Brightwood house description

BOULDER CREEK RETREATS is a wonderful place to come & spend time with your family, friends or just the '2 of you' :) It has recently been remodeled & furnished, practically everything is NEW!!! Our spacious, comfortable home sleeps 6 people, has three bedrooms, two baths, a very relaxing living room, separate dining area, large kitchen (purposely oversupplied), and an extra Bonus room upstairs - it's great for those who want to watch something different, play games, read a book quietly, work on a puzzle or take a simple nap. PRIVACY ? NOT A PROBLEM, the property reclines on one acre, high up in the mountains, surrounded by an outstanding view of the Cascade Mountain range, full of greenery, trees and wildlife. At times, you can listen to our seasonal creek as it runs by.

This home truly has a 'Welcoming Way' of its own. As you enter through its French doors, it feels like you will want to stay FOREVER. *We always have it ready for you* Day or night, the lighting is perfect, the stereo is on softly or the TV, whichever you prefer and your greeted with the warmth of a fire. Special requests are encouraged & if it's in our power, we will do it!

Before I begin the verbal tour of this awesome home. I must say the wrap around decks add quite the tone for your excursion. They allow you to view a variety of panoramic views, from sun rays peeking through the forest, to open landscaping with decorative trees, lawn and a quaint creek rolling by, to the towering mountains above. The front part of the porch area is covered, so no matter what the weather, guess what, we have you covered. (No pun intended) So go ahead and get that latte, have a little sip and look out and say to yourself 'WOW, this is unbelievable!' The deck includes an 6 man Hot Tub with lounging chairs all around, plus there is a BBQ gas grill just in case :)

Main Floor:
*Living Room has very substantial viewing windows and the 3 couches accommodate your ease of enjoying the life of the forest. The home fires from the wood stove provide an appealing atmosphere and we aim to provide as much wood as it takes to keep that happening. DSL Internet works day & night, as long as you can keep your eyes open! We also wall mounted the 40' Satellite TV so everyone could see! The 120 channel choices will make it interesting for those TV controllers? if you know what I mean :) But that's OK because we have more than one TV. There is a DVD / VHS player with lots of Free VHS movies to watch and if you want to unplug, wind down and just be still for awhile, turn on the compact CD Stereo player with your favorite music or the AM/FM.

*Kitchen is off of the Living Room for easy access. Get my point :) Those little late night snacks are calling! We know from experience that the kitchen area is large enough for 2 cooks to wheel away at their gourmet meals. It is well supplied with kitchenware and cookware including coffee, tea and customary spices, just in case they were left behind. For your convenience there is a storage shelves for all your non-refrigerated items.

*Laundry Room is next to the kitchen with washer, dryer and hamper. So if you get dirty, don't worry. There are windows viewing the front lawn, foliage and decorative trees with a door leading outside to the side yard and creek.

*Bathroom is off of living & dining room areas next to the master bedroom, very convenient. It is very well lit for those morning make overs and included are toiletries, quality thick towels of various sizes and of course a tub & shower combo.

*Dining Room is perfect for 6 people, lots of elbow room! The dining table is quite unusual, it has a glass table top with marble stands. You will be sure to enjoy each other, as you share in the goodies prepared for you. The window view is of the peaceful forest, with the sun rays glimmering through,as only they can.

*Master Bedroom is a rather substantial suite off with a King size ultra-comfortable bed, the finest linen, heating blanket for those really cold nights and a warm comforter. Also furnished with chests of drawers, night stand with good lighting - just for that novel you've been meaning to finish & an oversized closet, trust me, there will be room. You do have accessibility to a semi-private deck that sits around the corner from the spa. The view is exquisite! The country side 'shows off' with the majestic mountains as its back drop.

Upstairs:
*Bonus Room has a double size Futon, pillows and throw blanket to watch the 27' TV placed in cabinet with drawers for clothing. A DVD-VHS player sits above. Come on 'Lets play' There's free VHS movies from a selection of 105, an abundant supply of adult & children's games, plus puzzles galore.

*2nd Bedroom is exactly like the master bedroom, same furnishings, except it has Queen size bed instead.

*Bathroom is set between the bedrooms. Fantastic lighting with a sky light. Plenty of toiletries & towels. It has a nice shower.

*3rd Bedroom has day bed with trundle and a night stand.

'All in All' it's a short drive to ski resorts, adventure park, hiking trails, the rivers, restaurants, shopping and evening entertainment.

Our family had a wonderful stay in this beautiful place which is close to everything but feels secluded! The home was very clean and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed meeting the owners and appreciated having them nearby, helpful, and available to answer questions. They gave us directions to nearby hiking trails and information on area activities including ski lessons for the kids. The kitchen had everything we needed for preparing meals and the owner even brought us an extra griddle for making pancakes! At the time we rented the house, the dryer didn't turn off automatically which was a bit inconvenient.

The property was everything they said it was. Clean, beautiful with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The view was lovely and a warm fire was ready when we arrived. We had a very nice time.

The property is absolutely gorgeous and was the perfect spot to take my friends for mushroom hunting for the weekend! The home is spacious and while it has 3 bedrooms, theres also a spare futon. They have a wall full of games and VHS's (when was the last time you watched one of those!?) and the owner of the house is happy to show you how the woodfire stove works. Was so cozy and cute and the view into the woods is hard to beat. Also has a fabulous hot tub, deck and backyard!

This was a very nice place to come and relax. The king size bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of wood for the wood stove. The house was clean and fresh. The TV DVD set was a bit tricky as we could not get the remotes to work the way we were use to. It could have used some wine glasses, but we had brought our own. There is a quarry above the house so you can hear the big dump trucks coming down the road, but once we figured it out we had no problem with it. The big gas barbeque was very nice to use. It has a hot tub but we did not use it. We enjoyed the deck nice deck though. The owner was very helpful and was ready to do anything to make sure we had a great time. All the photos were what attracted me to the place and they were accurate. The yard is steeper than it looks on the photos. But that is a hard thing to take a picture of. We would recommend this place for a nice getaway to a friend or relative.

