Juniper Vista is located on an acre of land in the desirable Cima Norte (North Hills) district of Santa Fe. The historic plaza is an easy one-mile walk downhill from the house. We provide 2,800 square feet of gracious living on two levels. There are three separate sleeping areas: an Upstairs Master Suite, a Downstairs Master Suite and a third downstairs bedroom. Each has its own full bath. Both Master Suites have their own kiva fireplaces and sitting areas.
The main floor of the house has a sunken living room with a kiva fireplace and a 48' HDTV, a fully equipped kitchen, and a formal dining area. Adjacent to the dining area is a breakfast alcove for informal meals. The two dining areas share a kiva fireplace. The alcove has french doors that open to the patio and the private enclosed gardens. The Upstairs Master Suite has a private deck with spectacular views to the East, South, and West.
Santa Fe is situated at an altitude of 7,000 feet on the side of the Rio Grande valley. To the east are the Sangre de Cristo mountains rising to over 13,000 feet. To the south are the Ortiz Mountains, the Galisteo Basin, and Sandia Peak which overlooks Albuquerque. To the West one can view the Jemez Mountains which rise to over 12,000 feet. The house has a wonderful 300 degree view of these mountain ranges from the deck off the Upstairs Master Suite. All of Santa Fe's museums, the Canyon Road galleries, and the Santa Fe Opera are within 5-10 minutes drive of the house. The Santa Fe Ski Basin is 17 miles to the east. Taos is 75 miles north. There are many activities for all nearby including fine dining in world class restaurants, visiting the areas many museums, shopping and gallery hopping, and exploration of the area's Hispanic and Native American heritage.
In summer Santa Fe temperatures range from the mid 80's and low 90's during the day to the upper 50's and 60's at night with very low humidity. The weather is almost always sunny with an occasional thunderstorm in late summer. This is a perfect climate to enjoy both the private walled garden with its birds, fountain, and sculptures, and the spectacular views from the upper level. In winter Santa Fe's climate has cold nights in the teen's and 20's alternating with dry sunny days in the 40's and 50's.

This was the perfect vacation rental for the family to celebrate my father's 70th birthday and Sharon was so helpful in providing recommendations for restaurants and really great tips for Santa Fe. The home is so comfortable and spacious. Each room has its own bathroom and the views are really amazing. There is a lot of great outdoor space. The kitchen is great too and equipped with everything you need. Was really charmed by Santa Fe and staying here was definitely part of it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much, Chitra. We love our home and it's always a pleasure when others love it, too. So glad you had such a good time!

We had such a wonderful time at this home. It was really magical. There was so much space, teh entire upstairs was a master suite and then there was another master bedroom downstairs along with another bedroom. Everyone had their own bathroom, the kitchen was amazing and the house could not have been in a better location. It was up on a hill with a lot of privacy and a beautiful garden. The views were phenomenal from the deck upstairs and it was so close to EVERYTHING. The plaza was five minutes away, any restaurant you might want, the grocery, starbucks all 5 minutes away even though you feel like your're in your own private paradise. Skiing was also very very close. I don't have one complaint or request for improvement. It was amazing and we had a wonderful xmas. I would stay here a thousand times and recommend it to anyone looking to have an amazing Santa Fe vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We rented the beautiful Casa de Arboles for a family reunion in July 2012 (visiting with family living in Santa Fe). We all (ages 7 to 77) loved it there-- not only because of the beautiful panoramic views, the feeling of privacy atop the hill, and the easy walking distance to downtown, but also because of the warmth of the house, the quiet bedrooms, the open kitchen and welcoming living room, and the magnificent bird garden. We kept the feeders full and spent hours relaxing in the garden watching the birds (saw over 15 species). We were truly on vacation in that lovely home! We've rented houses from coast to coast and this was definitely one of the best ever! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home. We hope to come back again!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We rented Casa de Arboles for a week to prepare for our daughter’s wedding that took place in Santa Fe on August 18. The house and the setting could not have been better. The house is listed as having three bedrooms, but it has essentially three bedroom suites, each with its own dedicated bathroom. The most spectacular was the upstairs suite with a walk-in closet, wonderful master bathroom with an open shower and a huge Jacuzzi bathtub, and an outdoor deck that looked over the lights of Santa Fe and from where we watched beautiful sunsets and distant lightening storms. The house has a well-equipped kitchen, an elegant dining room with a table that could probably sit twelve, and sunken living room for visiting the friends and family that stopped by after events during the week (such as the Santa Fe Opera which is only about fifteen minutes away). The most restful space is the outdoor patio that is just off the dining room and where we sat and drank our morning coffee, recapping the previous day’s events, and planning the day. The only thing to add is that Sharon was a wonderful host. She even called on the day of the wedding to ask if there was anything she could do. I asked for no rain that afternoon and she arranged that too. I do have one caveat. While the house perfectly situated, a five minute drive from parking around the Plaza, beware of using your GPS especially on your iPhone. Those systems take you up a back road in which you seemingly make a dozen turns, some onto one lane dirt roads, before you get to the house. Instead, simply turn north on to Old Taos Highway from Paseo de Peralta and reach the house by making two well marked left turns.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We've discovered a great part of Santa Fe - the North Hills. This getaway is so close to town, (we drove down the hill instead of walked to town) yet so quiet and private. The bedrooms are spacious and the cool night air perfect for sound sleeping. We loved making great meals in the well-equipped kitchen, and eating around the glass & wood dining table or at the fun, blue card table or outside on the patio. Our only problem was how to work the TVs (we were there during the London Olympics). Our daughter figured out the living room TV but not the master bedroom one. We'd happily recommend the place to others.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1989
About the owner: We are a semi-retired couple who split their lives between the hectic excitement of New York City and the peace and beauty of our home in Santa Fe.
Why the Owner Chose North Hills:
Santa Fe has been the capitol of New Mexico for over 400 years. It has a rich tradition of superb food, art, music, and native american and hispanic culture. We also love the climate and the mountains.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We adore our private garden with its multitude of birds, trees, and flowers. The views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular. And all this is only 5 minutes from the Historic Plaza of downtown Santa Fe.
