Estes Park house description
Come and stay at the Hill House - a stone's throw away from the National Park Boundary. Enjoy wildlife on your doorstep and carefully tended native perennial flowers while staying in a cozy, homey environment.
The house faces south with a sweeping view of Longs Peak and neighboring mountains. Our large wrap-around porch is the best access to the yard of flowers and reflecting pond. It is perfect for reading, dining, being entertained by our visiting hummingbirds, or watching the elk and mule deer pass by. You can even grill or eat outside during our afternoon thunderstorms.
The National Park is just out the back door. The entrance station can be reached without having to negotiate downtown traffic and you can even hike in on foot. If you do want to go downtown and don't want to hassle with parking (a momentous task in the summer months), you can take the town's free shuttle. There is a stop just at the end of the road.
The house boasts three bedrooms, all with private bathrooms. The two bedrooms on the second floor offer privacy, a queen size bed, heated floor in the bathroom, a sitting area, and an eastern or western exposure. The third bedroom is on the ground floor with a queen bed.
A well-arranged baker's kitchen offers a large island, two ovens, a microwave, dishwasher, and other small appliances.
On chilly evenings the wood stove warms the dining room that seats (8) with a view of Longs Peak from the oversized door.
The cozy living room offers two pull-out couches, cable TV, a combo DVD-VHS player, books of the area, movies, and games.
Wireless internet is also available.

Loved Hill House
Loved Hill House
Excellent house with 3 separate bed and bath rooms plus an additional 1/2 bath. Awesome view of Longs Peak and there were elk and wild turkeys to watch in field in front of the house from beautiful wraparound porch! It was very clean and well furnished...everything we needed. We would highly recommend Hill House and would definitely stay there again!

I and other members of my family had a wonderful time. The location is perfect - close to town but far enough away from the crowds too. The cabin suited all of our needs and the large porch was were we spent a great deal of time relaxing and watching the wildlife that ventured by.

Rocky Mountain Getaway
Rocky Mountain Getaway
We spent a wonderful week at Hill House with our adult children and their spouses. As another reviewer stated, the house has character and rustic charm. Just what we wanted for our vacation getaway. And it is very clean. The three bedrooms each with a private bath were perfect for our three couples. The kitchen was terrific for cooking some delicious breakfasts and dinners. The view of Longs Peak from the front porch is spectacular. One day a herd of elk was grazing in the grass across the street. The house is in a very quiet and peaceful location between Estes and RMNP, which was perfect for us as we went hiking in the park every day. Estes gets very busy, so it was great not having to drive through town to get to the park. We had a great vacation, and Hill House is a great base to experience and enjoy the Rocky Mountains!

After attending our son's wedding in Denver, we escaped for a week to Estes Park. My wife, son and his family (including two grandsons under 4), and daughter loved the house. The location and view from the porch of Longs Peak was perfect. We had elk walk by the house, as well as deer. We saw a double rainbow the night before we left. Everyone appreciated a bathroom with each bedroom. The house was very comfortable and I couldn't help but think about how nice it would be to sit in front of the fireplace on a winter night looking out the window at the mountain. Close to town, yet very private. Owner was great. We definitely recommend this house.

Great house with an amazing view!
Great house with an amazing view!
After a wonderful week in Estes Park, I have to agree with all the glowing reviews we read about Hill House before we booked. We spent hours on the porch enjoying the amazing view of Long's Peak. The location is very convenient for the park, town and other attractions. The house is cozy and comfortable and Trish was so helpful as a resource for what to see and do.

Calls in the Wild
Calls in the Wild
I just returned to northern Virginia after visiting my (adult) daughters in Colorado. We spent a fabulous weekend together at Hill House and we're ready to go back. The weather was gorgeous. The view of Longs Peak from the front porch was spectacular. The bright stars, bugling elk and coyotes howling in the night truly put us in the wild - and generated much conversation at breakfast. The house has character and rustic charm. Three bedrooms with their own bath offer plenty of privacy. This is a mountain getaway where all you have to do is relax. And, the location is perfect - outside of the chaos of Estes Park and just down the road from Rocky Mountain National Park where the Trail Ridge Road is not to be missed. If you have never experienced the Rocky Mountains, go see them if you can. If you do, this is a great place to kick off you adventure.

Brown Family Wedding Weekend
Brown Family Wedding Weekend
Our family rented the Hill House for two nights the 1st weekend in Sept 2012. The reason for our stay was a family wedding that took place just a few turns down the road right in the middle of the gorgeous Rocky Mountain National Park. The home exceeded our expectations in every way and was absolutely perfect for all that we required for our stay and more. My family, which included myself, my husband and our two young children, and my mother and father-in-law all stayed in the house and found it to have plenty of room for all. There were even toys and games to entertain the kids, which we took full advantage of. :) My mother-in-law kept commenting on how clean the house was, which is really was. The views were beautiful and even encountered a herd of Elk right out the back door, which was breathtaking. Not something we get to experience in Oklahoma. :) All in all it was a great trip and a perfect house. We would definitely recommend it for your stay in Estes Park. I even told Trish, we would for sure be calling her to rent it again the next time we make it up there. Thank you for making it an amazing family trip for us!

Owner response: Thanks so much for your lovely coments, I'm so glad someone noticed how hard I work to present a clean house......And Happy for the toys to be put to good use.....
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hill House. We liked that it was not in town and yet very convenient to everything. The porch was amazing. It provided great views and a wonderful place to relax after hiking and sightseeing. We had plenty of room for our extended family to stop by and visit or share a meal. I highly recommend Hill House.

Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: I returned to Estes Park because of fond memories of earlier days working at Dude ranches in the area. I purchased Hill House in 2007. I have the good fortune to work in the Park with the Resource Division. I tend to the native plants during the day and then to my own at home. My background is plants so the yard around Hill House has a mixture of native and other perennials. I have spent the last 4 years improving Hill House. What was once a little house with an attached rickety cabin is now a simple but comfortable home. I salvaged all I could when I dismantled the cabin addition and have reused much of the paneling, trim, and exterior siding. I was able to build a small green house using the old windows, siding on the floor, and reused roofing. I also frequented building material recycling yards and have purchased items such as sinks, vanities, the sliding door in the kitchen, as well as other doors. After this long road of never-ending projects, I am excited to share Hill House with you. Check out Hill House on facebook to see the before and after pictures.
Why the Owner Chose Estes Park:
Hill House is close to my beloved Rocky Mountain National Park (I can walk to work). Longs Peak and surrounding mountains can be seen from the front porch. The neighborhood is in a quaint older area of Estes.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
If you are tired of driving or didn’t bring a car, free transportation is conveniently available from Hill House. After a long day of hiking or hitting the shops, Hill House is a great place to relax. The comfy chairs on the wrap-around porch offer not only views of the mountains, but the continuous entertainment of the local birds enjoying all the flowers in the yard.
