Now Booking for Summer and Fall 2013. Cottages of Live Oak, One of St. Simons Best communities is conveniently located off Demere Road, just before Beach Drive. Only a few minutes walk to the Beach or the Village make this cottage the best location on the island.
Kahula's Cottage offers a unique Beach Bungalow style with pine floors, open and spacious rooms, and three (yes, three) porches. Enough porches and patios(5 total) so everyone can find their favorite spot to escape and relax while staying here.
The living area has plenty of seating and a very comfortable New sleepe sofa and chair and ottoman (extra sleeping space for two people). A fireplace anchors the light filled room which open up to the screened in porch at the far end of the room. The dining room table is an antique farm table and seats six to eight. The wall color in the dining room and kitchen reminds you of the color of the Mediterranean or the Caribbean. All the windows in the dining room view the private pool and hot tub. The fully appointed kitchen boast stainless steel appliances, gas stove, double doored refrigerator and unique open viewed glass cabinets above the bar area.
The master bedroom is on the main level and has a new queen-size pillowtop mattress and boxsprings. dresser and vanity table plus flat screen tv. The other two bedrooms are upstairs as well as the second full bath and the laundry area and sundeck. One of the upstairs bedrooms has New twin boxsprings and mattresses has a queen size bed. One of the upstiars bedrooms has a small tv. The upstairs sundeck has recently been furnished with adirondak chairs and side tables. It is the perfect spot to enjoy the warm sunny winter days or watch the stars in the summer.
The front porch has two rockers and a porch swing and beckons you with a wonderful red front door. The gunite pool and hot tub are the icing on the cake for this very well appointed and relaxing cottage. Park your car when you arrive and walk to the village or beach. Enjoy!

My family loved our week long stay at Kahlua's. What a charming and comfortable home! It was light, bright, airy, spacious, very clean and nicely decorated. The pool and hot tub were private and well-maintained. It was also well-equipped with everything you could need and then some. We kept discovering little fun extras like the most adorable picnic basket we took to the beach, just for example. The location was perfect, very close to so many beach access points, just a quick walk a couple blocks. You can also easily walk or bike to the downtown village area with shops, restaurants, the lighthouse and the pier. It was our first visit to St Simon's and we all had a great time, even the teenagers who are hard to please. Next time we return to the island, we will definitely look to rent this place again!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We loved our stay in St Simons. The property was perfect for us. We enjoyed the charm and comfort of the lovely home. Every effort was made to meet the renter's needs. The pool area was beautiful and sheltered so that you could even enjoy the space on cooler days. The location is convenient to both the beach and the village. We had a wonderful week at Kaluha's cottage. The location is ideal and our grandchildren especially enjoyed the backyard pool on days it was too hot to be at the beach too long! We loved the lighthouse area with the playground and enjoyed walking on the beach in the evening. The only problem we encountered was the grill at the cottage was not working. I had planned to grill steaks and burgers the night we arrived and found the gas grill had no hoses connecting them to the tanks. We called the owner who responded and sent someone to"fix" the grill but he came looked at it and never returned. Otherwise our stay was great and we definitely would return to St. SimonsRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This was our first trip to St. Simons. We all loved this house. It was spacious, comfortable, organized, and had all the creature comforts that you would need! Really loved the screened in porch too. We had everything close by including the village shopping, public beach, site seeing, and horse back riding. We all loved the pool -- just the right size.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

