Great couples vacation
Great couples vacation
We really enjoyed this home. Having vacationed in the Outer Banks for almost 20 years, this vacation was one of the most comfortable homes we have enjoyed. We rented stand up paddle boards for the week and were able to drive less than five minutes to drop into the sound side waters with our boards. Any issues that were encountered were dealt with immediately by the local management company. The management company was quicker to respond than any realty company we have dealt with in the past. The owners were great to work with as well. They were very flexible in accommodating our 10 day length of stay that included two weekends. Very clean, well equipped kitchen. I loved having the Keurig coffee pot! Avon is an ideal location. Beds were incredibly comfortable. We have never slept as well as we did that week, outside of our own home. The neighborhood was quiet. I highly recommend this home for a couple's getaway, or families with children.

Home Away From Home
Your vacation property felt like home away from home! The kitchen provided every cooking necessity we could think of. We used the washer and dryer every day. We were surprised to see that even a cooler was provided and very thankful because it came in handy. We had an amazing week soaking up sun and playing tourist. We could not get over how quiet the community was. The entire experience is one that we plan on having again. Thank you for allowing us the experience of staying in your property. I don't think we could have stayed anywhere better whether it be a home or a location on the island. Your place is the perfect beach paradise!

Great place for a yearly gathering of friends
Great place for a yearly gathering of friends
I spent my vacation here last June with a group of good friends. It was GREAT! The home is close to the beach. The pool is nearby and it's huge. I mean...five people could swim laps and not begin to disturb a crowd of swimmers. Many families ate a picnic lunch at the pool sitting around tables in comfy chairs. At night we sat in the hot tub, amazed at a starlit sky, brighter than I'd ever seen. As an artist, I was impressed with the local gallery scene. Original, contemporary artists offered work at fair, yet very reasonable prices. Finally, with as many tourists as the region receives, I was amazed at how successful they are in not allowing the place to feel "touristy." If you are considering a quiet, clean, and affordable beach get-a-way, you couldn't do much better than this cottage by the sea. By the way...The claim of comfort in the listing is accurate. I'm considering buying a new mattress because the sleep I had on the memory foam bed was amazing. I actually slept through the whole night without waking up. I haven't done that in years.

Family Labor Day Weekend!
Family Labor Day Weekend!
We had 2 families that stayed over Labor Day weekend 3 young ones and 4 adults. We had the perfect amount of space for all of us. The views at night of the moon and during the day were great. We enjoyed the hot tub a few nights and also went down to the beach to make a fire and roasted marshmallows to make smores. (The Beach is walking distance, with little ones it took us around 10-15 minutes... if you have speedy walkers it could be less:) We drove our stuff down the first time around during our DAY Beach trip and when we went at night for the fire we walked. THEY LOVED IT! We also brought our fishing poles and went fishing, the kids also fed the turtles in the pond around the corner. There is a market next to the development as well as an ACE where they carry firewood and roasting sticks<-- bring them if you own some and plan on making a fire. You also need to get a fire permit and fishing permit which is also very easy. We picked up some charcoal and grilled a couple of nights and went out to eat a few times too... a lot of local places around down the road (5 minutes and great food). Defiantly bring TOWELS like it says in the description... bring extra there are 0. There is a laundry room where we washed our towels a couple of times so we could reuse them if we had them at the beach etc.Honestly I rather use my own towels anyway:) The place was great the kids enjoyed it a lot as well. Oh another highlight was the ice-cream truck that came around EVERYDAY the Kids LOVED it and the ice-cream man got a lot of business from us:) Overall a GREAT TIME!

A Summer Delight!
A Summer Delight!
We stayed at Sea's Calling in August and truly enjoyed our visit to the island. The house is quite cheery and spacious with lots of nice perks, including a wonderfully stocked kitchen and a super comfy sectional sofa in the great room! The house is incredibly clean and had been freshly painted and had new flooring installed throughout the house. There is a roomy deck that looks out over the neighborhood that this house is located in, which is quite nice for relaxing etc.; however it would have been nice to have an outdoor eating area. Unfortunately, there is no view of the ocean from this house but you are able to look out over parts of the island in the distance. The outside eating area wasn't such a big deal b/c there is a really large dining table inside that makes it easy to have a lively family dinner around. The beach is about a 10-15 minute walk across a rather busy highway so I would recommend driving as we did if you have young children or people in your party with disabilities. Parking was super easy and the beaches were incredible! I have never seen such beautiful sand dunes and waves in my entire life! The kids did go to the neighborhood pool a couple of times, which they greatly enjoyed and the close proximity to a grocery store and several nice restaurants was super convenient as well. There’s even a movie theatre close by! I would strongly suggest that you check out the various lighthouses on the island and the fun little shops etc. A trip to Oracoke Island on the ferry was most delightful and made for a good experience. All in all, we had a delightful time at Sea's Calling...the owners of this house are super nice and accommodating and are eager to please! We had an issue with ants (due to all of the rain it has been a "year of the ants" on Hatteras) and the owners sent someone out right away to take care of it. And when we got back, I contacted them about a couple of things and they were most helpful! If you're looking for a fun place to stay when you visit the OBX, I would recommend Avon and Sea's Calling. I'm sure that you will make as many memories as we did when we visited!

