Scotland house description

Savor dramatic penthouse views in your own private beach house. This light-filled four-story house offers the best in outdoor luxury living. Surrounded by glass and balconies on every level, Kentigern provides bedrooms with private balconies and great gathering spaces, all in one home. Enjoy the fun of your group and then retreat to your own space. Fall asleep to the sound of waves in the background. Wake up to fabulous sunrises over the Chesapeake Bay. This is a house you won’t want to leave.
Kentigern is sited on its own 2 acre sandy lot with a beach at the south end. For the adventurer, 2 kayaks on premise are provided for guest use. Kayak directly on the Chesapeake Bay or in the quiet solitude of one of the creeks where you and the herons may be the only guests. This house is an away destination: Herons are joined by osprey, bald eagles, pelicans and the occasional dolphin or two.
Scotland is steeped in history, too. St. Mary’s City, 10 miles away, is the original capital of Maryland. The area dates back to the 1600s and was one of the early colonies. Only 80 miles away is the nation’s capital, Washington, DC – if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful beach setting. Point Lookout Park, a Civil War POW camp and now a large park and campground, is only a short bike ride away. Nestled between the Bay and the Potomac River, the Park is worth an expedition.
Return to Kentigern again and again.

This place has the most beautiful views to wake up to in the morning! The kitchen was made for a chef and had plenty of room for everyone. We used the stairs most of the time but it was nice for my Father-in Law to have the elevator. The only downfall was the cold weather. We'll have to rent again in the summer!

We stayed here for a weekend with a few friends for my 25th Birthday. It was absolutely amazing. The pictures do the master bedroom no justice. The view is breathtaking. The kitchen was lovely to cook in and the pantry was stocked with lots of condiments etc which came in handy because we forgot a few extras. We will absolutely be back and have told numerous people about the rental. Thank you so much!

The Beach house was exactly as described in the listing, plus some. The photos did the actual rental's appearance no justice, it was more beautiful in person. The property was clean, well maintained, and well cared for (inside and out). We were pleasantly surprised at how completely stocked the unit was. Everything we needed for a weekend get away was there; pantry, linens, toiletries,entertainment... it was as if someone customized the place just to suit our needs. The realtors and property owners were eager to respond to all our questions and concerns down to the very last minute at check-out. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a secluded spot to kick back, relax and enjoy the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Scotland Rocks! John and Benja (St. Marys, GA)

Our week at Kentigern was exceptional. Perfect weather, an excellent balance of rough and calm waters, campfire, kayaking, FISHING, tons of photo opportunities and no shortage of other great memories. Our good friends also got engaged at Kentigern while we were there, congratulations to them! We went down with 2 other families, 11 in total, 6 adults and 5 children ranging from 1yr old, to 8yr old. There was always something great to do, and awesome views from every part of the property. This is the third time we stayed at a Scotland Yards property, second time at Kentigern, and our first trip was at Summerlee in 2010. Just like the other properties, there are property managers there to help with anything you could need, up to and including tips on some awesome places to check out while you are in Scotland, MD and the surrounding areas. We took a day trip to Smith Island, departing from the State Park just down the road. I would highly recommend that to anyone seeking to hit the water and check out the small island community. We rented some golf carts there with the kids and they had a blast! We also checked out St. Mary's which was full of great things for the kids to learn about, and even the adults too! Up a ways a bit further in Solomons Island area we hit up the Marine Museum there, another GEM of a place to take the kids. I feel like they learned more during our trip, than they do all year at school! We will be back every year for the foreseeable future. This place ROCKS!! I would recommend dealing with Scotland Yards, if you plan to really see and enjoy this area to the fullest!

My husband and I stayed here with our two adult children and their significant others. We didn't spend much time away from Kentigern because we found it hard to drag ourselves away. A week was not long enough! If anything, the photos didn't completely show the breathtaking beauty of the location. The house is designed to catch breezes off the Bay and is filled with light all day long. There is a lovely sandy beach located in the cove just south of the house. We thoroughly enjoyed the kayaks, with even the least athletic among us venturing out to enjoy being on the water. One evening we brought out the beach chairs to enjoy sitting around a campfire, listening to a chorus of frogs from the little pond/lake. Bicycles were another special, much appreciated touch. As other reviews have mentioned, the master bedroom and bathroom on the fourth floor are magnificent. A nice surprise was the secluded and cozy reading area on the stair landing. The elevator makes bringing up luggage a breeze. The living room is much larger than we expected and takes up half of the third floor, with plenty of comfortable seating. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious with plenty of counter space and both a stocked food pantry and a pantry for dishes. Two of the bedrooms are on the second floor, both with their own bathroom, huge closet and access to the outside deck. There is also a niche with a place to set up a computer and a printer, useful for printing out business documents. Even using the Electrolux front-loading washer and dryer was a pleasure. The fourth bedroom, located on the first/ground floor has a bunk bed with a larger bed on the bottom. There is also a comfortable futon, a table and chairs and a TV, along with a bathroom, making that room a complete suite on its own. Any questions or problems we had were addressed immediately by the property managers. We would highly recommend Kentigern to anyone looking for the perfect getaway, not far from major cities but in a world of its own!

What a spectacular home and property. We rented this property for our daughters graduation from St Marys College of Maryland. It also happened to be Mothers day weekend. What a blessing this property is. You may feel like you are in the middle pf nowhere but this home has everything you will ever need. Top of the line appliances furnishings two fully stocked pantries with any dish glass or even esspresso maker you might need. Outside: bikes kayaks horseshoes every deck has tons of seating. You will not ever want to leave. We cant wait to go back. So much room to spread out. I encourage all SMCM parents and Alumni to stay here dont waste your money on hotels. Lots of great little restaurants and the Ridge Market have any supplies you need. No need to go all the way to lex park or california md.

What a wonderful, wonderful home. The photos DO NOT do this rental justice. The location is breathtaking. The views are awesome. No matter where you are in the house, there are views galore. I lived on the living room balcony and just watched the Chesapeake Bay - the water (which seems to have a life of its own), the ships/boats, the birds, the ducks, and the other wildlife. My favorite place was the top floor. WOW!!! Gorgeous bedroom and magnificent view. Stunning bathroom that is as large as the bedroom. Fantastic view while showering was an added plus. I giggled at my good fortune, I have to admit. Everything's so modern, chic, and beautifully decorated with intent on luxury and function. Let's not even speak of the elevator. Who knew? I know it sounds cliche, but we didn't want to leave. And, on our last day there, it was sunny and beautiful and warm. Come one, come all to this amazing gem of a hideaway. We're certainly coming back!!!!!!!!!!!

We couldn't be more pleased with our experience. Phenomenal location! This house is gorgeous, luxurious, stylish, and peaceful. Not sure how we managed to get so lucky! Many thanks to the home owner. It was a truly special experience for a us group of girls. We can't wait to return during the summer months to enjoy the kayaks, private beach, bicycles, and outdoor spaces. Make sure to check out Buzzy's while you're in town!
