Penthouse Views of Chesapeake Bay from Private Beach House
- Minimum stay:2-7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Savor dramatic penthouse views in your own private beach house. This light-filled four-story house offers the best in outdoor luxury living. Surrounded by glass and balconies on every level, Kentigern provides bedrooms with private balconies and great gathering spaces, all in one home. Enjoy the fun of your group and then retreat to your own space. Fall asleep to the sound of waves in the background. Wake up to fabulous sunrises over the Chesapeake Bay. This is a house you won’t want to leave.
Kentigern is sited on its own 2 acre sandy lot with a beach at the south end. For the adventurer, 2 kayaks on premise are provided for guest use. Kayak directly on the Chesapeake Bay or in the quiet solitude of one of the creeks where you and the herons may be the only guests. This house is an away destination: Herons are joined by osprey, bald eagles, pelicans and the occasional dolphin or two.
Scotland is steeped in history, too. St. Mary’s City, 10 miles away, is the original capital of Maryland. The area dates back to the 1600s and was one of the early colonies. Only 80 miles away is the nation’s capital, Washington, DC – if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful beach setting. Point Lookout Park, a Civil War POW camp and now a large park and campground, is only a short bike ride away. Nestled between the Bay and the Potomac River, the Park is worth an expedition.
Return to Kentigern again and again.

What a spectacular home and property. We rented this property for our daughters graduation from St Marys College of Maryland. It also happened to be Mothers day weekend. What a blessing this property is. You may feel like you are in the middle pf nowhere but this home has everything you will ever need. Top of the line appliances furnishings two fully stocked pantries with any dish glass or even esspresso maker you might need. Outside: bikes kayaks horseshoes every deck has tons of seating. You will not ever want to leave. We cant wait to go back. So much room to spread out. I encourage all SMCM parents and Alumni to stay here dont waste your money on hotels. Lots of great little restaurants and the Ridge Market have any supplies you need. No need to go all the way to lex park or california md.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

What a wonderful, wonderful home. The photos DO NOT do this rental justice. The location is breathtaking. The views are awesome. No matter where you are in the house, there are views galore. I lived on the living room balcony and just watched the Chesapeake Bay - the water (which seems to have a life of its own), the ships/boats, the birds, the ducks, and the other wildlife. My favorite place was the top floor. WOW!!! Gorgeous bedroom and magnificent view. Stunning bathroom that is as large as the bedroom. Fantastic view while showering was an added plus. I giggled at my good fortune, I have to admit. Everything's so modern, chic, and beautifully decorated with intent on luxury and function. Let's not even speak of the elevator. Who knew? I know it sounds cliche, but we didn't want to leave. And, on our last day there, it was sunny and beautiful and warm. Come one, come all to this amazing gem of a hideaway. We're certainly coming back!!!!!!!!!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We couldn't be more pleased with our experience. Phenomenal location! This house is gorgeous, luxurious, stylish, and peaceful. Not sure how we managed to get so lucky! Many thanks to the home owner. It was a truly special experience for a us group of girls. We can't wait to return during the summer months to enjoy the kayaks, private beach, bicycles, and outdoor spaces. Make sure to check out Buzzy's while you're in town!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, people with disabilities, girls getaway.

What a beautiful house! Very comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need. Four big bedrooms - all with en-suite baths. The master bedroom is the entire 4th floor. Great to have an elevator since we had all over-packed. Many things to do and see in the area. The only missing item is a hot tub (which would have been nice on those cold nights).Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Stupendous, really. Location was beautiful, the house itself was so well-stocked and comfortable, and the modern steel fireplace was the cherry on top. My family and I will be back, for sure. Thanks for sharing your lovely home!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

This is the 3rd year we have stayed at Scotland Beach in one of Peggy's spectacular rentals. This year we had 8 lovely ladies that spent a long weekend relaxing, sharing laughs, combing the beach for beach glass and feeling like a Queen in the wonderful accommodations provided by Peggy. Since last year bikes and kayaks have been added to the long list of thoughtful items that make renting from Peggy such a special occasion. They were definitely taken advantage of by our group. We also utilized the wonderful fireplace in the living room, snuggled up on the extremely comfortable furniture, sipping wine and eating the dishes we created in the wonderfully stocked and amazing kitchen. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this rental. The house itself is amazing, layout wonderful. Furnishings and decorations outstanding (I could get into the master bed and never leave...it is that comfy!) We have already inquired about renting next spring for our 4th year in a row for a Girl’s Getaway!!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

I went for a weekend with my girlfriends for my bachelorette party. It is remote, relaxing, accommodating...views were wonderful. It might as well be the ocean. Kitchen is big and has all appliances, upstairs "suite" is magnificent, bathroom is crazy. The beds were super comfortable and there was a ton of stuff for you to use - tons of glasses, plates, silverware, appliances, towels, beach chairs, kayaks, etc. It really is a great getaway, especially for a family or girls' trip. They also have netflix, pandora, and other great amenities on the tv. Great surprise! We did not want to leave!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My group stays at Kentigern every year. We call it "the Castle," and we love it. It is decorated and stacked with everything that you need. I am not just talking cheap pots and pans either like most rental places. The views are spectacular for every floor. The floor to ceiling windows are gorgeous. I would move in if I could, and spend half of my life in that master suite bathroom! I am almost afraid to write this review for fear that we will have to start fighting people off for rental space.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My family spent a wonderful week at here. The views were incredible, house magnificent and we had such a relaxing time. The ammenties of the house were all top notch. The beds were sooo comfortable. My 5 year old grandson loved crabbing in the pond and my 3 month granddaughter got her first beach experience. The weather was 97 degrees but we had a breeze on the beach. I had my first Kayak experience, which was alot of fun. We would highly recommend this rental and hope to come back again. Scotland is a beautiful area, perhaps we might wander away from the house next time.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
