Whitefish Mountain townhome description
We can't always be at our mountain hideaway so we invite you to consider staying there. In the winter we love the true ski/board in and out access on 'Home Again' trail that is only 70 steps away from our front door. After a day of activity on the mountain, we arrive home to quickly change and get into the large outdoor hot tub (ski season only) that is only a few steps away from our unit. After our time in the hot tub, we love returning home and starting dinner and a wood fire in the fireplace (yes, wood is provided). The kitchen, dining area, and living room are all adjacent to each other so no one feels left out whether they are preparing a meal, playing games on the dining room table, or relaxing in the living room. All 3 rooms have a view of the fireplace and 44 inch (112 cm) flat screen TV. With cable service or DVDs on the TV and a radio/CD player there are lots of choices for entertainment. Three of the bedrooms have TVs as well. Our nicely equipped townhome has everything you need, but you don’t have to worry about staying in a place described as “luxurious”. If you accidently broke a lamp or a vase it isn’t going to cost you several hundreds of dollars to replace.
Our townhome is located in the Big Mountain View Condominium at 3808 Alpine Village Drive, which has a total of six townhouse units. Our unit offers 1,800 square feet (168 square meters) for you and your group to enjoy. There is plenty of parking, so if you come with one, two, three or four vehicles there is no problem. Big Mountain View is in a quiet residential area with a mix of private homes, duplexes, and four condo projects (all have no more than 8 units each). Our unit is located only a 2 minute walk from the European style Kandahar Lodge, offering the exciting gourmet restaurant Café Kandahar, the “Snug Bar”, and the Remedies Day Spa. Café Kandahar and its 350 bottle wine cellar is rated by Frommer’s Travel Guides as one of the top two “best restaurants” in Montana. The Kandahar Lodge also offers the cozy “Snug Bar” a great spot for an après ski drink or a pre or post dinner stop. You can ski to the Kandahar Lodge for an “Après Ski” drink and walk home from there. You can also enjoy a massage at the Remedies Day Spa inside Kandahar Lodge. There are other great restaurants nearby including Hellroaring Saloon and Eatery, which is located slopeside near the bottom of chair 2, or a 10 minute walk away. “ Hellroaring” is a great choice for a lunch or dinner and is reminiscent of the “Mangy Moose” at Jackson Hole, but with much better food and service. The City of Whitefish located down in the valley below the mountain is only a 12 minute drive away and offers scores of restaurants, bars, ski shops and every type of shopping experience you would expect in a Montana resort town.
There are several ski rental shops and restaurants located in both the upper and lower villages of Whitefish Mountain Resort . Our townhome is located between the two base villages. Night skiing is provided on four trails on Friday and Saturday nights (every night during the Christmas New Year Holiday) utilizing 3 lifts.
Our unit has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Two bedrooms each have one queen bed, the third has a king size bed, and the fourth has a double, a twin, and a twin size trundle that pulls out from under a bed. Everyone gets to sleep in a real bedroom, on a real mattress, as there are no foldout couches. All four bedrooms have a large closet, a bureau, and its own bathroom with a full size tub/shower. Each bedroom and bathroom has its own thermostat.
Our Kitchen is equipped with everything needed to make a great homemade meal from scratch or to make a simpler meal. Crock pot, coffee makers (2), coffee grinder, blender, toaster, griddle, mixer, electric BBQ (on the deck) and more pots, pans, bowls and utensils than you might want to use. The large refrigerator/freezer has an ice maker, and of course, a full size dishwasher, a glass top range with full size oven, and a microwave are there too. We supply dish and dishwasher soap and paper towel so you don’t have to drag that stuff along. We have a full size Amana washer and dryer ready for your use and we provide the detergent.
A large deck with built in perimeter seating and a large picnic table are ready for your use. Our entry has room for your equipment and boots and is heated to help your equipment dry.
In the winter there are many ways to enjoy your time here besides skiing and boarding on the mountain. There are groomed cross country ski trails offered at Whitefish Country Club only 8 miles away, plus two other sites that offer groomed X-C trails only another 10 minutes further. Snow mobile rental is available in Whitefish and other nearby towns. Snowshoeing or x-c skiing is fun on many trails nearby, and the sport shops can provide rentals and information on places to go. Trails for X-C skiing and snowshoeing are also available in the beautiful winter wonderland found in Glacier National Park. On weekends there are ranger guided snowshoe tours with snowshoes provided.
During the summer and fall one can enjoy hiking and mountain biking on trails located around the mountain and you can start from the front door. During the summer Whitefish Mountain Resort offers chairlift rides for you and your bike to the summit as well as an exciting zip line tour with 6 different lines, and a lift serviced alpine slide. Glacier National Park is located 35 miles away and offers some of the most beautiful and breathtaking scenery, hikes and drives in the USA in both summer and fall. Guided whitewater rafting trips are offered along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. Golf is available on the beautiful 36 hole Whitefish Country Club which is open to the public and 8 other public couses in the Flathead Valley.
We look forward to you enjoying our mountaina home as much as we do. Come see why Whitefish is called the Holiday Village!
