Our group of 17 adults and a 2 year old couldn't have been happier with the accommodations at Komohana. There was more than enough space throughout the house and outside sitting areas to let everyone have their own space. The property description was spot on. The property was very clean and well maintained. Bruce provided outstanding customer service and kept communication lines open throughout the entire process and was very quick to respond to any questions I had. We had a large group staying in this house, and the accommodations were very spacious and clean. All of the facilities, including within the kitchen and bathroom and the washer and dryer, were fully functional and well maintained. There was plenty of seating for a big group, including a beautiful lanai that served as the perfect spot to drink delicious Hawaiian coffee in the mornings and to watch the sunset into the ocean in the evenings. I would highly recommend this property to friends and family visiting the Big Island. The house has a lovely pool area with a grill for evenings in, and is an easy drive to many local restaurants, beaches and attractions. We can't wait to return to our home away from home!

We arrived in Paradise to find a home perfect for our needs. Plenty of space for four couples to find both privacy and a great space for all of us to gather. We had breakfast daily on the front lanai, grilled most nights by the pool, and had plenty of kitchen space to come up with great meals. Located two blocks toward the ocean from the Queen's Highway, and several blocks inland from Alii Drive, we were able to easily access good roads while having quiet evenings. The home was generously furnished with linens, basic supplies, even beach toys. Our 10 days flew by as we did whale watches, parasailing, trips to the volcano, horseback riding, riding the flumes in the north and of course playing some bridge.

My husband and I found it necessary to cancel our booking due to unexpected circumstances. we found Bruce to be the most courteous and understanding person. Throughout our dealings, Bruce was most helpful in assisting us from the beginning. He sent us photos, provided information about local places of interest and assured us that should we need to cancel our deposit would be refunded, which he did promptly. WOW!! Bruce, it was FABULOUS! We couldn't have asked for more in a vacation home - and I mean to use the word "home", rather than "house". We had a group of 3 couples, 4 individuals, and 1 child who practically lived in the pool the whole time we were there. The kitchen was amazing, the only dinner we ever ate out was when we went to the luau our last night there! The bedrooms were nicely appointed, the living area was so comfortable and large enough for us all to relax together (there was also plenty of space for privacy and solitude!) The front lanai was a wonderful place to get some shade and relax, read, or watch the sunset, and the pool deck was our favorite place to hang out! I highly recommend your home to groups large and small, looking for easy accessibility to the tourist aspects of Kona, but with all of the benefits of an easy and peaceful place to escape the hustle and bustle. I can't stop thinking about how wonderful our trip was! As I said before, it was the best vacation I've had in ages - and I vacation often! I thought Komohana was an Awesome place to stay! We decided to stay at the house to have a private weekend wedding celebration with our immediate family members and our children. When we viewed this house online it had all the amenities and enough beds for everyone in our family. Plus, we had seen that Ironman Triathletes rented this place together when they came down so we knew for sure that it was probably big enough for all of us. I work in the vacation rental industry and we prefer to stay in vacation home rentals versus full service hotels because of the convenience of your own kitchen and the feel of a home away from home. You save your money to splurge on special dinners or those high priced adventure tours you absolutely must do while you're on the Big Island. This house had everything we needed including games/toys for children, a pool with pool/beach toys to use, 2 gas grills, a full kitchen with pantry, washer/dryer, wii console, and wifi connection. It's air conditioned too, but we're from Hawaii so we rarely used it. We were close enough to stores, restaurants, and beaches so we didn't miss out on anything. The sunset views from this house are an added special that came with it too. There's even a basketball hoop outside which my daughter loved. I completely recommend this house to families and for couples retreats. We had rented the expansion level too, but just the Main Level alone has 4 bedrooms so it would be great for smaller families or couples as well. This is one of the best kept secrets in vacation rentals on the Big Island in Kona. It was well worth it for me and my family and I will most likely be back to Komohana again!

Our Family made plans to rent this house and we had to sadly cancel. I called the owner and he was very understanding and said he would get our refund back to us promptly... and he did. I only marked my review as good (4stars) because I didn't even get to go, but the owner was great to us, by helping me make plans for 16 people to stay at his home and he also gave me exact directions and helpful tips on being there. I hope if we reschedule..... he'll still take my phone call. I do plan on staying there some day.

We had a fantastic time during our week at this fabulous house. The property developer was extremely helpful on arrival and not only gave us info on the house, but also tips on where to eat. The property owner was also fantastic, answering any questions I had and going above and beyond in customer service!! The house is beautiful with amazing ocean views from the lanai, the sunsets were particularly stunning. The master bedroom is enormous with a bathroom any girl will envy. There is a large common area where the whole family could congregate and a great kitchen and 2 BBQs to make meals. The house is well equipped with items ranging from pool supplies to a chocolate fondue. There is also plenty of cooking equipment. We had such an amazing time at this holiday home and can highly recommend it to others. We had our wedding reception there and it was a great night. Our party consisted of 12 people, from both sides of the family and the house provided a great space for us to come together, but also plenty of room for time alone. All in all, a truly fantastic deal!!

