I really can't say enough about this rental - I went with eight girlfriends for a bachelorette getaway in the mountains - the home is GORGEOUS, the views are spectacular, the hot tub is great, we loved the kitchen, which was well-stocked and perfect for cooking/grilling our meals. It is a five minute walk from the Black Bear Cafe, which was great for morning lattes and snacks. There is so much to do nearby, including an amazing hike (Crabtree Falls) as well as horseback riding, which we did as a group at Montebello. But back to the rental - comfortable beds, great steam shower, THREE decks with amazing views...it was just perfect. Several of the girls in our group did spa treatments - the spa at Wintergreen is also very close to the cabin, and is gorgeous. The owner, Kathy, was extremely responsive to the few questions that I had for her, and was very obviously genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed our stay. If I ever have the opportunity to return to that area (my group is mostly from New England), I would love to stay here again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing.

My friend and I needed a weekend away in the mountains. I found this fabulous, spectacular home that everything and more that we would need on VRBO. We didn't need to bring anything. They even had a coffee grinder. The owners are fantastic and friendly and a lot of fun to talk to when making the arrangements and after my stay. Their home is an unbelievable home away from home, only better. It was a beautiful time of year to visit the wineries and breweries too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The views from this house are stunning. The hot tub was fun with a view overlooking the mountains. Kathy, the owner, was great to work with and the WPI guest passes saved us a lot of money. The rec room in the basement was wonderful, especially the bar area with a mini fridge. It quickly became the man cave for our group. There's only one tv in the house(in the basement), which would have been nice for the kids and adults to have their own, but we hardly watched tv. The master bed and bath are very nice, large and spacious. The loft bedroom had a comfy bed and it's own bathroom, but the openness gave no privacy and made it hard to sleep. We also didn't have any cell phone reception at all at the house(we have Verizon).Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I'm not certain where to begin. From start to finish, this beautiful, first-class, mountain getaway was all we could have asked for and more. When deciding how to spend the last weekend of the summer, I'm certain there was no better choice! At first glance you can tell how beautiful and upscale this retreat is, but what you can't see is all the attention to detail the owners have put into their home...and how memorable your time there will be. The owner is incredibly friendly and informative, answering each question we asked almost immediately! From the beautiful open concept, to the top of the line appliances and decor, to the secluded and wonderfully therapeutic hot tub, to the steam shower (that I will, without a doubt, include in the next home that I build), to the hotel-level beds and comfy robes, to the great variety of available movies and the whole home sound system, to the privacy that is like none other... it was amazing!!! I could go on and on and on!!!! Can you tell that this was a fabulous way to enjoy Labor Day...???? We will, without question be back there during ski season to experience a weekend in the winter. Guess I should stop writing such nice things before I book for the winter months, or I'll never get availability!! :) Only a 30 minute drive from the downtown outdoor mall of Charlottesville...and surrounded by local vineyards, if you feel the need to explore the area, it is ideal. If your idea of a great weekend is also coupled with the ability to cook multiple delicious meals, with a fully stocked kitchen, this is the place for you! We chose to do both...and I assure you, it was not a disappointment Bottom line...if you manage to have anything less than a great time here, only you are to blame!!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a place I dream of returning to over and over again. At the top of the mountain, with an unending view of the valley, glorious morning sunrises, and luxury accommodations, there's nothing more to ask for. The loft bedrooms are especially gorgeous, but all the rooms have beds that are inviting and difficult to leave, were it not for the beauty that awaits on the deck and nearby walking paths. As a music buff, I appreciated the sound system which delivers everywhere, including on the deck, if you like. The hot tub is magnificent and has a view as well! The granite-countered kitchen is well-equipped, and the dining area lovely. I'd recommend it highly to anyone and everyone. You won't be disappointed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a beautiful house with very responsive owners. Plenty of room with 4 full bathrooms make it ideal for multi-families or larger groups. The floor to ceiling windows, bonus room, and higher end kitchen add to the value of the home tremendously. One of the better homes avaiable in Wintergreen for the price. Some specifics: 1. The owners are very nice and hospitable, and clearly want you to enjoy your stay. We had a couple minor issues, and when we called she immediately arranged to take care of the problems. On one, a maintenance man arrived 10 minutes after we called her and fixed the problem immediately. 