The Broadhead Mountain Retreat is located just a short drive from the city-limts of Charlottesville, taking you out of town, while still overlooking it. Broadhead, completed in 2011, offers modern living with rustic charm and quality. There are two private bedrooms to choose from –a master bedroom offering a high-end Savy Sleeper queen sized mattress and private bath and on the opposite side of the home a bedroom with two twin beds. If you feel like sleeping by a stone wood-burning fireplace claim the queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. The open living room, with wide plank floors and wall of windows gives you a breathtaking view of the Piedmont Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains. The view alone is reason enough to stay here. The kitchen is both practical and aesthetically pleasing, fit for a chef, with stained wood countertops, stainless-steel refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and plenty of cabinet space. Whether you feel like eating at the kitchen table inside, or sitting outside, you’ll be taking in the essence of Mother Nature.
This is the ideal setting if you feel like getting away from the hustle and bustle but still want to be close; Broadhead sits on top of a private mountain on over 100 acres of private land. If you want to spend some quality time in the country, breathe in clean mountain air or just go for a hike, then this might just be the perfect place.

Great, comfortable, well-equipped fun. Suggest that more specific instructions are left about operation of fireplace and grill. Decks and front entrance covered with stink bugs. Think we managed to keep them out, however, recommend some spray of those areas before guests arrive. Also we did not locate the "tank"/"oil tank" that was given as a landmark to note when going up the unpaved road. Perhaps some sort of something like a series of 5 roadside reflectors could be placed along that drive at a point 200 feet from house to help those locating this in the dark. The guest advisors and evening duty person were most helpful in booking this and getting us there when we were uncertain if we were lost in the dark.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

Beautifully constructed, warm and appealing with a great kitchen, fireplace, dining and living area. The house is completely stocked with useful things (zip lock bags, salt/pepper, spices etc) and nice cookware, stemware and serving utencils. We have a fabulous 2 night stay and were extremely comfortable. Cooked in both nights as an abundance of great food stores are available in C'ville. The countryside is stunning. We however were on motorcycles and the road to the house on top of the mountain is treacherous enough for a car, but motorcycles were a bit dangerous. Very steep and rocky road to the top. Anyway we totally enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home to everyone other than bikers.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you so much for the review!! It might be a perfect property for sight seeing as well as overlooking but we agree with motorcycles- its a long drive to the top and while under normal weather conditions any car could up there- we only think confident motorcyclist should attempt. Again, many thanks for staying!!
