Private Homes, The Village house description
Welcome to Leaf and Needle!
This home has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a California king bed; the second bedroom has two bunk beds (one with a trundle); and the third bedroom has a queen bed. It easily accommodates our family of 4 and my brother's family of 4 as we enjoy spending quality time together in the mountains. The living room hide-a-bed, and the futon in the master bedroom allow guests to spread out. We provide clean towels and clean sheets on all the beds, with additional linens in closets if needed.
Our kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, dishes, pots, pans, mini crock-pot and more. We host Thanksgiving dinner here for our family, and find that the kitchen bar makes serving easy and convenient.
The living room opens up to the kitchen, letting the food preparer be a part of the group social scene. Entertainment in the living room includes a 33 inch TV with Bluray/DVD player that streams Netflix. If you just want to curl up on the couch, the wood burning stove offers a cozy atmosphere.
If the weather is nice outside, a large picnic table on the deck in the backyard provides a convenient place to eat. A charcoal BBQ is on the deck for grilling summer fare. If it's a bit hot and sunny, there is a large umbrella that can be found in the hall closet.
Leaf and Needle is less than one mile from The Village and the lake. There are many restaurants and shops in The Village, as well as two movie theaters. Holloway's Marina at the lake offers fishing licenses and boat rentals. The trailhead to Pine Knot trail is a five minute walk from the house. Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain, with it's snow play /inner-tube slope, water slide, miniature golf and bobsled slide is less than a half a mile away.
Please call if you have more detailed questions about what is available at Leaf and Needle. We hope you will come stay and make wonderful memories.

Owner response: Thank you for taking time to review your stay. We hope you visit us again.
Just wanted to let you know we really enjoyed your home. Everything was clean, the attention to detail great, and overall just pleasant. I appreciated the "kid-friendly-ness." I was able to manage my 1 and 3 year olds (who tend to be a bit crazy) without too much trouble. ;) We enjoyed the children's books you have there; we made a good find and ordered our own copy as soon as we got home!

First I would like to thank Laura for trusting us to stay in her cabin. I took my son and his friends for his 17th birthday and they had a blast. You feel like your at home. Very comfortable and clean. I couldn't ask for anything more. We all had an awesome time.

My family and I were very comfortable at this rental. It's conveniently located, clean, and well stocked with amenities. My 3 year old daughter felt at home here, a big plus as a parent!

Big Bear at its best
Big Bear at its best
We spent 3 nights at the property during a ski week break - 2 families (4 adults and 3 children). It was one of the best places we have stayed in Southern California (Big Bear, Mammoth, Idyllwild): spacious, well appointed, super clean, with an excellent layout. We highly recommend it.

We Loved It!!!!!
We Loved It!!!!!
We won our stay in our daughters school auction and were very excited for our trip. It was everything we had hoped for. Our 7 year old daughters and their friend had a great time as did the rest of us. The house is beautiful and had everything we could possibly need to enjoy our stay. I loved how close it was to the Alpine Snow Play area and to The Village. We had a couple of questions when we got up to the cabin and the owner was extremely responsive and friendly. I would defintley stay here again with our family. The set-up of the cabin was great for family time together. It was a perfect weekend for our family and friends. Thank you Laura for donating it to the school auction.

Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review and for supporting our school! We are glad you had everything you needed and enjoyed your stay. We look forward to having you again.
I celebrated my 30th birthday with my girlfriends and it was all I expected. The cabin is beautiful, comfortable and in a very cute and quiet neighborhood. We were pleased to find that the kitchen was stocked with things that we had forgotten to bring for cooking. One of the best part of our stay was the comfortable beds! I'm happy that my first experience in Big Bear was in this home and I am hoping to visit again with my daughter.

Great Home and Value!!!
Great Home and Value!!!
We have had a few hit and misses with Big Bear rentals the past couple of years. This was definitely a "hit"!!! The house is very clean and new. The kitchen is very large and comfortable and open to the family room so everyone is always together. The kitchen is fully stocked with about every unencil imaginable, so it's as if you're cooking at your own home. The best part about this home is the value. Most other homes were priced much higher (especially for the holiday season). The owner is very friendly and responsive with questions. I highly recommend this home for your next vacation!

About the owner: Our family of four enjoys discovering new places, sharing our favorites, and playing games. The bobsled at the Alpine Sled is a definite new favorite!
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, The Village:
Big Bear Lake is a 2 hour drive from our home and is beautiful all year. In the fall the leaves turn red and gold, in winter the snow brings snowball fights, sledding, skiing, and snowboarding. In the spring, the tulips and daffodils bloom and the trees begin to wake up. Summer completes the year as we hike, swim and continue to enjoy nature. With the convenience of restaurants, shopping, and movie theaters, Big Bear is an ideal vacation get away that isn't too far away.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love to sit on the porch swing on our front deck and listen to the birds and the wind in the trees. When it is cold, there is nothing like cuddling up in front of the wood burning stove sipping hot chocolate.