The house; the location; the pool/hot tub - Everything was wonderful and super comfortable with lots more room than the photos show! Our first couple of days a tropical storm came through, but the house was so well built, we barely noticed the storm and continued having a great time playing games and watching movies!:) We had an amazing time and hope to do it again next year!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We had the best vacation of our lives at this bungalow at St. Simons. It was just my husband and I and only for a weekend, but we will be going back with our daughter this year! We relaxed by the pool and hot tub all weekend. Initially we were concerned about the pool being in the front but it turned out to be very private. House has everything you need and the owner is wonderful to work with for keys etc. The location is perfect. My husband and I are runners so we ran to town every morning and all around the beautiful neighborhoods. We had a great experience!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We spent six nights at Kahlua's Cottage and loved every minute of it! The property is as described, and you really couldn't ask for a better location on SSI. There were three teenagers in our group and they loved the house, loved the pool, and especially loved the fact that they could walk almost anywhere they wanted to go. The village and pocket beaches are literally just a few minutes walk. The only time we even used the car was to head down to East Beach, or for our jaunt into Savannah. The kitchen is really well appointed, and there's not a thing you need to take - it truly has everything you'll need. There were so many 'favorites' about this property, I can't pick just one. I'm certain we'll be back again soon!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This is the 4th time staying at the same place. That has to speak wonders. This time we had family members come with us, 4 grand children to keep happy, WE DID IT. They loved it, Pool, Hot tub, Ocean, Village, and the Fire Works ( we were there over the 4th of July). I just can't get enough of this place. Such nice people to rent from.. Can't wait till we can come back. Make sure you hit the tidle pools at the East Beach. Oh don't forget your cooler, you won't want to leave once you get there.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This is a beautiful home, in a great location. The walk to the beach and the village were just a short distance. We all enjoyed the pool, especially our 9 year old daughter. We ate in most of the time, but we did eat at Barbara Jean's and loved it!! I will be ordering some of their food online so we can enjoy it at home. We visited Jekyll Island, Cumberland Island, Savannah, and Fort Frederica during our stay. Cumberland Island was amazing! We saw wild horses, a wild turkey family and about 15 dolphins while we were swimming in the ocean. My daughter has a "fish story" to tell her friends after visiting Cumberland Island. She was swimming in the ocean when a small fish jumped out of the water and hit her in the leg. It was really a site to see. My daugher cried when it was time to leave. We will definitely be returning to St. Simons and to Kahlua's Cottage. I would highly recommend this property to friends and family.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

About the owner: Hi, We are the Jones. We have 3 almost grown kids, Shelby and his wife and son Declan live in Charlotte, Megan lives in Atlanta, and Leslie graduated from Ole Miss and now lives in Charleston SC. We also have Kahlua our Chocolate Lab Mix dog, and two Granpuppies, Emmy , and Burton. We live in Atlanta, in the Virginia Highland area. Beverly and Mac both went to UGA and as you can tell from our house we are big Bulldog fans, and also big Rebel fans (Hotty Toddy). We previously lived in Forsyth County for 11 years, Houston Texas for 5 years, and Roswell GA for 10 years.
Why the Owner Chose Cottages at Live Oak Place:
Having grown up in Georgia, both Mac and Beverly have been coming to St Simons and the Golden Isles since they were kids. We love the quaint atmosphere of St Simons. When we found the house at Cottages of Live Oak, the floorplan was so comfortable and made for a relaxing place for us to spend time with our grown kids, and friends and family. Kahlua's Cottage has fullfilled our dream and is very much a relaxing home away from home. The pool and hottub have really been enjoyed by all, especially Kahlua and Emmy. The location is perfect because we can walk or ride bikes to the village area and also to the area on Ocean Dr where Crab Daddies and Beachcomber BBQ(our favorite local restaurants) are located. We really enjoy walking Kahlua to the beach in the afternoon and sit on one of the pocket beaches (1/4 mile from Kahlua's) and watch the ships come in and out of the Brunswick Harbor. If we want to spend a day at the beach we usually go to the Coast Guard Station near East Beach and park there. The beach stays good there all day long(about 1/2 mile from Kahlua's). We also loved all the porches that Kahlua's Cottage has, the front porch, the screened porch and the top porch upstairs. It is a perfect day when we can sit in the rockers on the front porch and drink coffee, then ride bikes to lunch somewhere on the island, then go sit on the beach in the afternoon and watch the ships come in and out and then finish up by walking to Crap Daddy's for dinner. Then back home for one more stroll to the beach with Kahlua. He loves being able to run on the beach by moonlight.

Great Location for getting to Village, Beach, and other areas of the Island!! Private pool and hottub, and best porches around!!!!!The kitchen is stocked better than my kitchen at home!!!Check to see what the tide is doing before you leave the house, which is important since the beaches closer to the village tend to disappear during high tide, but the beaches towards East Beach are always good!