Bruce, this review is long overdue, and we sincerely apologize. Our stay, (5/16/10 - 5/28/10) was an absolute perfect experience. Your home is beautiful, wonderful, and more than we had expected. The pictures on your web site only give a person a 2D view. Until one walks in and experiences the 3D view, along with the right from the first step through the door "At Home" feeling, you can't realize how perfect and beautiful it really is. Everything you told us over the phone was as it was, so thank you very much for being so honest. With 20 people ranging in age from 1 years old to 78 years old, it had something for all of of them, they could mingle or get away from all the goings on. Our stay on the Big Island was so great, that within a week we were looking for reasons why we should not pick up roots, and move here. Well, it happened, we moved here in just under two months after we left. We currently reside in Waikoloa Hi. For all those who read this review, and like us, would like to have that perfect family reunion/vacation, the Komohana House would be a perfect choice to make your plans at. This is the only way to do Kona. Spectacular home with every amenity and then some. I was greeted by the property managers when I arrived, who were awesome. They showed me where everything was located how to work the AC, TV's etc. and the house was spotless. Within the first day I found my way to Starbucks, Target, Walmart, Safeway and the pier where most of the boats go out from, all within a 10 minute drive. After being on a boat swimming with dolphins all morning or at the beach or a long day of touring the island, it was always nice to come back take a swim in the pool and take a nap in the airconditioning. If you have children there are enough boogie boards, snorkels, beach shoes, coolers and noodles for everyone. You don't get that at a hotel! And Walmart and Target are geared for the islands so you can pickup anything you forgot. I would HIGHLY recommend swimming with the wild dolphins (I went out 5 times with them). While you might not ever want to leave this retreat, I would highly recommend driving around the island as well. While I went there for the ocean, it was truly a surprise to see every type of ecosystem on the planet, every 5 minutes the scenery would change, truly spectacular! Most of all it was nice to return home and sit on the lanai with a glass of wine and watch the sunset on the ocean.

We really loved the house and were very happy with the service. The house was clean and the management is very helpful. It was very nice having so many things there already at the house like snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc. We left a spear for fishing there too so have a blast with that. We hope to go back in a couple of years with our kids as they would have a blast in the large house and pool! We caught a very rare spear fish while deep sea fishing and swam with the dolphins in a couple of bays south of Kailua Kona. The snorkeling in these bays is to die for and we have done it in a lot of areas. Huggos is the best restaurant we have ever ate at in our life. The Mahi Mahi was so scrumptious. One more tip: pick up the book "Big Island Revealed." It tells you EVERYTHING! There was one at the house but as I understand sometimes people take it with them when they leave, Naughty! I cannot say enough about our 2 week stay at the Komohana house. The location was easy to find from the airport, on the corner lot and was exactly as listing stated and then some. It was very clean, layout was perfect for our family of 14. We occupied both the main and lower levels, which had all the amenities you would expect in a private home. We all enjoyed the pool, especially the kids, with all the pool toys already available. The remodeled kitchen was enjoyed by all the "cooks" in the family. The bedrooms were located ideally so that we were able to escape for some private time, if needed. All had TV's and fans. The Great Room (living room) was our main get-together time with the karoke, big TV, IPOD, WII and other games. Beach, COSTCO and main stores were conveniently located near by. All in all, this will not be our last time there. Cannot say enough about the cooperation and assistance of both the property owner and manager in Kona. We will return and we highly recommend this as the "only" way to go on a wonderful, relaxing and convenient vacation.

We recently spent 9 days at Komohana and it was fabulous! Usually we stay in an moderately upscale hotel or condo, but after staying here . . . we're totally spoiled. The best part . . . probably the huge lanai on the front of the house that has a n amazing panaromic view of the Pacific Ocean, where we'd eat every meal and watch fishing boats and cruise ships go by and be cooled by the tradewinds. . .or maybe the very private pool where we'd hop in to cool off or sun bath on an air mattress . . or the beautifully remodeled kitchen that's HUGE or the great location where we'd walk every morning to the beach and along Alii Drive and stop at the Farmers Market for fresh fruit. And did I mention how much fun we had with the Karoki? The house has four bedrooms upstairs and each one is very comfortable and nicely furnished and then there's the whole downstairs with even more beds and a bathroom. And for those of us who just can't leave work or our laptops at home . . . the wireless worked great! :-) The house is in perfect condition and looks like something from a magazine -- we had so much fun pretending we actually lived there! The house is just minutes (literally) from Kona shopping including Wal-Mart, Target, Ross and fast food as well as the fun shops and resturants along Alii. If you're looking for a relaxing and memorable place to stay in Kona -- Komohana has it all! Highly recommend it!

