The Vineyard Perch is a tastefully decorated home that is at once both large (6400 sq. ft.) and cozy. Strategically placed on a stunning perch overlooking the vineyards of the Alexander Valley and the hillsides of Sonoma, the home is reminiscent of a country estate and comes complete with all the amenities to make your vacation getaway special. With the seasonal creek that runs through the property and feeds into the Russian River, the 8-acre parcel and its surrounding area couldn't be more perfect. 90 miles north of San Francisco and just 10 miles from Healdsburg's square, the Perch is located in the best part of Sonoma County in a little town called Geyserville. Surrounded by beautiful, serene mountain views, you are able to enjoy an escape that includes all manner of nature, including bald eagles / hawks / osprey circling overhead, horses in neighboring pastures, and foxes and wild turkeys traversing the property.
The house itself is special as it was designed and built by a local architect who lived in the house with his family for 30 years. He thought of everything ... and it shows. There are 2 master suites and 3 other large bedrooms. The kitchen is a chef's dream and may have the best views on the property. The sunken family room is large, cozy and strategically located next to the kitchen for easy entertaining. The living room / dining room area is a beautiful open space that highlights the panoramic views overlooking the Alexander valley and the pool area. And, the entire house is set up for indoor - outdoor living with french doors leading from the dining room, living room, pool and main level master bedroom right out to the back patio and pool area.
And, there is plenty of space to get away.
If you ever decide to leave the comfort of the Perch, there is something for everyone to do.
- For the wine aficionado there are an unbelievable number of great wineries within 10-12 miles that touch on all aspects: great boutique wineries (Robert Young, Hawkes), fun wineries (Meeker, Francis Ford Coppola, Unti), Zin'o'philes (Rafanelli, Ridge, Pasalaqua, Bella), Cab fans (Silver Oak, Hanna, Lancaster), Pinot (Ferrari Carano, Dutcher Crossing, Michel Schlumber), and Chardonnay (Stonestreet, Ferrari Carano, Quivera).
- For the foodies, there are all types in the spectrum from the casual to the fine dining: Dry Creek Kitchen, John Ash on the formal side, to some of our local favorites including Catelli's and Diavola in town (Geyserville), and Rustic on campus at Francis Ford Coppola.
- For the active / outdoor members of your group, we are adjacent to miles of hiking, biking, horseback riding paths, and all types of boating at Lake Sonoma.
This special property is conveniently located off highway 101 and yet feels as though it is a world away.

We visited with 3 other couples after a conference in San Francisco and I can't speak highly enough about the experience. From the moment you walk in the door you feel the warmth and comfort of the home. The interior decor is impeccable with all the comforts of home. Plenty of space so that if some folks wanted to read or watch TV, there are places to do both. In fact, the home has what I would consider 3 living rooms as well as a pool room - bonus!! On top of it all, the kitchen is a cook's dream. The bedrooms are all extremely comfortable and another bonus is there are two master bedrooms. And did I mention a pool with a view that is to die for - amazing sunsets! It is the perfect place to make your home base when touring Sonoma. Don't miss this gem.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This is one of those places your walk in and say "Wow"! We were five couples celebrating our respective anniversaries, and found exactly what we were looking for. The home was warm, welcoming, and beautifully appointed. I loved there were plenty of private spaces and also plenty of room for gathering as a group. The owner was excellent to work with: All communication was timely, accurate and informative; very helpful in recommending places to go and things to see; and added a lot of personal touches. We made a number of days trips on Segways, zip-lines, horseback riding, wine tasting, and great restaurants. In the end we all agreed, if we had to do it all over we would have spent more time hanging around the house to enjoy the views.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Four couples stayed here and had a great experience. The house is huge with plenty of room and nice decor. The deck and the view of the valley below were awesome. We cooked dinners in just so we could enjoy the place instead of going out. The Owners were very easy to work with and accomodating. Highly recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family of 9 came here to celebrate my 70th birthday and I couldn't have asked for more. The house is charming and so comfortable. I felt like I was staying in my best friends home. The kitchen had better supplies then I have at home! We have travel all over the world and this has to be one of the most comfortable homes we have rented. We stayed a week and found that the house was so well equipped that we could not have wanted anything else. The lake reminded us of our days growning up in the mid-west and between the pool and Iake, I think there were days that our bodies were wet more than they were dry...The house is designed and located to keep you busy with activies, such as the pool, hiking, lake, wine country, casino or just kicking back and listening to music at the pool and the enjoying the view. When it got hot outside, the house was still cool and never found a need for the air conditioner For a couple of days, my kids commuted back and forth to work in San Francisco and found the drive was not bad... Lisa was so helpful and really cared to make our stay enjoyable and went out of her way in so many ways. If someone is looking for a beautiful home, in a beautiful setting with all the comforts of home.......this is the place.