This wonderful cabin, La Casa Primera, is located in a secluded neighborhood on top of the mountain. It is only one street away from the National Forest and has breath-taking views of Sierra Blanca. The home is one story, street level with no stairs required to enter the house. Enjoy the large wrap-around deck with stairs to the mountain-side back yard. There is a master bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with a twin bed which also includes a trundle bed. The living room has a couch which is also a sleeper sofa. This cabin will sleep 6. Watch TV on the LCD flatscreen which has Dish TV and a DVD player. There is one bathroom and a fully furnished kitchen.
The cabin is 5.3 miles from Ski Apache, where you can ski and/or snow board, 6.5 miles from Ruidoso Downs Race Track, and 6.1 miles from the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino.
As stated, the cabin is located at the top of a mountain. In the winter, a four wheel drive vehicle is necessary.

We really enjoyed our stay! The view was beautiful and it was very quiet and comfortable. We had two children with us who enjoyed the property as well. Much nicer than staying in a hotel. You definitely need 4-wheel drive or snow chains if you are there when it is going to snow because the house is up quite a ways. The property is centrally located enough to easily access local restaurants and shopping. We really appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and the washer and dryer as well as the fireplace which kept the house warm on cold evenings. Everything was very clean and ready when we arrived. There is a grocery store right at the bottom of the neighborhood which was convenient.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I was very happy with the cabin overall. Very clean, plenty of extra blankets for the cold. Washer and dryer were a great thing to have. Was just disappointed that there was no WiFi in the cabin. Overall excellent place to stay for a couple of days.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children.

I had a great stay at this cabin. Everything was as advertised. Very neat, very well located, well furnished, great view. The landlady was also very easy to deal with. I am sure I will stay here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers.

Great weekend with 4 adults. The fold out bed was comfortable for two people, the main bed was said to be very comfortable. The weekend rained on and off and the temp at the cabin was around 70 degrees so the A/C in the cabin wasn't necessary. Very quiet location no traffic to speak of. Only negative is the lack of gas BBQ grill, with the burn ban in place we couldn't use the charcoal grill. Great weekend we definitely recommend.Owner response: I am glad you had a good time. Sorry about the burn ban. I will look into getting a gas grill in addition to the charcoal grill. Hope you will stay again. Lisa

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful cabin in the mountains. The area is very serene and beautiful. The quarters were just as promised. We especially enjoyed the view and the large wrap around deck. Also, snow in the area is great. Skiing was the best ever. We hope to return again soon!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

About the owner: My husband and I live in the Houston area. We are avid pilots and live at an airport. We love to fly, ski, and travel. We have a dog and a cat that both travel with us. We own a business called Federal Wage and Labor Law Institute which makes and sells labor law posters.

Mark's family vacationed in Ruidoso from San Antonio throughout his childhood. He loved the quaintness of the town and the skiing. Not to metion some of the best horse racing is here and a beautiful new casino and resort. Ruidoso has something for everyone.
