  Very cozy but not small! We loved walking the beach and were able to enjoy a campfire even though it was a little chilly after sunset. This cottage is everything the owner lists and more!

  This was the perfect vacation! We have two boys with special needs and the slop down to the water was perfect. We also have two labradors who love playing the water with all three of our boys on the private beach. The photos barely do The Clearing justice and the house is beyond cute, with tons of room! We also loved how private The Clearing was compared to most beach houses. The wooded lot wraps around you. It feels like you are the only ones on the beach. Our family enjoyed playing games as the huge dining room table even on the rainy day we had. We can't wait to come back!

  We loved The Clearing. This is our second time back and we will never rent another lake home in Oostburg. Everything was perfect! The house, the beach, the water. We jumped waves every day (we are in our 50s) walked the beach and the Pine Beach Rd, enjoyed grilling out with friends and bonfires at night. This is the coziest, most beautiful place on earth!   We just got back from a full week at The Clearing and LOVED it! There were 5 adults in our group, and there was plenty of space for all of us to spread out and do our own thing. It’s an easy drive there from the tollway, and the cottage is on a beautiful private road in the woods. It is RIGHT on the beach; you step off your deck and onto the beach directly. The owner mentions this is a place to escape, and he’s right; don’t rent this home if you’re looking for a brand new house filled to the gills with electronics/technology. This is a clean, comfy, vintage-y cottage right on the beach where you have easy access to nature, beautiful views, and a place to slow down. The cottage reminded our group of a 1930s/40s cottage we used to visit yearly; it has timeless cottage charm and avoids being chintzy. We spent days reading, napping, taking walks along the shore & down the road, and eating pastries from the small-town bakery approx. a 5min drive away. We also enjoyed a bonfire on the beach and the deck & hammock. For almost all of our trip, we were completely alone on the beach; there was very minimal traffic- boat or people. We also enjoyed a movie each night on the nice flatscreen TV in the living room. It’s gorgeous, and I can’t wait to return! I have rented several vacation homes and heartily recommend this cottage!

  I cannot rave enough about "The Clearing". Even though there are neighbors all around, the feeling is of total privacy. The house is comfortable and has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and restful vacation.Everything but the food was provided. Rental price was fair and security deposit was returned promptly.The view of the lake is to die for! We can't wait to return. I would highly recommend this very lovely property.

  When I walk into my home, I think "we should redo our kitchen, or paint this wall, or.... fill in the blank". When we walked into the Clearing I thought "i wouldn't change a thing". What a Beautiful place! Amazing beach (even though it was 45?F in April), nice warm wood burning stove, stunning view. Thanks for sharing, hope to be back soon.

  This is our 2nd year staying at this location. This location is perfect for our family. We can bring our golden retriever and relax as the kids play in the lake all day. At night, we head to the beach for a fire and much needed family time. The owner is very responsive if you need anything. Head into town and get an Apple Fritter at the Oostburg bakery. Home away from Home.

  My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Clearing in April and it was just perfect. The house was plenty big, warm and inviting, the beach right outside the door and the area was quiet and private. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Clearing for family outings, romantic getaways and just kicking back with friends and family. We had a great time and certainly hope to return.

  My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend at The Clearing. Walks and jogs along the beach were wonderful, and our dog loved playing in the lake. Beautiful private setting. The home is well-stocked and has such a warm, relaxing feel. It's an easy drive from Milwaukee, but you feel like you're in the Northwoods or Door County!

  My husband and I have rented this property three times in the past two years. We love it! Great location, great beach access, and we LOVE that it's pet friendly. We didn't venture out too much into town, or dine out, because we had our dogs with us, and would not leave them alone in the property. When we rent beach houses, we prefer to cook onsite. The dining area is nice (a huge table for playing games or doing puzzles). We did bonfires every night outside. Lots of bright natural light to read too. I'm afraid if everyone keeps leaving good reviews, the Clearing will be rented all the time and it will be hard to get a week. :) We always think of the Clearing when we want a place to get away, relax, and where we can bring our furry friends.
