Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage, despite bad weather. Great location, could walk to beach with coffee or cocktail. Close to golf course and walking distance to Stinky's - and Gulf Place. We were there for spring break but wanted to be away from the crowds - so perfect for my husband and me. Cute, quaint, well-supplied with everything you need, including grill and beach chairs! Meredith is a great "owner," checked to make sure everything was OK - highly recommend.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was an absolutely perfect pick for my wife and I. The open floor plan and 180 degree windows looking out to a thick tree line around the property really made us feel secluded.. Felt very cozy and like home! Had two of our freinds stay with us for a night and two days, and the twin beds were perfect.. Much more so than a pull out couch. And made for great napping on rainy afternoons.. We cooked every meal in the kitchen or on the grill and spent every minute we could on the beach (we had scattered t-storms the whole week). The chairs, beach umbrellas, and cooler were perfectly effecient and all we needed to enjoy the beach all day. Kitchen had everything we needed and more. There was a redbox movie rental at the closest gas station which was great on rainy mornings. We brought our bikes expecting to ride back and forth to the beach, but never even pumped up the tires when we realized how close we were (and the rain kept us off the bike trails). Was really impressed with the beaches.. They are advertized as public, but had more of a private feel to them as the public parking was about a half mile away from the walking beach access in front of the house. And it really is steps away.. When it says a block, thats a really short city block.. Two houses.. Amazing value for this location (and the location far exceeded my expectations)! You know you picked the right place when you're dissapointed on leaving day and even more so when you get home... Already planning next summer!! Thanks again for a great week! We are new Santa Rosa converts..Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much Capt Ryan, glad you enjoyed. Will look forward to seeing you back soon.

My husband and I just returned from a weekend stay at this great little place. The photos are perfectly accurate. It is clean and comfortable, well decorated, kitchen is well stocked, and it's a VERY short walk to the beach. The cottage owner was so friendly and accommodating. We arrived late on our first evening and walked down for a great dinner at Stinky's restaurant. We have three older children, who reluctantly stayed home this trip. This cottage would be perfect for a family with younger children. If we return to this area for another date weekend getaway, this will be our spot!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much Amy!

Just got back from the "Surfer Cottage" and it was as advertised. Quaint home, 1 block from the beach with easy access. Owner was easy to work with. Photos are exactly the way the home looks. Property was clean and had everything you need to enjoy your week at the beach (beach chairs, towels, outdoor shower, etc). This part of Santa Rosa Beach is not as crowded as the beaches to the East and West. Great for small kids.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the review Steve! Come back soon.

The cottage was perfect! Honestly, I have no suggested improvements. The location is awesome, the look and feel of the property is exactly what one would want for a beach cottage getaway. The outdoor shower was epic and the house had everything we needed. The property was well stocked with towels and even float noodles. The owner was extremely accommodating and informative. The property is a short drive from local shops and restaurants. I recommend going to Seaside's Farmer's Market and Another Broken Egg breakfast. It was a great experience and we want to return as soon as possible!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the great review!

Oh, wow. We just got back from a week at this delightful little cottage, and we're already plotting a return trip. It's truly perfect. Neat as a pin, with well-planned space and decor that runs more to shabby chic than "put a seashell on it." Everything you could want is provide - chairs, umbrellas, cooler, LOTS of extra towels, board games for rainy days, wide variety of books, blender for margaritas! And on and on. We didn't turn the flat-screen TVs on once, but they're there if you want them. SO close to the public beach access, in a neighborhood that never gets too crowded. Plus it's biking distance from all kinds of great restaurants and shops. Could not recommend more highly!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much! Glad you all had a good time, hope the Internet connection was not too much of an issue! Hope to have you all back again. The beach is great, and much calmer in the winter months.

We had a great week of awesome weather, sheer laziness and easy access to beach every day. The cottage had all we needed and the outdoor shower was a fun bonus! We have stayed up & down 30-A over the years, and this was a perfect spot for us, we will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, tourists without a car.

