Our fully remodeled luxury mountain cabin retreat with heavy interior beams and all knotty pine interior features 5 bedrooms + loft, and 3 full baths. Warm up by the fire after a full day of skiing, boating, biking or hiking, with views of the gorgeous forest. The cabin has been recently remodeled, featuring a new designer kitchen with stainless steel Viking appliances, remodeled baths, a spa room (complete with jetted flagstone tub and sauna), free WiFi, large flat screen TV's, log beds, and new Restoration Hardware bedding. Not only is this property relaxing and luxurious, it also has plenty of things to do for the kids, and the kids at heart. With a pool table, dartboard, sleds, Wii and board games, the kids will always have something to do. Just a short walk takes you to the sunny shores of Patton Beach (dog-friendly), hiking trails, kayaking, miniature golf, as well as local restaurants!
Our retreat is located 10-20 minutes from major ski resorts (Northstar, Alpine, Squaw Valley and Homewood for cross country, snowmobiling, ice skating and sledding), and several golf courses. During the summer you can also go horseback riding, waterskiing, wakeboarding, fishing, rock climbing, bicycling, snorkeling and of all things.... YOU CAN REST (You're on Lake Time now!)

We stayed at this beautifully remodeled house for 5 days. I'm a spa girl and the built in spa, complete with sauna and whirl pool became my exclusive hide out....WOW! The rest of our family were split between the game room down stairs and the family theater room upstairs. There are beautiful decks. The drive to Northstar was a cinch, and the beautiful lake is only a block away from this house. We took walks to the lake every evening. Really, everything about this place was great! I couldn't believe that it was so reasonably priced for the size and quality of this home. What a great find. Better than staying at a resort or condo complex for sure! The owner was easy to work with and very consciencious. She left a binder of information for reference at the house (which really came in handy when we had to find an emergency room for one of the kids late one night!) The beds are really comfortable and opportunity for privacy abounds. I give a 5 star to this home and the experience we shared here. We just returned from a terrific ski weekend escape to Whit's End with family where we had just a great time. This home is so welcoming and easy to relax in...WOW! After a big day on the slopes (several options within 15-20 minutes) it was so nice to have wonderful après-ski soak in the hot tub. Then after dinner we took full advantage of the amazing interactive entertainment center (which has really fun features like the BluRay player that just requires a wave of the hand to open and close the tray!). After such big ski days it was dreamy sleeping on the Tempurpedic bed - we slept like logs!. We found Kate (the owner) so easy to deal with and very attentive to our questions! We only spent 3 nights at Whit's End, next time it will be more! We had 11 adults, 2 kids and one dog. This house is amazing for a large group. So much to do! Very roomy & clean. My husband and I stayed at Whit's End the week after my birthday, along with my parents, and we all enjoyed a relaxing and truly enjoyable vacation. Not only is there more than enough room to accomodate a much larger party than ours, but there are also cozy and inviting touches throughout the house that make it feel like home. From the (drool-worthy) kitchen appliances, to the hot tub on the deck, to the sauna in the basement, we each found a favorite area to hang out and relax in. Our visit took place in September, and we loved being able to hike along the trails in the area, head down to the cute downtown for some good beer at the local brewery, and we even had an amazing sunset sailing cruise chartered by one of the nearby businesses. There is certainly plenty to keep you and your family occupied no matter what time of year! I also really appreciated that when my father left some clothes in one of the drawers, Kate (the owner) kindly sent them to him. We'll be coming back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

The house has all the technology you could imagine: DirectTV, DVD, XBOX, televisions in many rooms. The kitchen is very well stocked. The location is great with Northstar only 15 minutes away and local restaurants if you want it. The owner was very easy to work with, and we are contemplating a trip back. We would highly recommend this location to anyone considering a trip to North Lake Tahoe.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

