Our organic family farm is nestled in the heart of Trout Lake Valley. Bordered by the White Salmon River, Trout Creek, and expansive fields, our homestead is a place to breath deeply and gaze across the land to Mt. Adams. The 1918 Craftsman farmhouse feels nearly untouched by time. Enjoy the spacious kitchen, formal dinning room, extensive library, four bedrooms, and two baths. There are also horse shoe pits, an 18 hole disk golf course, and fire pit (when use is permitted by the forest service.)

Begin your day by sipping coffee on the wrap around porches. An abundance of experiences can fill your days in and around the Trout Lake Valley, regardless of the season. Extraordinary wilderness areas of forests, rivers, waterfalls, and caves surround 12,276’ Mount Adams. Whether it is by raft or cross-country skis, there is seemingly endless exploration. The many natural expanses to discover include the Mt. Adams Wilderness Area, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Klickitat River Canyon, and Conboy National Wildlife Refuge.

After you are rejuvenated by the natural beauty of Trout Lake, explore the Columbia Gorge. Excellent restaurants, cute boutiques, movie theatres, and, of course, windsurfing and kiteboarding can be found in Hood River. Further East, Maryhill Museum and many wineries can be enjoyed.

When the sun is setting, bathing Mt. Adams in pink, throw supper on the grill. If you are lucky, deer may be enjoying their own meal in the fields. After dark, wander over to the outdoor fire pit to star gaze and talk into the night. We truly enjoy sharing our homestead and hope guests connect with traditional American agriculture and the surrounding wilderness through it.

* This is a family farm and with that authenticity comes equipment and staff. The farmhouse is buffered by gardens, and lawns, though you will hear and see the beehive like activity. Our hope is that guests appreciate connecting with food and herb production. We also share the disc golf course with respectful community members, but it is several hundred feet away from the farmhouse along the shores of the rivers.

We had an outstanding stay. Genevieve is a marvelous host and the farm is perfect. The house is beautifully quaint (in a good way), very comfortable in all respects. I would change nothing.

We chose this house for a Fall mom-away weekend. It was a wonderful, amazing setting for the six of us to recharge our batteries, talk, walk and make apple butter! The home was extraordinary in it's furnishings, kitchen amenities, lines and the little touches that it was clear were added for our stay. We enjoyed the quietness of the farm and were even visited by a herd of elk that spent time in the field near the kitchen window. The owner was very available and hospitable. Thanks for a great weekend at Trout Lake Farm!

This house is a gem. You can tell from the photos that it's a wonderful Craftsman farmhouse with jaw-dropping views, but there's more to it than that. Everywhere you look, there are little treasures: period artwork from the Northwest, great antiques, and even re-purposed farm implements. It's a real treat to wake up to the sound of the river and sip your coffee while looking out over the fields at Mt. Adams. Yes, it's a working farm, but I didn't find that disruptive at all: you see a pickup truck every now and then, and we saw some geese doing organic pest control, but it's a very peaceful place. I stayed here for a family reunion in August 2012, and the house is a perfect place to decompress. The owners are friendly and responsive, and right close by, too. I've been coming to the Trout Lake Valley since I was a kid 'cause I have family here, so I know the area well. It's full of great places to hike... the Trout Lake Ranger Station has lots of recommendations. Ice Caves and Natural Bridges are great for kids and anyone who wants a stroll in a pretty place. The Indian Heaven wilderness is beautiful, but bring your mosquito repellent. Sleeping Beauty is a 1.5 mile hike with a 20% grade (oof!) but you're rewarded with a 360-degree view that includes Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier. But whatever you do, don't miss the stargazing here. The Trout Lake Valley is a great place to watch the night sky 'cause it's so far from any city, but out at the farmhouse there's a great view and very little ambient light. So grab a blanket, sit out by the fire pit, and see who spots the most shooting stars. It's idyllic.

This is a perfect location for groups! We had an excellent time in this charming, well-loved, beautiful house. Waking up to the stunning view of Mt. Adams was the perfect way to start each day. The property was large and there was plenty of room for relaxing and playing in the yard around the home. Great country get-away in which the stress of City life can take a hike. Really fantastic.

We had a great time at this rental. The house is beautiful, the surroundings were lovely, and we had plenty to do in the area. There were 8 of us and we fit comfortably; the kitchen was great for cooking as a group and sitting around the table for meals. The property owner was also very helpful and just down the driveway so we always felt like if we needed something we could just holler.

The views of Mt. Adams from nearly every room in the house, plus the porches and yards, are worth the trip alone. The hosts are extremely gracious and helpful and the house itself is filled with amazing old artifacts and art and all that. Comfortable beds. Close to White Salmon and all kinds of activities. I'd go back anytime!

We loved this beautiful and comfortable craftsman farmhouse with a stunning view of Mt Adams. When we arrived there was enough snow to ski out the front door on a local loop that traverses several farm fields. The next day an easy drive took us to a wonderful 6 mile ski up to a collapsed lava tube called Natural Bridges (of course it was a bluebird day with perfect spring conditions, which always helps). The stove though older was a wonderful professional grade gas range and this is one of the only rentals I have ever stayed in that had good pots and pans (including cast iron...no flaky nonstick Teflon here). Lots of games to play, an amazing library. All the beds are doubles so maybe best for couples or friends who don't mind sharing if you truly want to sleep 8. Beds were excellent, with great mattresses and nice linens. Our only complaints were that the oven did not work (though we were amply warned and prepared for this) and there was no dishwasher detergent, so we did all our dishes by hand. Great place, good price, and far from the madding crowds of Hood. If you love the Mt Adams area I highly recommend this rental. In summer there might be some equipment noise when the farm is up and running, but in late winter this is a quiet and lovely place to be. Because of all the farm implements that are close at hand, I would hesitate to bring small children to this rental.

Owner response: I'm so glad you enjoyed our farmhouse and the valley. It was so gorgeous yesterday and I am glad that you took the opportunity to explore the Natural Bridges area. We hope to see you next year, when the oven is fixed and I won't forget to stock detergent! Also, thanks so much for the pristine condition you left the kitchen in.

About the owner: My brother and I were fortunate to grow up in this home. However, neither my siblings nor I can make use of such a large house built for a traditional agricultural family. The farmhouse is kept as a beloved gathering place and repository for our family history. My brother is following in our father's foot steps, farming the land. I live in a cabin on the property and am only a walk away if guests should need anything.

Why the Owner Chose Trout Lake:
You can choose to embrace the peace and privacy in the farmhouse and along the shores of the rivers or feel part of the hustle and bustle of farming. This is an authentic picture of Northwest farm life. The home is exactly as we love to enjoy it, filled with art, quality cookware, and antique furnishings. This home remains a cherished family corner stone, not a stripped down rental with the bare necessities.
