I had dropped in the garden! I will definitely return.

  We had an absolute lovely time staying at the cottage. I must have looked at every possible rental in the San Diego area before I decided to book the cottage. I’m so glad we did! The cottage is a perfect place to stay for a couple. It had everything we needed plus some. The owners/hosts were so attentive and wanted to make our stay has comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This was our first VBRO booking and we’ll definitely do it again! Location: It’s the perfect location to tour San Diego. We were all over San Diego and this cottage was centrally located! It’s also great that it’s so close to the beach! It’s one block off of Pacific Coast Highway so it was easy to get around. Cottage: Located in back of house. The landscaping was beautiful and we loved the patio to enjoy a cup of coffee and a slow morning. The cottage was very private and we had no trouble finding parking right out front. The bed was very comfortable and found the cottage had everything we needed. I even found sunburn cream which came in handy one day. Judi the host/owner stocked the kitchenette full of snacks, water and juice. Because of the awesome location there is some noise but we didn’t find it distracting at all. We also found the cottage to be super clean and well maintained! During our visit Judie knew we would be back late from a trip to Disneyland and she turned on the light, lit the electric candle and left us chocolates. She was so attentive but not intrusive. She had a full library of movies to choose from and reserve in advance. We stayed for 7 days and part way through the trip she cleaned the unit and replaced the towels. She arranged with us in advance so it was not an inconvenience. I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed staying here. We were sad to leave and hope to visit again soon. Oh, our only take away of something we would have enjoyed was an iPod docking station to listen to music. There might have been one we just didn’t find it. Thanks again!

  We LOVED our stay at the Mermaid cottage!! The owners were personable and went out of their way to make sure we had a terrific experience. Little extras were placed in our cottage--very thoughtful! Clean, beautiful, comfortable--we even decided to stay in the cottage/lounge in the garden instead of venturing out to town because it was so peaceful! We highly recommend this VRBO to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation next to the beach! Thank you for such an unforgettable stay!

  We loved our week's stay at the Mermaid Cottage. Ideal location- so close to a great beach and also easy walk to shops and restaurants. The cottage was spotless, tastefully decorated, and filled with charm and comfort. The owners, Judie and Dave could not have been nicer or more attentive to our needs. We will definitely return, and will highly recommend this cottage to others.

  The cottage is adorable, as cute as the pictures are they don't show how charming it is, and Judie has made sure it has everything you could possibly need. I have never been a guest anywhere where my needs were so thoroughly anticipated, and she's so nice! The bed was crazy comfortable, I never wanted to get out of it but the beach beckoned literally a block away, as well as restaurants and shops. This is a great location in a gorgeous neighborhood, and I could not have been happier! I will definitely stay here again if I am lucky enough to return.

  We had a wonderful visit with our family using the Mermaid Cottage as our home base. Despite the unseasonably cool and wet weather, we felt warm and well cared for by the unobtrusive hosts, Judie and Dave. They have created a wonderful shaded hideaway tucked behind their home in a well established, quiet neighborhood that is still just a short walk from great shopping, restaurants and two cliff-to-beach access points. Every amenity was thoughtfully provided and the binder they have for local activities is the best I have ever seen at any of the many VRBO properties we have visited. Clearly these on-site hosts have prepared for any imaginable need. The big bed was comfortable with nice linens; the bath was well appointed with clever elements on the mermaid theme; the kitchen was stocked with all necessary items as well as special treats and fresh fruit. I wish we had had more time to enjoy the soaking tub, the huge DVD library and the outdoor living area. We appreciated the abundant street parking and loved that the owner's giant but gentle dog, Scooby Doo, gave us a few barks from inside their home to welcome us back after our outings and to let us know if we had visitors. All in all, we had a fantastic few days and would highly recommend this property and locale for a destination getaway. Our favorite spots while there? the boisterous Pizza Port (get the shirt!), Claire's for breakfast (Lemon Ricotta pancakes), and the winery for tastings downtown (E side of Cedros Ave.)

  The cottage was comfortable and stylish, the owner spoiled us with treats. It was a treat to wake up to a lovely mermaid glissing in the sun and greenery around. The cottage is a short walk to the beach. Shops and restaurants are close at hand. A real community feel. The train station is only a block away so you may need earplugs if you are a light sleeper as some of the trains seem louder than others. But there are so many other pluses to this vacation rental, so don't miss out. The owner is soooo helpful too!