My family really enjoyed our stay at Whit's End in August. The home is well maintained and located just a short walk from the lake. The hot tub, game room and video games were all in working order and enjoyed by everyone! The owner, Kate, was always very responsive to questions and we feel lucky to have found a vacation rental that feels like "home".Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had a amazing time. With the pool table, hot tub, sauna, deck, and kitchen, we had everything we could possibly want. The property was very clean and well maintained, and everything was of high quality. No complaints worth mentioning. Where do I even start? This place was spectacular and was everything my family could have hoped for. The location is top notch and the proximity to the lake is unbeatable for such a reasonable price. The house has recently been remodeled and very well taken care of. The owner, Kate, was responsive to any slight problems we had and they were fixed in a timely manner. We couldn't figure out the hot tub and Kate picked up the phone the first time we called her (at 9:30pm) and walked us through how to turn it on - of course it was simple - but her attentiveness was awesome and I was very impressed. The kitchen and top floor layout was great for a big group. We had chefs in the kitchen, laptops out on the kitchen table and kids playing in the living room. It was so nice. The decks at the property are super nice as well. They have a HUGE grill which was nice and the outdoor seating let us eat outside and also relax with a good book on the chaise lounges. I can't say enough about this property and we have already booked our next summer vacation with Kate at this beautiful property. We have recommended the home to numerous friends and just can't wait to come back!! Thank you Kate, for being such an attentive homeowner and loving the property as much as you do. You and your property are one of a kind. Thanks for everything! PS. The game room is such a cool feature. Try finding another home with all of the amenities and space that this place has - you'll be paying DOUBLE if not TRIPLE! This house is such a good deal - book it now and you WILL NOT be disappointed!! The details in this house were fantastic. It was incredibly clean, the towels were plentiful (helpful with the spa amenities) and the kitchen/outdoor grill were amazing. The deck space made outdoor meals and sunbathing absolutely enjoyable and we made use of the pool table as well. It's in a great location - about a 9 minute walk to the lake and to Garwoods! I will definitely be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Cancellation policy:
Rental Rules CHECK-IN TIME is AFTER 4 P.M. PST AND CHECKOUT is 11 A.M. PST. NO Early Check-in or late checkout. This is a NON SMOKING unit. AGE: One adult must be 25 years or older to rent the home. I certify that I am 25 years or older. PETS - PETS are permitted in rental unit only with prior approval. All pets must be leashed at all times. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up any/all pet refuse. Pets are not allowed on furniture at any time. Any evidence of pets on furniture may incur extra cleaning fees. All pets must be up-to-date on rabies vaccinations and all other vaccinations. Heartworm prevention is highly recommended. All pets are to be treated with Advantage or similar topical flea and tick repellent three (3) days prior to arrival. All items above are the sole responsibility of the pet owner. The cabin owners assume no responsibility for illness or injury that humans or pets may incur while on the premises. DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT - A reservation deposit of $500 is required. This must be received within five (5) days of booking the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within (14) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met. • No damage is done to unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear. • No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay. • All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in the bear box, and soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned. • Unit is left locked (both windows and doors) • All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure. • No linens are lost or damaged. • No towels are taken outside the home (except beach towels). • NO early check-in or late checkout. • Excessive noise is not reported coming from the property. • The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner), the local law enforcement, or management company. NOISE – Noise should be at a minimum after 10pm. This includes both inside and outside of the home. If the local law enforcement is called because of excessive noise, you will forfeit your deposit. PAYMENT – An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is required 60 days before arrival. The advance payment will be applied toward the rent. Please make payments via PayPal or personal checks payable to Kate Whiting. The advance payment is not a damage deposit. The BALANCE OF RENT is due thirty (30) days before your arrival date. CANCELLATIONS – A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advance payment and reservation deposit. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent. MONTHLY RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS – Monthly renters must cancel one hundred twenty (120) days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must be made at least ninety (90) days prior to check-in. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY – The maximum number of guests is limited to thirteen (13) persons. An additional charge or $20.00 per person per night for guests in addition to thirteen (13) will be assessed. MINIMUM STAY – This property requires a three (3) night minimum stay. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday periods. If a rental is taken for less than three days, the guest will be charged the three-night rate. INCLUSIVE FEES – Rates include a one-time linen & towel setup. NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE – While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. However, it is available at an additional rate. We suggest you bring beach towels. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the units. RATE CHANGES – Rates subject to change without notice. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in. WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS – Any exceptions to the above mentioned policies must be approved in writing in advance. PARKING –Vehicles are to be parked in designated parking areas only. Parking on the road is not permitted. Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner. HOT TUB – Our hot tub is maintained and serviced by a professional service that uses the CA Department of Health's guidelines. We do not have control over the mechanical performance of the hot tub and there will be no refund for an inoperable hot tub. Owners are not responsible for any negligence or accidents in the use of the hot tub. The renter and guests assume all responsibilities for self and guests in the care around any hot tub. Children are not allowed in the hot tub. Persons with heart trouble and pregnant women should avoid use. No alcohol in hot tub. Extreme care and caution must be taken. Use at your own risk! If hot tub is dirty (more than normal) when you check-out, you may be charged an extra cleaning fee. DO NOT STAND ON THE HOT TUB COVERS. Hot tub covers are for insulation purposes and are not designed to support a person or persons. They will break and you may be charged for replacement. Remember when not using the hot tub, leave cover on so hot tub will stay warm. SAUNA – No children under the age of 16 permitted in the Sauna at any time. Out of courtesy to others and for their own protection, users are required to wear a bathing suit, clothing or towel. Pregnant women should not enter the sauna without prior medical consultation. Use of sauna is not recommended for persons with high blood pressure, cardiovascular disorders or pulmonary diseases. Do not use the sauna while under the influence of any type of alcohol, drugs, anticoagulants, antihistamines, vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, stimulants, hypnotics, narcotics or tranquilizers. Users who feel faint or dizzy in the sauna should leave the sauna immediately. To prevent dehydration, drink plenty of fluids before entering and after leaving the sauna. Use at your own risk. FIREPLACE – The fireplace is a direct vent propane gas log fireplace. Please do not throw any paper or other combustible materials in the fireplace. WATER AND SEWER – DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages of up to two hundred dollars ($200). STORM POLICY/ROAD CONDITIONS – No refunds will be given for storms. Mountain roads can be curvy and steep. Roads are well maintained; however, we highly recommend four wheel drive and/or chains during the snow months. We do not refund due to road conditions. ACTS OF GOD/CONSTRUCTION NOISE - Neither Owner nor Agent shall be liable for events beyond their control which may interfere with your scheduled occupancy, including but not limited to Acts of God, acts of governmental agencies, fire, strikes, terrorism, war, inclement weather, including flooding and construction noise from nearby sites. NO REBATE OR REFUND will be offered in these circumstances. USE & TENANT DUTIES - The use of the Premises is restricted to use by you and your family unless both parties agree in writing to occupancy by a non-family group or for a special event. Owner considers you hosting a special event without owner’s prior consent or knowledge a material breach of this Agreement. In that instance, you agree to immediately pay an amount equal to the Special Event Fee in liquidated damages. You should contact owner directly for more information. A “family” as used herein means parents, grandparents, children and extended family members vacationing at the Premises. Use Of the Premises by Fraternities, Sororities or Unrelated Groups Under 24 Years of Age Is Strictly Prohibited and Lessee agrees that, in the event Owner or Agent discovers same, that ANY AND ALL FUNDS COLLECTED AS RENT will be considered LIQUIDATED DAMAGES to cover losses, expenses and damages of the Owner and Agent for Lessee taking the premises off the market. Occupancy shall not exceed the maximum number allowable by law. Please contact the owner directly for further information. You agree to comply with all obligations imposed on you by the Vacation Rental Act