This was my first time renting a private home rather than staying at a hotel, and I must say that my stay here surpassed all expectations. The house itself is lovely, extremely comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The host make sure that everything is just perfect, from the roaring fire that awaited me when I arrived, to the fresh pears from her own tree, to the abundant information about the locale, places to hike (not only ideas of where to go, but also map-sheets for each hike that you can take with you. I stayed in the first night, only venturing out to the grocery store and enjoying the gas barbecue on the front porch. Then, I spent the evening on the comfortable couches, watching old movies on the large flat panel TV. The master bedroom, which is on the ground floor, has a VERY comfortable king sized bed, a large closet, and a sliding door out to the patio. From EVERY window, you have wonderful forest views--my favorite thing! I spent the next day sightseeing, since it was raining a bit too much to hike. Check out the Timberline Lodge (ski area, and also the exterior location where the Shining was filmed), as well as the drive to Hood River (there are orchards and fruit stands along the way), where you can check out some of the amazing microbreweries (I recommend both Double Mountain and Full Sail). My third day, the weather cleared enough for me to take advantage of some of the wonderful hiking trails--Trillium Lake Loop, Little Crater Lake (unbelievably clear, deep water), and a bit of the Pacific Crest Trail. There are also quite a few very good restaurants in the "Villages of Mt. Hood." Every single thing about my vacation in this wonderful Brightwood home was perfect....I cannot wait to return!

We cannot recommend this Brightwood home enough. We recently took our parents for a PNW get away and were fortunate enough to stay here. The location is ideal as a home base as we were able to visit the coast, Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, the Williamette Valley and of course the Mt. Hood area. Every night we looked forward to returning "home"! The home is perfectly sized and very warm and inviting. What really made our trip, however, was the small touches that the hostess adds such as all the information you need on local hikes, little notes for how to use amenities in the home, and a general willingness to do anything to make your trip more enjoyable. The home is very private and every day we saw a doe and her fawn come out to eat underneath the pear tree. We had a fantastic vacation, in large part due to enjoying our stay at this home so very much. Now we will be too spoiled to ever rent a condo!

This is a great and wonderful place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors! This is a beautiful home, well equipped with the basics, and very blessed to have hosts that have put a lot of care and attention not only in the home, but for the comfort of the guests! We enjoyed the nice and very roomy house! We had a view of the trees and foothills, and enjoyed the hot tub very much! This place is well cared for, and is only about 16 miles from Mount Hood. Many beautiful places to go to and see in the surrounding area! The beautiful home and awesome hospitality we received, were well worth the price and the trip! We were blessed to be here!

On behalf of all of us, I want to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at your rental house. The tranquility of the site made a long weekend seem like a much longer vacation, and it gave our family the privacy we wanted for our visit. Belinda and I made all the decisions - where to go and stay - in response to my sister's request that we all get together for a hiking vacation to celebrate her birthday; our decisions delighted everyone. The house, furnishings, and surroundings were all you promised. Belinda felt the porch was even larger and more lovely than she expected from the photos - we could all sit there, close together yet facing the view. Perfect! It was very sweet of you to share your blackberries with us. When Belinda was six, and her father was working in Africa, we took a trip from DC to Quebec; one very hot day in Vermont we stopped to stay in a tiny motel where the proprietor greeted guests with punch made with local berries. She took Belinda out on the hillside to pick berries, while I relaxed; your berries brought that wonderful memory back to us both! We look forward to returning to Brightwood someday

Arrived in Portland two days before our check-in at the house and spent it driving up 101 at the coast staying in Depoe bay and Florence! Drove up route 5 from Eugene and the Oregon University Track! When we arrived in Brightwood the house was everything we anticipated and more. Thank you Carol for seeing to every detail so the stay was relaxing and stress free. We settled in and ran to the grocery for staples, a 5 minute jaunt up the road to Welches. The Hot Tub was a perfect way to relax after dinner and driving all day. The house sits comfortably back a private road with no neighbors except the owners that are farther back the lane. Carol has lots of information in the home for hikes and dining and whatever you may be interested in in the area. We love nature and hiking so the note books were great. We hiked the bonanza trail the first day and then drove around mount hood and visited wineries in hood river and the Bonneville dam and then were rested enough to hike to Ramona falls and also hiked to several lakes. Our children flew in and joined us the second week and we spent another day at the coast and cannon beach. Hiked Ramona falls again and then up the Yocum trail to timberline! This was our favorite hike. The wild flowers were in bloom and there were miles of meadow flowers that we hiked through on the side of the mountain. We saw the start of the river coming out from under the glacier and falling under another patch of snow and reemerging farther down the mountain. There was a day trip to Washington and Mt St Helen it was unbelievable. Lost Creek was very nice for picnicking. and wild wood was the perfect place for strolls and viewing hundreds of salamanders, We really enjoyed our time in Oregon and it was great to pack a lunch go out hiking for the day, come back relax and play cards chill in the hot tub and fix a home cooked family meal. Oh our second day I discovered wild black berries growing along Lolo Pass road. And we gathered wild blueberries in the huckleberry wilderness. Everything was perfect. It even was chilly enough to have a fire a couple of evenings. Thanks so much to the Davies for making it so comfortable and clean and welcoming. It felt like coming home every time we returned to the house! The only suggestion I would have would be to have staples like flour sugar baking powder etc... For those of us that like to cook! Other than that it was the perfect vacation. Thank you.
