We love the cabin. It does NOT overwhelm with gimicks. It DOES provide games and books and comfort. It DOES provide the means for a true vacation in the mountains. It's absolutely fabulous for our family of 4. Location is key also, with proximity to everything good in Calaveras. Favorites: foosball, couch, gas stove, books and games, interesting bed quilts, great mugs

We enjoyed our time at this great cabin! The huge windows in the living area give a wonderful view of the trees and deck. The warm gas fireplace is very cozy. The kitchen is well-stocked and the Wi-Fi worked better than at home! We were able to play around the cabin, down the street, and also walk in the snow on a trail going toward Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Sledding and X-country skiing at nearby Bear Valley is lots of fun. For two of our 6'4" men, the beds were a little small, but otherwise it is a great location and cabin near Arnold. Owners were very nice to work with.
Owner response:Snow at last- Glad you got to enjoy it. One of the major advantages of our cabin's location in Big Trees Village is that, at 5000 feet elevation, it is 1000 feet higher than Arnold area cabins. We often get snow when they have rain and our's usually sticks around while down there it turns to mush or concrete.

Easy access to all in the local area. But we spent lots of time in the cabin itself. This cabin is comfy and full of the relevant amenities. Grill, WiFi, games for kids, books to read, movies. And the rec center is great. Pools, ping pong, ice cream, trees. It's a Big Trees family vacation, through and through, nothing more, nothing less! It's not a super luxury yacht, but for families with kids from 0 to 10 years old it's perfect. And very spacious. We're gonna try to go again. No reason to change to some other, unless I want a house on a lake.
Owner response:Thanks for the wonderful review. Its nice to see others enjoying our mountain getaway as much as we do.

Plethora of games, and great collection of books, made this cabin easily 7 days' worth of staying for a family. We stayed only 4 nights. Wish we could have stayed more.

This review is actually for the cabin owners and not for the cabin itself. When we drove to the cabin in February, there was a huge blizzard (4 feet of new snow in one day!!). We tried to get to the cabin for two days..... but due to the blizzard, we could not get to the cabin as road conditions were impassable. I was afraid that the owners would not be willing to give me a refund. I thought that they maight say that the snow conditions were not their faust, and we were not due a refund. When I emailed the owners about our situation, they were more than happy to refund us in full. They were very gracious and empathetic to our situation. I will definitely try again next year to reserve this cabin, as it is such a pleasure to work with such understanding owners.

We had such a fun getaway this week! The cabin was clean, cozy and the prefect size for our family. We enjoyed walking right outside and playing in the snow. Thanks for the great memories! We hope to come back in the summer.

I will absolutely go there again. Clean, quiet and everything was in great condition. Peaceful Cul-du-sac with almost no traffic. Great hiking in the area and good access to the Stanislaus River and Big Trees Park. Lots of things for the kids to do nearby. Plus the house has foosball and a second TV for the kids in the loft. Liked it much better than previous stays in Blue Lake Springs. The pools and recreation center were definitely superior. Access to recreation was easier and it was more peaceful. The flat driveway and covered stairwell will be a big plus iin the snow.
Owner response:Thanks for the review. Glad you had such a good time.

A wonderful place to stay in a beautiful, quiet and peaceful setting. The kids had a wonderful time in the large forested yard and being close to Calverous Big Trees State Park and the Stanislaus River were a big bonus. We spend most afternoons hanging around the Recreation Center with its two pools in a gorgeous location among the pines, great amenities and play-structures. In addition, the house was spacious, clean and well kept. We definitely will be back.

We had a great stay and only wish it could have been for a few more nights! The cabin was well stocked, comfortable and quiet. We were appreciative of the easy drive from the bay area.

We stayed at the cabin during Xmas. It was lovely, we had some snow. The cabin is centrally located so we could go skiing and visit nearby Murphys, but hidden enough to disconnect from the world (no cellphone reception, however if you go about a mile down from the cabin you can get it). The cabin is very well kept up with lots of details and supplies that makes you feel right at home. Do be careful with the outside stairs as they get slippery in the winter. Thanks Ron!

This home provided us with the perfect mountain getaway! The house is perfectly suited for 2 families, & we loved just hanging out on the deck in the evening. Next time we would stay for longer than 3 nights b/c there's so much to do in the area. The pool is idyllic, & we had a great time swimming in the nearby lake & hiking through Big Trees State Park. We'll definitely be back!

We took our family on our first ski/snowboard vacation in 7 years, and enjoyed the cabin very much. Nice and clean, plenty of room, some competitive fooseball to keep everyone occupied! Very quiet location, easy to get in and out and very convenient to Bear Valley and local restaurants, etc. We can't wait to come back!

We had a great time staying at the cabin. There was plenty to do in the area, including hiking, fishing, biking and rock climbing. The cabin is well maintained and in a great area. I see why one would want to stay there all the time.

We enjoyed staying at the cabin very much. The owners are very helpful and accomodating. The cabin is spacious and clean, surrounded by redwoods. The kids loved the pools at the recreation center, Lake Alpine, the Stanislaus river, and the state park.

We had a really nice time & enjoyed the cabin. It's spacious and clean, with comfortable furniture and plenty of books and games. The location is convenient: we went hiking in the Calaveras Big Trees Park, snowmobiled in Big Bear, and visited the Mercer Caverns and historic Murphy. All were within about a 30-min drive (and the park is only about a mile away). The house itself has a main room with high ceilings, lots of windows overlooking the trees, and a fireplace. I would recommend the cabin -- much nicer than your average rental.

Welcome to our Cabin. We hope you have enjoyed your stay and that you found everything in order. Please let us know if anything needs to be repaired or if you have ideas on how to make the mountain experience more pleasant. Since we rely on a number of outside services to clean the cabin, plow the snow and do some of the upkeep, we appreciate knowing from you whether they are doing their job well. Come back in the summer and enjoy relaxing in lakes, rivers, redwoods and the high sierras.
