Located just east of Oostburg, Wisconsin beach and lake front home is a place to enjoy the seasons of Lake Michigan. You have your own 200 foot "singing sand" beach. Home is located on a private road among native stands of hemlock and pine trees. The property has historically been known as "The Clearing".
This Non-Smoking home sleeps six. The dominant windows bring the outside in throughout the house. Additional amenities include woodburning stove, beach campfire site, dining area overlooks the lake, sun room and cove rooms for coffee and quiet time overlooking the lake. Extra cabin in the rear has electricity, another two twin beds, and woodburning stove. This extra cabin provides a quiet place to get away from others or fun for the kids to hang out in.
Area Information: 43 miles north of downtown Milwaukee via I-43 and ten miles south of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Nearby attractions begin with golfing (Blackwolf Run Courses, Whistling Straits - site of PGA August 2004/2010 and 2007 US Senior Open, The Bull, The Bog, and others). Variety of shopping is available with Kohler, Cedarburg, Sheboygan riverfront and antique shops throughout the vicinity. Motor sports at Road America at Elkart Lake. Several bike trails are within ten miles. Daily fee access to private boat launch facility is 1/2 mile north. Nearby state parks of Kohler Andre and Harrington Beach provide further samplings of the area’s natural beauty. Casual and fine dining is available in Oostburg, Kohler and Sheboygan. Milwaukee area is home to many major events and attractions with less than an hour’s drive.

This is our 2nd year staying at this location. This location is perfect for our family. We can bring our golden retriever and relax as the kids play in the lake all day. At night, we head to the beach for a fire and much needed family time. The owner is very responsive if you need anything. Head into town and get an Apple Fritter at the Oostburg bakery. Home away from Home.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Clearing in April and it was just perfect. The house was plenty big, warm and inviting, the beach right outside the door and the area was quiet and private. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Clearing for family outings, romantic getaways and just kicking back with friends and family. We had a great time and certainly hope to return.

My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend at The Clearing. Walks and jogs along the beach were wonderful, and our dog loved playing in the lake. Beautiful private setting. The home is well-stocked and has such a warm, relaxing feel. It's an easy drive from Milwaukee, but you feel like you're in the Northwoods or Door County!

My husband and I have rented this property three times in the past two years. We love it! Great location, great beach access, and we LOVE that it's pet friendly. We didn't venture out too much into town, or dine out, because we had our dogs with us, and would not leave them alone in the property. When we rent beach houses, we prefer to cook onsite. The dining area is nice (a huge table for playing games or doing puzzles). We did bonfires every night outside. Lots of bright natural light to read too. I'm afraid if everyone keeps leaving good reviews, the Clearing will be rented all the time and it will be hard to get a week. :) We always think of the Clearing when we want a place to get away, relax, and where we can bring our furry friends.

Beautiful location and warm, inviting and secluded home. Long walks on the beach, bonfires on the beach at night, falling stars and breathtaking sunrises. What more is there. We are already planning our return trip.

Wow, what a beautiful location! It was heaven having the beach steps away. We had a fire in the fire pit every evening. The enclosed porch was ideal for watching the sunset. The kitchen was well stocked, spacious and easy to use. There are lots of games and puzzles included. It was so nice having a place for the dog to frolic off-leash. I would recommend this to anyone.

We had a wonderful time staying at The Clearing on Lake Michigan. The cabin itself is very comfortable with lots of space to spread out in, and the beach is unbelievable. We stayed midweek during the busy season of June and probably saw only 2 or 3 other people on the beach the whole time. Our dog had a great time running up and down the beach and playing in the water - the owner was very accommodating for pets. The cabin is close to Sheboygan (some great restaurants!) and several state parks with hiking, boating, etc. A wonderful place to relax and get away from it all.