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This home was if anything better and more beautiful than the listing. Magnificent views and very luxurious facilities. Exceptionally clean and well cared for. Very friendly and personal service by the owner, even meeting us there on our arrival to give us a walk through of the home, This home is quite unique for one so large, in that it feels like your at home in every room, very warm and inviting. Truly an outstanding few days. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for elegance and luxury.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Few things are ever perfect and not all VRBO properties match expectations, so it is particularly pleasant to find one which is and does. We had our annual three-generation family get-together here. 12 people in all. and it was one of the best such experiences we have had from the standpoint of accommodation and amenities. The property is superbly designed, has been expertly refurbished, is immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean. It is a truly five-star place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We rented this property with two families with adult children in their twenties, and wanted somewhere that was both exquisite and comfortable at the same time, provided spacious and "easy" living, and somewhere that we were thrilled to spend time without needing to go anywhere. Well, this property exceeded all our expectations. The vistas from every window and in particular the gorgeous pool area were spectacular, and the sunsets lounging in the pool unsurpassed. We have been to Tuscany and the south of France and the location and views made us feel like we were in Europe again. The owners were amazingly gracious, and provided us fantastic tips on small wineries to visit that we would never have found otherwise and were the highlight of our trip. The house was so amazing, that we often preferred just to stay at the house together and swim in the pool and watch the world go by and grill steaks and drink wine at home! The location of the house was also perfect -- 5 minutes from Geyserville, 15 minutes from Healdsburg, and dozens and dozens of fantastic vineyards within a 15 minute drive. Yet at the same time, we felt that we were living in our own private European oasis. The highest compliment was from my 4 twenty-something children who told us that we had set the bar so high for family vacations they do not know how we can possible top it. And frankly, I think I agree. Having travelled many places in the world, and stayed at many top-tier hotel properties, I can tell you if I could replicate this house anywhere else, I would rent it in a heartbeat. If you are travelling with families and want to be together, you cannot obtain the feeling we had in this house and how at home you are made to feel by the wonderful owners when they welcome you and show you around. If you cannot make it to Europe for vacation, then this is the house for you. We went with ten adults (aged 23-60) and the house was perfect, spacious, familiar and yet a truly different luxurious location all at once. You cannot do better.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My girlfriends planned a weekend away for me before my wedding. What a magical spot to enjoy quality time away with all my best friends. The house is amazing - Lisa and her husband did a great job with the remodel - all the furniture and decorations are brand new and immaculate. We layed out by the pool, we went on a long walk, we spent some time at the Vineyard Club basking in the sunshine. On Saturday night the girls hired a chef to come in and make us all dinner. No one had to shop, cook, clean....we sat outside with champagne and enjoyed the views and the sunset while nibbling on appetizers prepared by our cook. Not a bad way to do it - and so much cheaper than going out to dinner for a large group, when you factor in wine, etc. We all loved our stay and Lisa was so accommodating I decided to rent the house again during the weekend of our wedding - which was at the Vineyard Club Lake. We stayed there with two other couples - it was so great to have a relaxing, spacious and beautiful spot to get ready before the wedding with my family. The men then came over for photos before the ceremony - was a great gathering spot. Looking forward to celebrating some anniversaries at this house in the coming years.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

About the owner: We are a family that love the outdoors. We love getting away to the Perch and hiking, bike riding or swimming We love to cook and entertain, which means we have stocked the house with all our favorite kitchen tools, decorated the house with tasteful appointments, and we love to have friends / family join us on our getaways. Also, we enjoy exploring the local restaurants, which has yielded some new favorites like Catelli's (absolutely amazing Italian food) and Diavola (crazy good pizza and salumi).
Why the Owner Chose Geyserville:
Like many kids from San Francisco, from the time I was born, the Russian River has always a special get-away for me, as I grew up visiting my grandparents at a cabin that became the family vacation home. We chose Geyserville as it is an easy drive from San Francisco, has amazing weather, and is surrounded by a ton of things to do for the adults and the family. Long known as a destination for road-bikers, the rest of us are just now catching on to the beauty, serenity, and wealth of active alternatives in the area. And, who wouldn't like all the great wineries in the area?
