Whether it's just for a weekend or a week, we know you won't get bored or lack for things to do or see. 'The Big Blue House', is perfect and is combined with, Island paradise, and its only a hour or so ride from the mainland. We fell in love with Catalina, because of it's lay back life style and go back often and we're sure you will too..

We just had a big, week long family reunion here and it was perfect. The listing description and photos do not do this house justice. For a big group, there are many areas to gather. We were able to fit 13 people around the table (tight, but definitely doable) and, as meals were going to be a big focus, this was great. The living room includes three couches, two of which have lazy boy type adjustments on both ends. The sunroom at the very front has a big sliding window, allowing you to feel like you are in an open air porch. The kitchen is large, has a large table and almost every piece of equipment you could possibly need, including utensils, plates and wine glasses galore. This is one of those houses were the owner/manager, leaves the condiments and other things from the last guest - a real plus. The house was very clean when we got there and is very well maintained. The only thing not working was the blender. There are four bedrooms upstairs which easily sleep ten. It should be noted that you have to walk through the room with the double/single to get to the room with two singles. While there is only one full bath upstairs, two rooms have sinks which makes this much easier to use. The bedding is clean and adequate. More and better towels would be appreciated, though. There are nice TV's in the downstairs living room and three bedrooms, which allows people to do different things (we are not ALL football fans). The property was easy to book and Mr. Hunt very helpful. We asked for a late check out, which was given without a second thought and much appreciated. A couple of drawbacks which should be noted and cannot be changed. There is no outside space at all, as the house takes up the whole lot. There is a significant amount of noise from golf carts in the front of the house, as there is a 4 way intersection there. Other big plusses is how close you are to Little Vons (1 block) and Big Vons (4 blocks), the beach and everything else. We saved a fortune on food by eating at home pretty much every day. I would highly recommend this property and will book it again next time we have a family reunion. Thank you so much to the owners and to Mr. Hunt. We live on our boat in the harbor and have done this before, but this was by far our best experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

June 1 to Sept 8 2013 and all holidays $400 per night and $2,800 per week + 12% and $125 for cleaning. Off season rates $350 a night and $365 weekends Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

About the owner: My wife Debbi are property managers and we both own & manage 4 other San Diego vacation beach rentals along with other rental properties both commercial and residential. We both love to travel trying different place's around the world. We take great pride in all our properties and love to get reviews and feedback from all our guest to enable us to improve.
Why the Owner Chose Avalon:
Location, location, location..Built in1929 and still retains much of it's old charm and is just a great house to bring family and freinds. Traditionally we spend Thanksgiving with family and now grandchildren. We both love going to Catalina to relax and enjoy all the things the Island has to offer and because of it's great location, we can walk everywhere.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
'Location!', It's only a block from the town and walking distance to any and all you want to see and do. The house was built in 1929 and is cozy with new and old features that gives it the feel of Old Catalina. One really unique feature that everyone loves is the big sliding window in the sun room. It's a great place to relax as the sun sets and have your favorite drink of choice.