2. There is no Air Conditioning. This should be considered before a summer rental. While the temps in Wintergreen are about 10 degrees cooler than in the valley, it still gets up to the mid 80s during the day. The house is well insulated, so once it heats up it is tough to cool it down. But even on the hottest days, with windows open and the fans going we were able to cool the house to the mid to upper 70s, it just took some work. The back of the house overlooks the road, so with the windows open at night you hear a lot of car traffic. Lack of AC was not an issue on the cooler nights, and one night we had to close the windows because it was too cool. We probably would have used the AC every day during the day, and 2 of the 4 nights. This should not be an issue 9 of the 12 months of the year. 3. The hot tub was fantastic. 4. The beds are very comfortable. The main master bedroom is great. Something to consider is that one of the two "master" bedrooms is a loft overlooking the main living area. While the bed and views from the loft are amazing, you have no privacy. With two families, the choice for the second adults is either the loft, or a tiny bedroom on the first floor with a queen bed and no private bathroom. 5. The kitchen was great, and is stocked with everything you need for all your cooking. 6. The bonus room was fun and we had many great foozball battles. There is no home theater system or game console, but there is a big screen TV, DVD player, and extensive DVD collection. 7. The views in the summer are not great, due to tree overgrowth. It is still pretty, but not the same views you get from condos on the ridge or some other homes. Once the leaves are gone, though, the views are surely fantastic. Overall, a great stay. The price is great for what you get. We'd stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you so much for building and furnishing such an exceptional vacation home. We felt like we were in an upscale mountain lodge that was so beautifully decorated. The views were spectacular from the decks.....a great way to relax. The kitchen was well appointed with very high end appliances. The bedrooms had really comfortable beds - not always the case in rental properties. There were also lots of "extras" like a great stereo system, hot tub, internet, ceiling fans and steam shower. This is truly a great vacation spot - anytime of year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The VA District of USTA decided to hold this year's senior district competition at the Wintergreen Resort. I, along with 10 of my players on the Golden Retriever team thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this absolutely gorgeous mountain retreat. Coming off the court we found the hot tub melted away any screaming muscles. It was a great place for all the gourmet foods our women created. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The layout of the house makes it conducive to all be together or have a separate quiet place if that's what anyone wanted. The decks were welcoming from different parts of the house. There was plenty of parking and it was easy access to the tennis courts, the spa and the main lodge. We actually never ate out we loved the house so much. There was absolutely everything you could think of that you might need. All of us in the pack would highly recommend it to anyone. - MBDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

January, 2007 This is the perfect Wintergreen rental. The owner is wonderful, the house is beautiful and the resort is upscale but very friendly. Our party of ten (6 adults, 2 teens, 2 kids) had lots of room with beds and bathroom space to spare. The views from the house, the porches and even the hot tub are astounding- you are on top of the ski resort with 50(?) mile visibility. The appliances and mattresses are top of the line and there is an enclosed steam shower in the master bath. The spa/health club is one block away and if you don't want to move the car, Wintergreen runs free shuttles all over the mountain every 15 minutes; we were driven right to our door after night skiing at 11 PM. If you do drive, nothing is more than a mile away from your door. Another great feature: no nickel and dime nonsense- the rates cover everything including cleaning. We've rented houses from Santa Barbara to St. John to Cornwall- this house rates with the best and the owner's hospitality is the finest we've experienced.Did you find this review helpful? For three of the past 4 years we have used this lovely home for a family reunion. All of us have enjoyed the warmth and coziness of this spacious home. The amenities are luxurious and outstanding. We enjoy the nearby sports and spa facilities of Wintergreen during the day and return to the comfort of the Witt's place for evenings of relaxation and family fun.Did you find this review helpful? This house was absolutely awesome. The furnishing inside were top grade and the view - none better in the Wintergreen area. Without a doubt one of the nicest/warmest places I have rented in all my travels - certainly a place I would rent again. The owners of the unit were great to work with as well.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