We traveled to the Outer Banks for the first time seeking relaxation and pure family fun. That is exactly what we experienced. We stayed the week at Seas Calling in Avon. What a great family home! The house was spotless and felt like a home away from home. Lots of room to kids to play, a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable sleeping. We enjoyed the hot tub as we watched the beautiful moonlight sky. The pool was at the top of the kids list. Easy walk to the beach as well. The owners are especially easy to deal with and friendly. We would love a return visit!!!

Manager response: Thank you for making Sea's Calling your temporary home while visiting the Outer Banks for the first time! We are excited to hear that you and yours enjoyed all of the amenities we believe our home has to offer. Come back anytime! We look forward to hearing from you in the future!
The Seas Calling was perfect for our family size, there is 7 in our family. The house was beautifully decorated, and the beds were so comfortable just like it says in the description. We had so much fun and I was the most relaxed on this vacation then the others we've had in the past. The location was great, grocery store right around the corner, fish market right around the corner, the ocean 5 min walk which was AWESOME! We could also see the ocean from the 3rd floor. We grilled out a lot more than we usually do which was very nice. Vacations in the past seem to just fly by so fast, but when we stayed it was nice because it seemed to just be as a vacation was supposed to be which is relaxing! Loved the hot tub being right off the second floor and I had a view of the ocean sitting in the hot tub. Our family took the fairy boat over to Ocracoke and it was nice, we even ate at a restaurant that was kid friendly. Our 17 year old was at the ocean everyday that we stayed there. While we were there we celebrated Easter and our kids colored eggs, and we had an egg hunt 4 different times in the house, which the kids loved because there was always some place new to hide. We kept count so no eggs were left to rot. When I got home from our vacation I was asked by a friend what I liked best....I really couldn't answer one thing because it was all really great!! If I had to answer only one thing I would say what wonderful memories we created for our family at this house!! I asked the kids and my husband if they ever wanted to come back, they didn't want to leave. We will definitely be back to the Seas Calling!!

Manager response: We are thrilled that you had a fantastic time in our home and that you hope to return in the future! It sounds like you enjoyed many of the conveniences of the location of our home, too! Glad you were able to take advantage of what we believe to be a reasonable walk to the beach. We, too, have enjoyed the hot tub and the view of our community that it provides.
My family and I arrived at Sea's Calling on Saturday afternoon. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the house, size of the house and the location. Rooms were spacious, very private. I liked the fact that the bedrooms were all on one floor. My grandsons really enjoyed the hot tub. The bedrooms were spacious. The mattresses were so comfortable, I even spoke with the owner and asked where they purchased them. As far as the water, I had no problem with the water. I took into account that there were so many storms the week we were there. My clothes did not turn or fade when washed. As far as the water for drinking, I never drink water out of the spikots anywhere I go, I always use bottled water. The pool was great, very spacious and clean. Food Lion was within walking distance, if you so desired to walk. There were shops for shopping which was great. The beach was great and within walking distance. The mosquitos were a problem but the neighborhood was sprayed each night. I think the mosquitos were from all the rain, it had nothing to do with Seas Calling alone. I would recommend this house to my family and friends and I will rent Seas Calling again in the near future. Thank you owners for your great hospitality and the great, comfortable home away from home.

Sea's Calling is a beautiful house and VERY clean. We loved the layout of the house and how beautifully it is decorated. The top floor was open and very welcoming. It was all about food, fun and family for us. You can even see the ocean from the third floor deck. The second floor with all the bedrooms was very convenient and there were a ton of storage areas. I loved the mattress we slept on (master bedroom) so much that I am going to buy one for my bed. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to test it out that week. The washer and dryer worked perfectly. I have been staying at the Outer Banks since the late 70's and have accepted the fact that the water there is not fresh and clean like the city water we have. It was really nice being able to park our vehicles under the house in the shade. We even used the hot tub several times. What a treat. Because we rented a four wheel drive truck, we did not have to walk to the beach on our day trips, but we did stroll over there a couple of times early in the morning and it was such a pleasant walk through this quiet and friendly neighborhood. We had a great time taking advantage of the pool and the tennis court. We all went to see the the Lost Colony in Roanoke. I had not seen it in years. It was fantastic. After we returned home, I contacted the owners about a few odds and ends. She assured me that they would take care of those things and thanked me for bringing them to her attention. The owners are great. There were eight of us, we all had a terrific time and we would definitely recommend staying at Sea's Calling in the Kinnakeet Shores.

Year Purchased: 2002
Our Family has been vacationing in Avon since I was a little boy. My father bought the house for our family to use and to always have our memories of being together in this wonderful house. My father decided to sell it to us so it can stay in the family since he no longer can take care of the beach house due to his age. My best friend, whom I have known since I was 3 years old and is Godparent to our children, also is part owner of this wonderful home. So I am grateful that we can continue coming down for hopefully many more memories with all of our children. We hope that you can also enjoy our beach house and build your memories of a great, fun, and relaxing vacation at Sea's Calling.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Free Community Pool/Tennis Courts. Walking trails around neighborhood. Extremely close to Food Lion, movie theater, and various restaurants for dine-in and take-out. For your convenience we have a Pack N Play, high chair, and umbrella stroller for your little ones. There is a deck box with two beach chairs, some beach and pool toys, and a cooler for your use. One of the best communities in Avon!
