Live the sea-faring charm of Martha's Vineyard in this stately 4 bedroom Sea Captain's home. We include round-trip ferry "cruise" passage for one auto and family. (Actually this ship's crossing from mainland to island is a great adventure in itself!).
Centrally located in one of Martha's Vineyard's quaint villages, this graceful home was chosen by members of the White House staff during President Clinton's 'Summer White House' years. (Also nearby is President Obama's vacation retreat! - approx. 7 driveways down from this home)
The Sea Captain's home features an elegant curved staircase in the foyer and a "secret" back staircase leading from the kitchen to the master suite. There are 4 spacious bedrooms with air conditioning, desks and sitting areas, and 10 large rooms in total. There is a grand piano for your enjoyment in the music room as well as wireless (Wifi) internet service throughout the house. The living room has digital cable TV with a wide choice of shows, movies, music and a DVD player. Adjoining the living room is a separate dining room and also a fully-equipped, charming country kitchen.
Relax on the veranda, or grill out on the rear terrace. (Terrace includes new wrought aluminum dining set). Is it your turn to make dinner? Just walk a few steps to the famous Vineyard Farmer's Market offering a smorgasbord of fresh produce and herbs plucked right from the garden, as well as a variety of baked goods, cut flowers and unique island culinary delights.

We come to the Vineyard with our families every summer, and, by far, your home has been the most hospitable and enjoyable. We loved the location as well. Many adventures around the towns and jumping waves. In the evenings the kids relaxed in the yard catching fireflies. My daughter loved getting up early to sit on the porch under the roses while reading and watching the birds. We would love to rent again in the future!

The Sea Captain's home is located near two of Martha's Vineyard's most exquisite beaches which require a special permit available when you rent. Relax at Lambert's Cove Beach (on north side of island has calm water with a beautiful vista overlooking Vineyard Sound to Cape Cod) or Long Point South Beach (on south side of island, has ocean surf, osprey and other native wildlife to view, and a bonus shallow freshwater pond perfect for your lap swimming or for the children to go wading and paddling).
Walk to village art galleries, island library and shops. Use our comfortable bicycles to explore the appealing network of island cycling paths from our door, past the Mill Pond through the State Forest. Visit charming Alley's General Store (an island institution, with the amazingly accurate logo "Dealers in Almost Everything" from penny candy to the hottest beach gear.). Stroll down quaint "Music Street" at sunset and revel in the large variety of fine restaurants and nightlife only minutes away in the "down island" or "up-island" towns.
