It was like home... only better. The house is comfortable, and welcoming, and it is obvious that the owners care about the quality of your stay : a lot of lovely details in the decoration. The neighborhood is nice, close to Balboa park and a very good base to explore San Diego and the region. Thanks a lot! A very happy Parisian family who came back with a lot of positive energy to face the rest of the winter!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Five members of our family plus the two who live near this great rental, enjoyed a week of fun and a great Thanksgiving dinner in this excellent location. As others have stated, I do think some of the write-up needs to be reviewed. There is a second rental above the master bedroom and it is a project in process. The two queen beds are very comfortable. The twin room is home to an aquarium complete with water dragon so if you have reptile fears, perhaps not the place for you. All that said, we would definitely rent this home in the future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing.

I couldn't have asked for more from a vacation rental. I've read the other reviews on this rental and I don't understand all of the complaining! I mean, I guess there was a bedroom missing a baseboard, but I hardly noticed it and the rest of the whole house has beautiful crown molding all around it! I came down with some friends for a quick getaway and we hardly found a reason to ever leave the house! we loved having drinks around the fire pit, barbecuing and making our own pizzas! It was so nice to hang in the pool and sit at the bar outside and watch baseball during the day. Everything we could have wanted was at our disposal. Also, the house is in such close proximity to everything, we just walked to some local restaurants for dinner and drinks almost every night!! A couple of my favorite spots that we walked to were the sushi restaurant, local brewery, and a super yummy crepes and panini place! I understand that the pizza oven isn't aesthetically pleasing because it is just cement around it, but it works perfect, and the owners let me know that the only reason it looks like this is because they haven't decided which type of rock they want to use outside yet. I really wasn't bothered by it. The house is super up to date and very clean. The owners were super responsive and helpful to any questions I had while I was there and I would totally suggest this house to friends who want a little retreat down to SD.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

My family and I just returned from San Diego, we had a great time, our kids had a great time, even our 100lb lab had a great time. The location was just what we wanted and the house was beautiful. We visited so many attractions and so many great restaurants. We will definitely be back as soon as possible!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, two daughters (ages 2 and 15) and I spent a week at the Webb’s house. We were looking for a central location with plenty of room to spread out and loads of amenities--during Comic-Con. I say this to establish that I am a woman with lofty expectations. The house was a little expensive for a single family but, based on the pictures and description, the price seemed reasonable. The house was spacious and the we couldn’t have asked for a better location. The house has excellent potential but is presently a work in progress. In its current state, the house did not live up to my expectations. Large portions of the house are still under renovation—missing molding, exposed sheetrock, dank smell, etc. Also, despite being spacious, the house was very cluttered. My family has rented several VRBO properties. This was my first experience renting a part-time residence versus a dedicated a vacation rental. The house had virtually no storage because the owner’s belongings were stuffed in every nook and cranny. Between the clutter and the incomplete renovations, I was a little disappointed. That said, my undiscerning children absolutely loved the property! My two-year old constantly puts on her bathing suit (and rain boots?) and asks to go back to her “vacation home”. She loved the chickens and neighborhood cats, the fruit trees in the yard, the outside television, everything! This was our third VRBO rental in 2012 and, by far, her favorite. With different expectations, I may have liked it too. I must add, the Webb’s were excellent to work with. Lesley was very responsive and answered my hundreds of questions.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Being a mum, it's taken me some time to write a review but better late than never! We stayed at this rental for a week in May and we could not have be happier. When you walk into this beautiful house, you can't believe how much it goes on and on. Having a toddler, we we're really happy to find a place that gave us all so much room. The kitchen is a joy to cook in and the outdoor sports bar ensured my husband was more than entertained. We attempted a pizza in the wood fired pizza oven and it was great! If only we had the space to install one in our house! The pool, whilst not huge was great for cooling off and playing around and the chickens gave us fresh eggs every morning! What more could you want? The neighbourhood was extremely safe which was a huge concern to me, and the park and restaurants close by were perfect for us to walk to most days. I've no hesitation in recommending this rental, I'm sure you'll be as happy as we were. How do I start... The location of this home is excellent. It could not be better. We traveled with 4 adults and 4 kids (ranging from 2 to 12). The home handled our group easily. Based on the pictures and the price and the descriptions, we expected an immaculate home (their words). It was not. The front bedrooms were lacking molding and were under home improvement. The back bedroom closet was just sheetrocked and still being worked on. The deck is very nice but still a work in progress. All the area near the pizza oven and grill are simply cement boarded with exposed wires. The deck had some areas of unfinished deck where small kids could get a leg caught. The window in the front bathroom was covered in black mold around the edges. The dishwasher was broken and not told to us in advance. There is a backhouse that is also rented. We were not aware of this. At one point, the upstairs tenants were in the backyard that was supposedly ours. With small kids, we were not prepared for this and it was very concerning. Anyone with kids will understand our nervousness about backyard security after that. Parking. Our house key was for the front of the house. We assumed that was where we were to park. There was NO parking on the street. We only found out were were to park in the back after our stay. - even though our key was for the front door only...kinda odd. No huge deal but parking close would have been nicer than 10 or 12 houses away. The home was nicely decorated and was Vcomfortable. The street was safe with very little traffic, even if no parking!!! Plenty of hot water when we all needed to take showers (hey...it matters) The backyard, even incomplete with misleading pictures was very nice and fun to hang out in. I will say the owners do not think their images and descriptions are misleading even when I discussed this with them. The backyard is just not finished yet. It is 85% finished but the reality is there are plenty of areas in the home they are working on. Nothing they are working on ruined our trip in the least BUT for the price and descriptions given, we expected the home to be like the pictures presented. I ask myself would I stay there again. The answer is no. My expectations were based on this listing and we were let down a bit. Due to construction, the price was a bit high for what we got. If the description was accurate and the price was bit lower, our expectations would have been set lower and I think all concerns would have dissapearedRecommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Fantastic rental in quiet San Diego neighborhood. Especially good for families with kids. The owners had several things we could borrow to go out and about with our infant and toddler. Very close to Balboa Park and neighborhood restaurants. The owners were always available for questions. Fully stocked chef's kitchen. The most fantastic part was the outside which included a fire pit, dining area, soaking pool and bar with kegerator. They thought of everything! You won't be disappointed!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
