I went up to govy with high expectations. The house had been the subject of many conversations before we finally made it to stay. We (me, my wife, her mom and boyfriend) were mostly excited about the hot tub and games. We are the kind of family that likes to bring our own food and just "move in" when we go on vacation. This was absolutely not a problem. The house was totally stocked with everything you need to feel at home. Before bed every night we would play cribbage, stream pandora from our phone and get into some pretty competitive shuffleboard games. The sleep was amazing in the king sized bed, however the heated bathroom floors was probably the biggest treat. We actually planned our next trip up there before we even left. All of this and we never even made it to the hot tub. All in all, not only can I not wait to say up there again, I have been checking if they happen to have another rental property in Hawaii or somewhere else! A beautiful place, fun, relaxing atmosphere.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The day of the planned trip, three of our party came down with the noro-virus. Fortunately, Jason, the owner suggests in his contract to consider travel insurance. I had never purchased travel insurance in the past and was reluctant to do so this time, however I did. The amount I paid for the travel insurance was minimal compared to the cost of the trip. After leaving the doctor's office, I contacted Jason who immediately refunded the security and cleaning deposits. I then contacted CSA travel insurance and provided them with the proof of cancelation, and within four to five weeks I recevied a full refund for the remaining balance of the trip. I won't go without travel insurance again and I thank Jason for the recommendation and assistance in obtaining my full refund.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We have rented several houses over the years with friends. This property was the best appointed property that we have seen. Picture it, you have a beautiful bottle of wine you go to the kitchen get the glasses and all you can think is I wish these were nicer. Or I wish they had martini glasses, this place had anything you needed in the kitchen. There was not a pot, pan or measuring cup that you could not find. The beds were comfortable and king size. The furniture was nice and your surroundings comfortable. What a great place to come back to after a day of skiing. Hot tub for the body aches with a warm fireplace.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family meets for a spring ski trip in Government Camp each year. We have several adults and several kids aged 10-14. This is the perfect house for our group. It's well appointed and comfortable. There is enough space in the beautiful living/dining area for everyone to hang out together for dinner, and better yet there's a rec room downstairs for the kids to have a separate spot to hang out if they want to stay up late. It's a short walk to the main drag in Government Camp, and the kids were delighted to be just two blocks from the huge burritos at the Taco Shoppe for lunch. The beds are amazingly comfortable and we appreciated having three rooms with king beds in them where the adults could get some privacy. We also found that the hot tub is a perfect spot to soothe tired muscles after a ski. Everyone on the trip agreed this was the best house we had ever stayed in.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

All I can say is wow! Six couples stayed at the house for my husband’s 40th birthday and everything was absolutely perfect. It would have been fun to count how many times, over the weekend, one of us said how great the house was. We have stayed in countless rentals and it was obvious that this one was built and furnished with the guests’ comfort in mind. It held our group very comfortably. We enjoyed sitting around the fireplaces, playing darts and shuffleboard and sledding down the streets. It was an easy walk into town for food and drinks (Charlie's and Ratskellar were both good). Possibly the only downside was the bed was more comfortable than mine at home, making leaving very difficult. We can't wait to go again, great weekend!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The house is beautiful, cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the tools I needed to make dinner for a large group. The beds were so cozy it was hard to get up in the morning. The house in large enough to have space and not feel crowded. I felt pampered with the big thick towels and heated floors in the bathrooms, but still felt like I could relax. I highly recommend this rental.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a fantastic time in this house - we were able to comfortably sleep 12 people. The house is very well equipped and has everything you could want: a grill, well appointed kitchen, hot tub, games, TV's, iPod docking stations, etc. We found it to be a great value for the money. I would absolutely rent the house again and would highly recommend it to others.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This place really is great... the location is fantastic, view is awesome, very comfortable with plenty of room for our large group, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds... I could go on, but it has everything you would want or need, we have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals and this is one of the best.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We've rented this house two years in a row for staff retreats, and like it very much. The house is right in Gov't Camp, a nice town pretty near to Portland, and very close to Timberline, Ski Bowl, and great XC and snowshoe trails. The kitchen is great, and is stocked with nice, big pots, decent knives, and lots of misc. tools you'd hope to have on hand, but might not expect to actually be there. The hottub is on a small deck in back, and looks out onto a pretty treed area. Nice automatic fireplaces and very plush sofas. Plenty of private areas, but also a nice big kitchen/living/dining complex where all 13 of you can hang out together. The owner is a pleasure to deal with. I'm sure we'll be back again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

This is the perfect place to stay in Govt. Camp. It meets all the big requirements with ease. Location is great - a very short walk to town, yet the view from within the house is woodsy and snowy and there is room between houses. Fabulous layout with comfy living spaces, large bedrooms and a great kitchen and dining space that flows into the living room. The kitchen is so well-equipped that I think it's better than my own! In addition to everything you could possibly need to prepare meals, there was a nice surprise of some spices and seasonings available and a pantry to store all the food you bring. The hot tub is also in a good location on a deck over-looking the back of the property with lots of trees, very peaceful. And if you want to do any sledding there is a great hill behind the house that is off-street. But it's the extra details that really made this home stand out as a deluxe place to vacation. The house is pretty new and all of the finishes are beautiful and tastefully done with a luxury cabin feel. Beautiful wood floors, granite counters, pine cabinets and fun local artwork. The tile floors are even heated, including the entry which is really nice for drying and warming boots and mittens. The two gas fireplaces are great and really put off some heat. The entertainment systems (yes, there are two tv areas!) have a lot to offer and are the latest technology - no trouble plugging in your own device to play music- plus there is even shuffleboard! A fun game pretty much anyone can play. With all that there are also some board games and we enjoyed an old fashioned round of Monopoly. A final thought is that the owner was very easy to work with in planning the stay and made himself available throughout the stay if any questions arose. He actually seemed genuinely pleased to be able to share their wonderful vacation home with others. Everyone in our group loved this place and we wished we had planned a longer stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: Our family of 4 lives in Vancouver, WA and has lived in the Pacific NW for 12 years and loves it here. We have lived in most regions of the US and find the Pacific NW has so much more to offer relative to outdoor recreation that is in close proximity to your primary residence. Between kids sports, hunting, fishing, boating, surfing, wake boarding, skiing (snow and water) we keep very busy outdoors!
Why the Owner Chose Government Camp:
We chose to purchase the property in Government Camp because we fell in love with the town and the close proximity to the ski resorts. The location of the home allows us to walk a short distance into Govy to enjoy all it has to offer. In all seasons our location is tough to beat. As a family we primarily use the property during ski season. It is so nice to hit Meadows or Timberline in the morning and early afternoon, come back to the house and relax and then hit Ski Bowl (particularly the Warming Hut) in the evening. With a great sledding hill just behind the house our kids (and sometimes adults) spend hours sledding down the hill. The home truly provides an escape that takes us around an hour to get to from our home in Vancouver, WA.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
Brand new home that has very nice amenities throughout. The home was designed to hold a larger group (max 13), but is also suitable for smaller groups as well. With two entertainment areas, two decks, super comfortable beds, large hot tub and a large common area this house is just plane luxurious and fun. The fact that it is a short walk into Govy makes it all the much better. We love it and based on the past years feedback so do our guests!
