  We rented the Big Blue to take our daughter and some of her friends for her birthday weekend. The house was all we expected and more. There was plenty of room for everyone, and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook all of our meals onsite. We brought plenty of food, but there is a small food mart not far away for staples you may have forgotten. Our kids asked us to made an ice cream run there after the beach. There were games for the kids and a DVD player for them to watch movies. We took a pop-up shade cover for the beach and stayed all day, using the golf cart to make any needed trips back to the house. The kids had a blast! The neighbor next door was friendly, but we rarely saw him. While we did not take any pets, people should know that the fenced in area is great, but would only hold in larger dogs. Had we brought them, our two dogs (12 & 18 lbs.) could have easily gotten through the fence as the slats are a bit far apart. The owner was very responsive to questions and requests, and was a pleasure to work with. We look forward to returning to Big Blue again.

  Thank you so much to the owners! The house was beautiful and the location made for a fantastic getaway. My husband and I and one other couple stayed here for five nights and it was everything we wanted. There was plenty of room for everyone, the house was stocked with everything you could possibly need (maybe with one exception- it would have been great to have a large dedicated beach blanket, we respected the owners' wishes and did not take any of the bedding to the beach but it was a little windy and making a blanket out of towels didn't work so well and we did not have enough room in our car to pack our own), it was clean and comfortable and having the golf cart available to us was great- other owners should take a page from your book on that one. It was about a 15 minute drive into downtown which was fine with us- close enough to be able to get out and do something every day but far enough away to not have to deal with any crowds or craziness. The kitchen was well-stocked, we went grocery shopping and cooked breakfast every day as well as one big surf and turf dinner (check out Alex's Seafood Market just down the road for some really good fresh shrimp) and weren't lacking anything we needed to make a big meal. The on-site washer and dryer were great too- I hate coming home with a bunch of dirty laundry and because they were there we actually could have packed a lot lighter. The neighborhood was clean and very quiet and the houses are far enough apart that you'll hardly see your neighbors. The one guy who lives next door (across the driveway) seemed very friendly and kept to himself. The beach was very close and pretty clean and the majority of the time we were the only ones there- once or twice there was a small group or another couple but mostly we had it all to ourselves. We all enjoyed our stay here very much and hope to do it again and bring the kids next time and get a little use out of the very cool pirate-area downstairs. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

  My (very large) family and our dogs vacationed to the Big Blue in early September. We were thrilled by the location with easy access to a quiet beach. The golf cart was a major perk, making it easy to take coolers, umbrellas and towels to and from the beach. The inside of the house was clean and comfortable with roomy bathrooms and a fully stocked kitchen (that even had basic food items available!) We loved the two roomy patios, both with plenty of seating and one with a mosquito net. We did notice a musty smell in the downstairs bedroom. It was promptly addressed by the owners, who contacted the care-taker to come air out the room. We plan to return to the Big Blue in the future, for our peaceful ocean getaway.

  Big Blue was all it was described as being and then some. It is very spacious, comfortable, modern and well stocked with everything to make our vacation awesome. The guys loved taking the golf cart to and from the beach and us gals could get up early and leave them sleeping, while we did whatever we wanted to do. I was unsure about the kitchen layout since it is not really shown in any of the pics on VRBO. I was delighted with everything it had to offer. I would live there if only I could! Thanks Hazel, I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

  Three families went in together to rent this cabin. There was more than enough room to set up extra air beds in the den and even in the bedrooms. The two decks upstairs were nice as well. The golf cart was an extra bonus as we priced them and one cart for four days was 140$. We played volleyball,board games and the kids all played music and had a dance party downstairs. It was hard to figure out how to turn on lights outside on the decks (maybe bulbs are out) and I wish they had a big comfy couch rather than 2 futons to sit on, but all in all it was VERY kid friendly, nice, clean and I would rent it again. We felt more like a guest rather than a renter as they had items they share such as spices, detergent, toilet paper, games, towels etc. Thank you again for sharing your home with us!

  We really enjoyed our stay at Big Blue. It was a great escape for us and the kids. The adults stayed upstairs and the teenagers down. We enjoyed the warm, open, lighted feeling with modern amenities and comfortable pillow-top beds, while the teens enjoyed their own space with WiFi access, video games, a small fridge and comfortable furnishings. The intercom was handy for upstairs/downstairs communications and wake up/dinner calls. The golf cart was popular with everyone. My well-behaved dog enjoyed the run of the yard and patios when we were outside grilling or relaxing on one of the two decks. Everything about the place makes you feel at home (except better, because you're not at home). You're close enough to what you need and far enough away from what you need a break from. The owner was very responsive to what few questions we had during our stay. The welcome material explained most everything we needed. We will definitely return -- especially since our teens gave it two thumbs up.

  We had a wonderful time staying at "The Big Blue"! It was exactly the way it looked in the pictures. Clean, spacious, great location (walking distance to beach & fishing pier, short drive to local grocery store/gas station, short drive to Galveston's main strip but just far enough away,lol!) We had 3 families total (3 adults & 6 kids plus one dog) and everyone was comfortable, had a place to sleep, and the best time ever! The golf cart was an added bonus to get to the beach. We had a few questions and the owner's were super fast to respond to us. The house had absolutely everything we could have possibly needed. As all of our husband's were currently deployed to combat zones, this was a much needed break for us all and it didn't let us down. We came home relaxed and refreshed and our husband's couldn't have been happier for us! Thank you for allowing us to stay and we are all planning to definitely stay at Big Blue again with each of our own families individually and possibly all together again!

  What a great place! So comfortable, really is home like! Everything provided except the steaks for the grill! ;) It only took us about a minute to drive to the beach on the golf cart, that was great fun! And the beaches in that general area are VERY clean! Kudos to those that live in that area because actually everything is pretty clean, including the neighborhood. We felt very safe. It was a little bit too cool but can't wait to go back when it's warmer and try out the hammock!! Also, can't wait to take the kids and let them experience the 'Pirates Getaway'. Heck, let's face it, I'd like to stay down in the first floor area myself!! This place is perfect for a family reunion as it would easily accommadate multiple families, yet still so spacious. The decor is very fresh but not overwhelming, just relaxing, as you would want at a vacation home. I highly recommend it as a weekend getaway or week long vacation, either way, you won't want to leave!

  Truly a home away from home, only thing is, I wish it were my home. Everything was in top notch working order. New fixtures, linens, decor! The house is so close to the beach, only about 3-4 minutes drive on the golf cart that comes with house. We didn't bring our kids this time, (adults get away only!) but can't wait to book again with them. The first floor area is a kid's/teenagers dream come true.
