Wintergreen is truly a four-season resort, with everything for the outdoor activity buff: skiing, golf, tennis, hiking, horseback riding and much more. What better way to enjoy this fabulous vacation venue than in a gorgeous, custom-built Lindal Cedar private home (three-years-old) in the prestigious Devil’s Knob Loop section on top of Wintergreen Mountain.
***We just installed high-speed Internet access with WiFi access throughout the house; there is also a computer with a guest account.
***WPI guest passes provide entre to all resort amenities with a 20% discount for most activities

The house boasts a great room with a 25 foot vaulted ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows, stone fireplace (gas), gas fireplace in the master bedroom suite, magnificent views from four decks, gourmet kitchen, stocked pantry(condiments, spices, various oils and vinegars,Starbucks coffee) large steam shower, eight person hot tub, and much more. The décor is granite, cedar, natural wood and stone and is furnished in a luxurious contemporary "Alpine" style. The artwork alone is extraordinary. All beds have top-of-the-line pillow-top mattresses. This is not your typical rental property! The Wintergarden Spa and Cliffhangar ski lift are a short walk, and the Devil’s Knob Golf and Tennis Center is a short drive. The property backs up to the Wintergreen Foundation Nature Center, for an unobstructed panoramic view from all sides (including an eastward-facing 70 mile view).

A detailed description is as follows: Floor plan: (four bedrooms, four full baths, one bonus room). Main floor: Master bedroom with king bed/master bath with steam shower/gas fireplace/private deck with hot tub access; second bedroom with two full beds; adjacent full bath; great room with gas fireplace, 25 foot vaulted cedar ceiling with floor to ceiling windows, stereo/cd player and 100's of CD's; fabulous granite/stainless/natural maple kitchen with stainless steel refrigerator, Thermidor combo oven, Thermidor gas range in island bar, Bosch dishwasher; oversized utility room and walk-in pantry (fully stocked with condiments, foil, ziplocs etc.); STARBUCKS COFFEE BEANS w/grinder;large deck with gas grill. Loft: king sleigh bed, full bath, private balcony. Lower level: bedroom with queen sleigh bed, VCR/Nintendo 64, PC, various board games; bonus room with two full futon couch/sofa beds, large screen TV/DVD home theater system, approximately 100 current DVD’s, full bath, deck with eight person hot tub and speakers, mini-bar, foosball table.

In addition, please feel free to use our air mattresses (one queen and one full).

  • Thank you so much for building and furnishing such an exceptional vacation home. We felt like we were in an upscale mountain lodge that was so beautifully decorated. The views were spectacular from the decks.....a great way to relax. The kitchen was well appointed with very high end appliances. The bedrooms had really comfortable beds - not always the case in rental properties. There were also lots of "extras" like a great stereo system, hot tub, internet, ceiling fans and steam shower. This is truly a great vacation spot - anytime of year.

  • The VA District of USTA decided to hold this year's senior district competition at the Wintergreen Resort. I, along with 10 of my players on the Golden Retriever team thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this absolutely gorgeous mountain retreat. Coming off the court we found the hot tub melted away any screaming muscles. It was a great place for all the gourmet foods our women created. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The layout of the house makes it conducive to all be together or have a separate quiet place if that's what anyone wanted. The decks were welcoming from different parts of the house. There was plenty of parking and it was easy access to the tennis courts, the spa and the main lodge. We actually never ate out we loved the house so much. There was absolutely everything you could think of that you might need. All of us in the pack would highly recommend it to anyone. - MB

  • January, 2007 This is the perfect Wintergreen rental. The owner is wonderful, the house is beautiful and the resort is upscale but very friendly. Our party of ten (6 adults, 2 teens, 2 kids) had lots of room with beds and bathroom space to spare. The views from the house, the porches and even the hot tub are astounding- you are on top of the ski resort with 50(?) mile visibility. The appliances and mattresses are top of the line and there is an enclosed steam shower in the master bath. The spa/health club is one block away and if you don't want to move the car, Wintergreen runs free shuttles all over the mountain every 15 minutes; we were driven right to our door after night skiing at 11 PM. If you do drive, nothing is more than a mile away from your door. Another great feature: no nickel and dime nonsense- the rates cover everything including cleaning. We've rented houses from Santa Barbara to St. John to Cornwall- this house rates with the best and the owner's hospitality is the finest we've experienced.

  • For three of the past 4 years we have used this lovely home for a family reunion. All of us have enjoyed the warmth and coziness of this spacious home. The amenities are luxurious and outstanding. We enjoy the nearby sports and spa facilities of Wintergreen during the day and return to the comfort of the Witt's place for evenings of relaxation and family fun.

  • This house was absolutely awesome. The furnishing inside were top grade and the view - none better in the Wintergreen area. Without a doubt one of the nicest/warmest places I have rented in all my travels - certainly a place I would rent again. The owners of the unit were great to work with as well.