with respect to maintenance of the Premises, including but not limited to, the following: (a) keep the Premises as clean and safe as the conditions of the Premises permit, and cause no unsafe or unsanitary conditions in the common areas and remainder of the Premises that you use; (b) dispose of all ashes, rubbish, garbage, and other waste in a clean and safe manner; (c) keep all plumbing fixtures in the Premises or used by the Tenant as clean as their condition permits; (d) not deliberately or negligently destroy, deface, damage, or remove any part of the Premises or render inoperable the smoke detector provided by the Owner, or knowingly permit any person to do so; (e) comply with all obligations imposed upon the Tenant by current applicable building and housing codes; (f) be responsible for all damage, defacement, or removal of any property inside the Premises that is in your control unless the damage, defacement, or removal was due to ordinary wear and tear, acts of the Owner or Owner’s agent, defective products supplied or repairs authorized by the Owner, acts of third parties not invitees of the Tenant, or natural forces; and (g) notify owner in writing of the need of replacement of and/or repairs to a smoke detector, and replacing the batteries as needed during the tenancy. You agree not to use the Premises for any activity or purpose that violates any law or governmental regulation. Your breach of any duty contained in this paragraph after commencement of tenancy shall be considered material, and shall result in the termination of your tenancy with NO REFUND OF RENT. FIREWORKS OF ANY NATURE WHATSOEVER ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED. EXPEDITED EVICTION - A material breach of this Agreement by you, which, in the sole determination of the owner, results in damage to the Premises, personal injury to you or others, a breach of the peace, a nuisance to others, or a violation of law or local code, shall be grounds for termination of your tenancy. You may be evicted if you: (i) hold over in possession after your tenancy has expired; (ii) commit a material breach of any provision of this Agreement that according to its terms would result in the termination of your tenancy; (iii) fail to pay rent as required by this Agreement, or (iv) have obtained possession of the Premises by fraud or misrepresentation. INDEMNIFICATION AND HOLD HARMLESS - You agree to indemnify and save harmless the Owner for any liabilities, theft, damage, cost or expense whatsoever (including but not limited to attorneys’ fees) arising from or related to any claim or litigation which may arise out of or in connection with your use and occupancy of the Premises including but not limited to any claim or liability for personal injury, damage or theft of property or theft of property or infringement of intellectual property rights (e.g., illegally downloading video, audio or text files via any internet service located at the Premises) which is caused, made, incurred or sustained by you. PAYMENT - If you wish to use a credit card for this rental, please ask us to send you an invoice via PayPal. It’s a fast, safe, and simple way to pay with your credit card or checking account. We do require a 1.5% fee be added to your total for the use of the service. PayPal charges 3% of every transaction and we pass on half of that fee to tenants who want to use that service. All pets must be leashed at all times. 3. Guest is responsible for cleaning up any/all pet refuse. 4. Pets are not allowed on furniture at any time. Any evidence of pets on furniture may incur extra cleaning fees. 5. All pets are to be treated with a topical flea and tick repellent three (3) days prior to arrival. 6. Pet will not damage premises. If damages are caused, the cost of the damage may be deducted from security deposit. 7. Guest should prevent pets from producing excessive noise at a level that disturbs neighbors. 8. Pet will not be left unattended for an undue length of time, either indoors or out. Pet will not be left unattended on balcony, patio, or porch. 9. About the owner: We bought our home in Lake Tahoe in 2010 and immediately started renovating and remodeling the home, bringing all the luxuries of home, to the 'Cabin.' We fell in love with Lake Tahoe years ago, while renting a home near the lake for our summer vacation. While we have traveled all over the world, we've found that Lake Tahoe is one of our favorite places to be! Owning this home is our dream come true, and we look forward to sharing it with your family!

Snuggling up with a good book next to the fire with a great view of the treetops is spectacularly relaxing!
Furthermore, our home is only two blocks from the beach! In the summer time, when parking is so limited, we can walk to Patton Beach and rent kayaks or a boat. It's close to shopping, restaurants, and the world-famous Garwoods Bar & Grill. In the winter, we're about 10 minutes from Northstar-at-Tahoe, and 15 minutes from Squaw! We're also very close to Incline Village and a short 7 minute drive to Tahoe City for shopping!
