Pre arrival Generally very helpful people at Hawaii Life Location does not get any better. We never saw the folks in the main house, felt totally private in our cottage. Our lanai was priceless with the view of the beach across the lawn. We drove all over the island and walked the town and would not have wanted to stay anywhere else. Staff We got great info when we needed it, left alone when we needed it, and help when it was totally inconvenient for the staff thank you! Property: The house could use a few updates inside bathroom and main area floors but was clean enough and had a funky historic feel. Chickens I did not realize chickens and roosters would wake us up every morning not much to be done but to recommend people bring earplugs or install a window AC so you can sleep with windows closed if you want to The area So much to do hiking, surfing, running on the beach, swimming, etc. Beautiful and just remote enough with plenty of stores and restaurants within walking distance.Did you find this review helpful? Everything about this cottage is great. It is very clean, well kept, neat, and well stocked. It sits right at the heart of Hanalei Bay with exceptional views and is an easy walk 1.5 blocks to the heart of Hanalei town. The cottage is very quiet and private. It has its own privacy from the main house next door yet we had use of the entire estate, including the shaded hammock strung between palm trees, the volleyball net, the vast lawn, and of course the access to the beach. We enjoyed the BBQ charcoal grill, boogie boards, beach chairs, cooler, beach towels, as well as the linens and towels provided for inside. The kitchen is well stocked with a 4 cup coffee maker, toaster, ice maker, microwave, full refrigerator, stove/oven, TV, and iPod dock, plus a washer and dryer. Everything was of good quality and in excellent condition. The cottage also has a small safe for protecting personal items. This property is so well contained we enjoyed all of our meals on site, either on the beach, on the large porch overlooking the property and bay, or inside at the dining table. Shopping is conveniently a short walk away, as are restaurants, churches, and other services. The cottage is quaint, private and a perfect place for two. This property is a gem and historical. It takes you back to an earlier period in Hawaii. We will be back and plan to rent the entire property for the whole family. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for location, charm and privacy.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family had an amazing week! We are so sad to leave the BIg Red House in Hanalei. It was perfect from beginning to end. We loved all the activities you arranged- Melanie was phenomenal, and Donovan simply made our week. Once we get home, I would love to provide a written review for you and these folks. If there is somewhere you would like that sent, let me know, otherwise I will probably check Yelp or TripAdvisor. I assume you will send me the final bill for all the extras. They were well worth it! Mahalo, thank you, merci, etc!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
