Wonderful place to stay!
Wonderful place to stay!
We spent a few days around the 4th of July in the condo for our wedding anniversary. As soon as we walked through the door we felt at home! Barb had it decorated for the 4th of July and we fell in love. It is VERY clean and well kept, and very welcoming. The pictures you see here are spot on. Perfect place for a couple to get away from it all. The pool area is beautiful with all the tropical plants/trees. You are just steps away from the amazing beach and soft white sand. The condo contains everything you need including kitchen items to cook and eat. You're just a short drive or even a walk to John's Pass where we were able to rent a boat and visit Shell Island. The Middle Grounds restaurant on the island is a great place to eat. And, if you really want to treat yourself to an excellent meal, we went to the Maritana Grille at the Don CeSar hotel in St. Pete's Beach. Just a short drive but the food is unbelievable! It's a little pricey, but we had the 6 course meal. It was for our anniversary dinner and was well worth the price! Even though it rained 4th of July night, the fireworks were beautiful right on the beach. I've already recommended the condo to friends and family, and we plan on making future trips back. Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing stay!

Owner response: Dear Pamela, Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful review and thank you for referring your friends and family. I’m happy to hear that you and your husband enjoyed our beach condo. There is something unique about the place that makes people feel relaxed and “at home”. We felt the same way the first time we saw the property. I’m glad you mentioned the nearby boat rental in John’s Pass. I hope you got to see some dolphins. Speaking of fine restaurants… Middle Grounds Grill is also a favorite of ours. (My husband has never taken me to the Don Cesar, but I will start dropping some hints!) Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! I look forward to hearing from you in the future. Sincerely, Barb
Overall this was a very cute small place perfect for 2 maybe 3 people. There were a few issues that we had, for one the blinds in the living room looking out to the beach have absolutely no privacy. At night if you have a light on, the people in the condos next door can see right through the blinds so hopefully that is something that the owners can look into. Also the ice machine is located in the Rec room which closes at 5pm and is closed all day Sunday?? We didn't realize this so we did not have any ice the first night. Other than those 2 issues though we had a great trip with wonderful weather! I would definately stay again I just hope the owners can address those two issues. Thank you for the place and hopefully we will come back again next year :)

Owner response: Dear Justin, Thank you for your kind review. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay and plan to return again next year. In the meantime, I will look for a more substantial window covering for our gulf-view window. It's a nine foot span, so perhaps we should go with a vertical blind instead. In response to your comment about the ice machine, I have posted the leisure room hours on the refrigerator door and I placed some extra ice cube trays in the freezer as a back-up. Tropic Terrace is seeing tremendous growth with the addition of our new swimming pool and the increasing number of attractions in John's Pass. On your next visit, you will see even more improvements. Have a wonderful summer and come visit us again soon. Sincerely, Barbara Walch
We really enjoyed our stay at Tropic Terrace. Every one was very friendly, the grounds, pool and complex very well maintained. Great location, walking distance to Johns Pass. Our unit was a good size for a couple , the bathroom a bit tight, but most important clean. Will be returning next year.

Owner response: Dear Joanne, Thank you for reviewing our property. We appreciate all the nice things you wrote about Tropic Terrace. We're glad you will be returning next year. As you mentioned, being within walking distance to John's Pass is a real asset to our condo. There are so many great restaurants and attractions just a short walk down the street or you can stroll the beach to get there. This November 2013, a new aquarium, "Secrets of the Sea" will be opening in John's Pass. You can check it out on your next visit. In the meantime, all the best!! Barb and Dan Walch

It was an honor to have a member of the military as our guest. Wishing you and your family peace and happiness in the new year! Sincerely, Barbara

This condo was just the right size for me and my husband and the location could not have been better. We walked one mile one direction to John's Pass with endless shopping and activites and one mile the other direction for groceries to cook in the unit.

About the owner: My husband and I are both teachers. We moved here from Buffalo, NY after someone gave us an ice scraper that read 'teach at the beach'. In 1999, we attended The Great Florida Teach-In and stayed on Treasure Island during our visit. We fell in love with Treasure Island and the St. Petersburg area. We love water sports, especially kayaking, and we grew tired of paddling around ice on Lake Erie and Ontario. We moved to Florida so we could enjoy the water all year round. We have two children. Our daughter, Betsy, is a professional musician and is completing a graduate degree. Our son , Danny, is in 4th grade and plays Little League baseball and soccer . Our condo offers something for both of our children. Betsy enjoys thawing out on the beach during semester breaks and Danny loves playing in the surf, building sand castles and flying kites. We still have family and friends in Western New York and we often return there for holidays and family reunions. We miss our family, but not the snow shovels and ice scrapers.
Why the Owner Chose Treasure Island:
We bought our condo on Treasure Island so that our relatives and friends would have a beautiful place to stay when they came to visit us. The condo is only ten minutes from our permanent residence on the mainland side of Boca Ciega Bay. We feel that our condo is located on the nicest stretch of beach in Pinellas County. It is a wide beach with white sand. Palm trees adorn the dunes and seabirds are plentiful. The swimming is ideal with a sandy bottom that slopes gradually. Swimmers, young and old, enjoy walking out to the sandbar offshore. With John Pass nearby, you see dolphin cruises, tour boats and pleasure boats coming and going through the pass. What a wonderful place to have a digital camera! Everything is so beautiful you want to capture the images for keeps. You'll feel like a professional photographer...
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
The best thing about staying at Tropic Terrace is 'staying' there. While the location is convenient to many attractions, my favorite thing to do at Tropic Terrace is to just stay put and soak up the scenery. The sea birds are beautiful and the people on the beach are fun and friendly. Just yesterday a man was flying over the beach in an ultralight parasail. It was a colorful sight. The week before, there was a kite festival with hundreds of kites flying overhead. Most folks agree that sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico are spectacular and with the dunes and palms on Treasure Island the sunset is especially appealing. My family loves having a marshmallow roast around the charcoal grill in the evening after sunset. And when you feel like hitting the town, the condo is within walking distance to John's Pass Village Shoppes and Restaurants. There is a beach trolley running up and down Gulf Blvd if you need a lift or hop in the car and you'll be there in 5 minutes or less--depending on whether the bridge is up at John's Pass. (That bridge itself is an engineering marvel.) On patriotic holidays, you will have a front row seat to a fantastic firework display on the beach. Beach concerts often end with fireworks as well. You can enjoy the concerts from a distance. Tropic Terrace is on the quiet end of Treasure Island, but if you are looking for more excitement, it's just a short walk down the beach trail. We have a very unique new Publix grocery store nearby with an excellent selection of fine food. Many meal items are already prepared for your convenience and enjoyment.
