You are invited to discover your own exceptional private oasis right in the center of Manhattan. After an exciting and fun filled day of sightseeing, shopping, museums and theater you can escape from the fast pace and find peace and quiet...just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

You'll start to relax when you enter your private walled garden. Have a glass of wine or cup of coffee. Watch the squirrels scamper and hear the birds singing in the trees as you put your feet up and wind down.

This tranquil sanctuary is on a beautiful tree lined residential block at East 30th Street and Park Avenue with easy access to just about all you want to see and do. Take an easy walk to the Empire State Building (5 1/2 blocks), Macy's (7 1/2 blocks), Broadway theaters (about 15 blocks), Gramercy Park, the Farmer's Market at Union Square, The Village and the United Nations.

Soho is a quick ride south on the #6 subway which is just 2 1/2 blocks away. Or you can head north on the #6 to Museum Mile and the Metropolitan Museum. When you don't feel like walking, ride to Bloomingdale's with a stop right under the store. Park Avenue busses are 1/2 block away and run north and south. Lexington Avenue busses are 1/2 block away and run south. Of course this being New York, you can always hop into a taxi or call car service.

Wander inside your apartment to enjoy the romance and charm of exposed brick walls, wide plank floors, a fireplace and original oil paintings. The spacious living room offers you 2 matching sofas in classic muted colors. One opens into a comfortable queen size bed that sleeps two. A cushioned single Bahama bed is convenient for another guest.

A quaint 150 year old opaque glass wall separates the living room and bedroom. Pamper yourself with an excellent night's sleep and wake up refreshed in the queen size bed with quality linens,a fluffy feather duvet and lots of extra pillows. There's plenty of room for all of your clothes and shopping sprees in a wall of custom fitted closets. The en suite tiled bathroom has a small tub with shower and a built-in vanity for the sink and wrap-around mirrors.

Have a bite to eat or a satisfying drink when ever you feel like it in your separate and full eat-in kitchen with large double door refrigerator/freezer with automatic ice maker, full stove with oven and full size dishwasher. The kitchen is nicely equipped with microwave, coffee pot, pots and pans, dishes, glassware and flatware.

The dining area with cushioned window seat overlooks the peaceful garden. If you don't feel like cooking, just order in from the many nearby restaurants or have the grocery stores deliver.

An adjacent 2-room 1/2 bath duplex suite is available for large families. The small downstairs room is furnished as an office/library and has an oversized double sofa bed. Private interior stairs lead to a large upstairs bedroom with 2 twin size beds. A 1/2 bath is off of this room.

This is a no smoking apartment for your comfort. Smoking in the garden is always okay.

There are 5 rather shallow steps into the building, making it unsuitable for children under 10 and guests who might have a problem with stairs.

The apartment is one of three units in a private 4 story townhouse. It is on the garden floor in the back and is exceptionally quiet, clean, safe and secure. You'll find many extra modern details such as high hat lights in all of the rooms, a security buzzer to open the front doors and quality windows and doors.

It is said that the famous dancer Isadora Duncan once lived here. We haven't been able to confirm this but like to believe that it is true. We hope that you will spend some time here, too.

  • had a truely excellent week 1st week in December 2008 staying in this apartment,accommodation was great & its situation for seeing the sights, couldn't be beaten. Marea made us feel extremely welcome, her "inside" knowledge of the immediate area amd more, was so beneficial. We have recommded this accommodation to friends who are staying there in January 2009, and we ourselves very much hope to revisit in the near future. You will not be disapponited should you reserve the apartment or annex, at 118 30th East Street for your vacation in New York City.

  • Just back from a very memorable stay at Mareas townhouse in manhattan, the apartment and the suite suited our family so well, my son and two daughters all stayed in the duplex whilst myself and my husband stayed in the apartment, we all got together in the mornings in the lovely large living room to plan our day ahead and at the end of the day after all our sightseeing spent in end of the evening in front of the fire watching the tv, it suited us fine. Location was ideal subway within a mintues walk and 5th Ave just a moment away, had breakfast at penelopes on the corner, it was lovely, bluesmoke for bbq also very good all recommended by Marea. Thankyou so much for letting us stay in your lovely apartment and when we come back to New York we are sure to stay again. Only downside was only one shower but we managed and it didnt hold us up too much even with two grown up daughters, thanks again The Hynes family from England

  • My wife and 3 kids stayed here last week and had a great time. We stayed in the apartment, my dad and wife's brother and girlfriend stayed in the 2 room duplex. There was plenty of room for everyone and the living accomadations were fantastic. The outdoor patio was landscaped nicely and great to have. I grew up in NY and this was the first time for my family to visit the "Big Apple" and we all had a trip of a lifetime. The place is located in a very nice and safe part of Manhattan that is tree lined and quiet. There were restuarants, stores, and transportation all nearby. Marea was a wonderful and delightful host. She has provided a lot of useful information for her guests who have never been to Manhattan and for those who have. Based on the fun we had we plan on coming back next year and will most definetly be back at this great place. Once again I'd like to thank Marea for making our NY stay very fun and memorable.   • We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday with her mother and her sister's family -- 9 people for a week in the Big Apple. If you've got a large group, there is no better deal in NYC than Marea's apartment, so book it early. You truly "live like a New Yorker," with the subway, funky shops and restaurants, and a zombie hobo all right around the corner. WE LOVED IT! Our girls, 10 and 12, were particularly impressed. It's great to have your own apartment to crash at rather than a stuffy and expensive hotel. And Marea is a great hostess -- helpful but unobtrusive. We'll be back!

  • Dear Marea Back in Sydney safe and sound. Katya,the youngest, is actually back at school. Tania and I are still a bit jet-lagged after all our flying but it's getting less each day. A big thankyou once again. Our stay in NY was fantastic, made even more so by staying with you. Your apartment is excellent and so well located. As recommended, Tania and I had a cocktail in the Rainbow Room on our last evening. Clear skies and a fantastic sunset. All the restaurants we tried from your list were great. As a couple of additions in terms of those which are close, the Banc on the corner of East 30th and 3rd is very good. Excellent bar for a drink as well, although Friday is very crowded. Just along from this, between 29th and 28th is a little bar called Makers, no food and a very basic bar but we found the barmen there excellent. I'm a bit more inclined to the simple small bars whereas others may not. A bit further a field, Tavern on Jane, West Village (just off 14th) is excellent for a weekend brunch/lunch.   • Thank you very much for making us feel so welcome in your town house. Your place was central and so homely and cosy. We were a group of friends and it suited us. You made us feel so welcome with the wine and chocolate and your time spent with us recommending restaurants etc, your book of references and all your travel books and brochures you have accumulated were a great help during our stay.Your recommendation of teh limo service to and from the airport was great and worked out really well and all in all added to our trip to New York!
