Property description

Come stay in one of Leland's truly vintage homes! Built in 1906, this cozy apartment will charm you with its classic style!

Located just one block from the bustling intersection of River Street and Main Street, it is quite literally a stone’s throw from the popular Bluebird Restaurant and Tavern as well as the Riverside Inn. It boasts clear, unobstructed views of the Leland River from nearly every room and looks down upon a large, flowering front yard. The apartment sleeps 2-3 people, with one master bedroom and a guestroom with one standard twin bed and one fold-away twin bed. The apartment is ideal for the vacationing couple or family with two children. There is one full bathroom with shower and tub, as well as a small, but functional kitchen. This is truly one of the best locations in town - a great home base for adventure!

Summer (peak season): Enjoy a day at the beach, take a sailing lesson, play golf or tennis, take a book and a picnic basket to one of the islands for a day trip, dine on the patio at a favorite restaurant, grab and ice cream cone in the harbor!

Spring / Fall: The best seasons to taste the flavors of the Peninsula! Visit many of Leelanau County's tasting rooms (do a wine tour! - Leelanau Peninsula Vinter's Association website is a great place to start!). Be sure to visit in the Fall, the season's colors are MIND BLOWING.

Winter: Settle in for a cozy day of reading and relaxation, or get out there and enjoy the snow! Cross country skiing trails are throughout the area! Downhill skiing / snowboarding just a quick trip away! Sledding at the Country Club is great way to spend the afternoon followed by a delicious dinner at the 'Bird' - Ethnic Nights are Wednesdays and Thursdays and are always tasty!

Manager info

Year Purchased: 1989

About: My name is Carolyn and I am managing this lovely home for my parents. I was born and raised in Leland, Michigan and lived in this house for nearly 10 years. I have spent several years traveling abroad, I have lived in Ann Arbor, Los Angeles and now, Austin...and I am speaking honestly when I say that Leland is still my favorite place to vacation! My husband and I are both architects. We enjoy the outdoors, wine and FOOD. My parents, the owners of this wonderful apartment, are both in the restaurant business. My father was raised in Leland and descends from a long line of Leland locals. My mother, a native Michigander, spent much of her youth in the Leland area where she eventually settled down with dad. Their dedication to the County and Leland life runs deep. We're all in love with the area!

Why Leland:
After having lived in town for 18 years and now visited as a vacationer, I am convinced that the quality of life in Leland CANNOT be beat. Our sleepy little town will keep you active and outdoors spring - fall, and will give you necessary pause and repose in the winter (though don't be fooled - there's LOTS to see in do in the snow too!!!). Leland really has it all. I miss it terribly while I am away...always looking forward to the next visit.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
This little apartment is the perfect place to stay for the family or couple looking to be in the heart of Leland activities! We lived in this house for many years while I was growing up. The location is so convenient for bicycling, popping down to Fishtown for a sandwich, walking over to the Yacht Club for sailing lessons or heading over to Van's beach for a swim. You'll enjoy wonderful views of the Leland River through old-growth maple trees and over a flowering front yard. Be sure to keep the windows open for the breeze off of Lake Michigan!