When I tell people im going to the beach I say im going to "my cottage in Santa Rosa" because that is how I feel about this place! I have loved this little house since I was a little girl running around there barefooted chasing boys in a bikini and thats been a looong time!! lol. I havent met anyone with more class or nicer to rent from than M.B. and I can honestly say that the surfer cottage is the PERFECT place to stay with your family when visiting Destin or Santa Rosa beach!.. I could stay up all night and write a book about it but really yall should go and find out for yourselves!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This was an outstanding experience and one I would not hesitate to repeat. The pictures on the web are accurate and all amenities are there including beach towels, chairs and umbrella. There was even a cooler for the beer. The beach is literally one block away and beautiful, not very crowded and very clean. After walking back from the beach, all hot and covered with sand, the outside shower was a little touch of heaven. The cottage is clean, well equipped, nicely air conditioned and secure. All we needed was food and after a couple of days, it really felt like home. There are paved bike paths for miles along the beach road, rentals are easy and they deliver the bike right to your door. There are the usual touristy places to eat but we found a little place called "Hurricane's Oyster Bar and Grill" just north of Grayton beach that was friendly and popular with the locals. For a little more upscale evening, try the "Vue". It is just a mile from the cottage east on 30A, sits right above the beach and is part of the private Santa Rosa Beach Golf and Beach Resort but dining is open to the public. As you can tell, we really liked the whole experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the review Bill. Hope we see you next summer!

My fiancé and I wanted to take a quiet trip to the beach, and this was the PERFECT place for us to rest and relax. Just across the road from the beach, it couldn't have been easier for us to take a morning stroll along the water or take chairs over to sunbathe. The bedroom was lovely and quiet, and the windows on all four walls of the main living space made it light-filled and airy. We slept with all the windows open and listened to the sounds of the ocean! Friends joined us during our stay, and the twin beds were great for them to use while they were here. We cooked most meals in (using the kitchen and the grill provided), but the cottage is situated so close to 30A it made trips to Destin, Seaside, or Rosemary's restaurants quick and painless. In short, we loved it here! The listing is a great representation of the cottage, it was super clean and comfortable, and the owner very thoroughly answered any questions we might have had on the front end. I hope we can make it back there soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My friend and I had a wonderful time at this adorable beach cottage. It was perfect for a "grown up" girls get-away. Just a short walk to a beautiful section of the white sand beaches. We enjoyed eating outside on the patio. It was so nice to be able to walk right out to your patio and not be in a high-rise condo. I loved how close this beach house was to Hwy 98 and how close it was to all of the nearby beach towns. I can't wait to return to this little slice of heaven.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I had so much fun at this beach cottage. We have two small children, and the sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly for us. It was so nice to have the fenced in yard for them to play. We also loved the outdoor shower!! The closeness to the beach is unbeatable. We cooked out with the Weber Grill provided on the patio and loved eating at the picnic table. Great experience. We can't wait to go back!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Arrived a week ago and have had such a relaxing time at the beach. For the price, the value can't be beat. Stayed here years ago and the renovations and improvements to the property are to be commended. The cottage is sweet, warm and charming and the location couldn't be better. It's literally a two-minute walk to the sand and surf. We went to the beach each morning and evening with plenty of activities in the area during the day such as golfing, biking and outlet mall shopping. The area feels so charming and laid back and off-the-beaten-path with the hustle and bustle of Destin just a stones throw away. Sweet neighborhood with waves and smiles from the locals. As cozy as the cottage is, amenities such as Flat Screen TV's, cable TV and wireless internet are welcome surprises. We grilled in two nights and hit the local restaurant scene the other nights. It's an easy walk west on 30A--- less than a mile to Stinkys and about a mile east to Gulf Place and the Smiling Fish. If you want to drive, dining options abound in Destin, Seaside, Grayton and east. In all, a great, charming, affordable getaway. We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This is the cutest little beach cottage I have ever stayed in. It is literally one big room with a bed room off the main room--it's all you need. Tons of natural light. I can see the entrance to the beach from the chair I'm sitting in writing this review. The kitchen is just a simple galley kitchen but it has everything you need. Whoever decorated this place knows what they're doing; it's ADORABLE (no way it was a real surfer ;) And I definitely showered outside (inside too, but that's not as fun)--GREAT water pressure and it's totally private. It was JUST renovated--it has 1950s charm with great updates--spotlessly clean. This is a STEAL for how close I am to the beach.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We stayed at the cottage for the month of Feb. + one day and loved every minute. The location is excellent, a quick drive either into Destin (where we have vacationed with our family since 2000) or east on 30A to all the adorable beach towns. The cottage is well equiped, allowing us to enjoy a very comfortable, simple life away from home. We grilled fresh fish on the Weber, cooked in because we had everything we needed, had easy access to wonderful restaurant and activities, took long walks through the surroounding neighborhoods and on the beach. This was our first experience of being away for a month and we could have stayed indefinitely because we felt so at "home". It was completely awesome to open the door and hear the wind rustling the many palm trees and the surf two houses away.I can't say enough about the local contact making sure we were comfortable and informed about places to go and things to see. I would highly recommend this cozy, adorable cottage to anyone wanting a laid back, comfortable get away. A lot of bang for the buck. For us, it was a "snowbirds" paridise.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
