We arrived in Paradise to find a home perfect for our needs. Plenty of space for four couples to find both privacy and a great space for all of us to gather. We had breakfast daily on the front lanai, grilled most nights by the pool, and had plenty of kitchen space to come up with great meals. Located two blocks toward the ocean from the Queen's Highway, and several blocks inland from Alii Drive, we were able to easily access good roads while having quiet evenings. The home was generously furnished with linens, basic supplies, even beach toys. Our 10 days flew by as we did whale watches, parasailing, trips to the volcano, horseback riding, riding the flumes in the north and of course playing some bridge.

We had a large group staying in this house, and the accommodations were very spacious and clean. All of the facilities, including within the kitchen and bathroom and the washer and dryer, were fully functional and well maintained. There was plenty of seating for a big group, including a beautiful lanai that served as the perfect spot to drink delicious Hawaiian coffee in the mornings and to watch the sunset into the ocean in the evenings. I would highly recommend this property to friends and family visiting the Big Island. The house has a lovely pool area with a grill for evenings in, and is an easy drive to many local restaurants, beaches and attractions. We can't wait to return to our home away from home!

My husband and I found it necessary to cancel our booking due to unexpected circumstances. we found Bruce to be the most courteous and understanding person. Throughout our dealings, Bruce was most helpful in assisting us from the beginning. He sent us photos, provided information about local places of interest and assured us that should we need to cancel our deposit would be refunded, which he did promptly. WOW!! Bruce, it was FABULOUS! We couldn't have asked for more in a vacation home - and I mean to use the word "home", rather than "house". We had a group of 3 couples, 4 individuals, and 1 child who practically lived in the pool the whole time we were there. The kitchen was amazing, the only dinner we ever ate out was when we went to the luau our last night there! The bedrooms were nicely appointed, the living area was so comfortable and large enough for us all to relax together (there was also plenty of space for privacy and solitude!) The front lanai was a wonderful place to get some shade and relax, read, or watch the sunset, and the pool deck was our favorite place to hang out! I highly recommend your home to groups large and small, looking for easy accessibility to the tourist aspects of Kona, but with all of the benefits of an easy and peaceful place to escape the hustle and bustle. I can't stop thinking about how wonderful our trip was! As I said before, it was the best vacation I've had in ages - and I vacation often! I am very impatiently looking forward to our trip next year! Mahalo mahalo mahalo!

Loved Everything about Komohana!

I thought Komohana was an Awesome place to stay! We decided to stay at the house to have a private weekend wedding celebration with our immediate family members and our children. When we viewed this house online it had all the amenities and enough beds for everyone in our family. Plus, we had seen that Ironman Triathletes rented this place together when they came down so we knew for sure that it was probably big enough for all of us. I work in the vacation rental industry and we prefer to stay in vacation home rentals versus full service hotels because of the convenience of your own kitchen and the feel of a home away from home. You save your money to splurge on special dinners or those high priced adventure tours you absolutely must do while you're on the Big Island. This house had everything we needed including games/toys for children, a pool with pool/beach toys to use, 2 gas grills, a full kitchen with pantry, washer/dryer, wii console, and wifi connection. It's air conditioned too, but we're from Hawaii so we rarely used it. We were close enough to stores, restaurants, and beaches so we didn't miss out on anything. The sunset views from this house are an added special that came with it too. There's even a basketball hoop outside which my daughter loved. I completely recommend this house to families and for couples retreats. We had rented the expansion level too, but just the Main Level alone has 4 bedrooms so it would be great for smaller families or couples as well. This is one of the best kept secrets in vacation rentals on the Big Island in Kona. It was well worth it for me and my family and I will most likely be back to Komohana again!

Cancled Vacation

Our Family made plans to rent this house and we had to sadly cancel. I called the owner and he was very understanding and said he would get our refund back to us promptly... and he did. I only marked my review as good (4stars) because I didn't even get to go, but the owner was great to us, by helping me make plans for 16 people to stay at his home and he also gave me exact directions and helpful tips on being there. I hope if we reschedule..... he'll still take my phone call. I do plan on staying there some day.

Bruce, this review is long overdue, and we sincerely apologize. Our stay, (5/16/10 - 5/28/10) was an absolute perfect experience. Your home is beautiful, wonderful, and more than we had expected. The pictures on your web site only give a person a 2D view. Until one walks in and experiences the 3D view, along with the right from the first step through the door "At Home" feeling, you can't realize how perfect and beautiful it really is. Everything you told us over the phone was as it was, so thank you very much for being so honest. With 20 people ranging in age from 1 years old to 78 years old, it had something for all of of them, they could mingle or get away from all the goings on. Our stay on the Big Island was so great, that within a week we were looking for reasons why we should not pick up roots, and move here. Well, it happened, we moved here in just under two months after we left. We currently reside in Waikoloa Hi. For all those who read this review, and like us, would like to have that perfect family reunion/vacation, the Komohana House would be a perfect choice to make your plans at. a fantastic holiday stay

We had a fantastic time during our week at this fabulous house. The property developer was extremely helpful on arrival and not only gave us info on the house, but also tips on where to eat. The property owner was also fantastic, answering any questions I had and going above and beyond in customer service!! The house is beautiful with amazing ocean views from the lanai, the sunsets were particularly stunning. The master bedroom is enormous with a bathroom any girl will envy. There is a large common area where the whole family could congregate and a great kitchen and 2 BBQs to make meals. The house is well equipped with items ranging from pool supplies to a chocolate fondue. There is also plenty of cooking equipment. We had such an amazing time at this holiday home and can highly recommend it to others. We had our wedding reception there and it was a great night. Our party consisted of 12 people, from both sides of the family and the house provided a great space for us to come together, but also plenty of room for time alone. All in all, a truly fantastic deal!!