My whole family enjoyed every minute of the house. The kids especially loved, loved, loved the pool and all the toys that came with it. We can't wait to have another opportunity to stay there again. We also cooked up a storm in the kitchen and was very thankful that it is right by the pool area so that we could watch the kids swim while we cooked. Even if we already live on the island it was still a treat for us to stay in this big, beautiful home. We'd like to thank Bruce and his family for allowing us to stay at the Komohana home as it was quite a blessing to my family and I. Plenty Mahalo from our family to yours. First of all I would like to thank Bruce for opening his home for my family. I am from the island and needed to find a place for my family that has traveled in from the mainland. I have searched all over for vacation rentals from condos to homes. I went back and forth weighing my options from bedding, swimming pool, kitchen supplies and activites for kids so they won't get bored. I cannot believe how stock the home is. When you do stay in this home you would be amazed. Most of all, your home is centrally located to shopping, dining and beaches. I highly recommend your home for any family and friends travelling to get away. My family loved that they could be with eachother and catch up with lost times. At the end of that trip it was a sad moment for everyone to say their goodbyes. You would need to experience it to believe it. Thank you again Bruce!!!

My sons basketball team stayed at Komohana House while we were in Kona from Oahu for a basketball tournament. The house was BEAUTIFUL! The check in was easy, the property managers were awesome, the location was perfect. The accomodations were amazing! our kids didn't know where to start between the pool, the video games, the basketball hoop, the loved it all! Our son David and his fiancee Chantelle decided to get marry in beautiful Kona. We had to find a place to stay with family and friends coming from California and Texas. Fortunately we found your house and were able to use it not only to host or visitors visitors, but also to host the wedding reception. Our week in the house was very enjoyable and comfortable. We had everything we needed, the house was clean and in perfect condition. Bruce provided good costumer service and took care of our every need. The house is perfectly located near attractions, supermarkets, stores and beautiful beach areas. The wedding reception was a success. One hundred guest enjoyed the house amenities and the yard. We found the property on VRBO.com, listings of vacation rentals by owner. Finding room for 14 people anywhere is tough, but the property description was exactly what we were looking for, and turned out to be 100% accurate. The video was especially helpful in our decision-making. The location (3 mi S of Kailua, 10 mi S of the airport) was better than we had hoped, and the instructions from the owner on getting there, checking in an checking out, were great. As B&B owners, my wife and I are a little picky, but Komohana exceeded our expectations in every way. It was clean, there were more amenities than we expected, the owner's rep was terrifically helpful in all respects, and the price is RIGHT. We had 5 from Australia and 9 from CA, and I unconditionally recommend this property to anyone. One of the advantages is the ability to cook for yourselves, because the restaurants are a little pricey. We did everything (swimming with the mantas, golf, kayaking, plantation tours, history, shopping, sightseeing to Hilo and Kilauea) and loved it all. Believe me, you'll love it, too.

House was lovely , spacious and comfortable. KITCHEN TO BE REMODELED AND THEN IT WILL BE FANTASTIC. Not having the lower level connect inside the house was a deterrent but manageable.

A bunch of us flew to Kona from around the country for a wedding and couldn't believe our luck when we walked in the front door! The living room was HUGE and the newly remodeled kitchen was perfectly situatated in between the common areas and the pool, and the view was unbelieveable. Everyone had a comfortable bed, clean sheets, and lots of room to roam without stepping on anyones toes. You really don't have to bring anything to this home, especially if you are coming with kids. There are floaties and beach balls for the pool, boogie boards and snorkels for the ocean, and ping pong and bocce ball if you're looking for something to do around the house. I think that if the Olympics didn't start at the end of the week, we never would have even turned the t.v. on! Two of the best features about the house, though, were the location (a few minutes to downtown, a short drive to Costco, Wal Mat, Longs, & Safeway) and dealing with the owner, Bruce. He's is very easy to deal, super nice, and goes out of his way to make sure everything is perfect so you don't have to. I highly, highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone with a group of 10 or more. I just don't think it can be beat!

We stayed in this beautiful home for 2 weeks over the New Year's holiday. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The home easily accomodates large groups. We had breakfast on the lanai every morning and would spot whales out in the ocean (binoculars were provided). The yard surrounding the house is very well maintained and beautiful with lots of grass, flowers, and trees. BBQ dinners around the pool in the evenings were also a highlight. The pool is very clean and well maintained. The home is well equipped with lawn chairs, tables and umbrellas so you can enjoy time around the swimming pool. Each day we would head off to the beach and use the beach chairs, coolers, and snorkle equipment that was provided with the house rental. Towels and beach bags were also available at the house. I would highly recommend this home to families or large parties of friends and relatives. Bruce (the owner) is so easy to work with and very accomodating. We all enjoyed our stay there--we were a party of 10--family and close friends. We enjoyed the few meals where we ate out, but the best times were preparing meals at the house, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful ammeneties that were provided. The photos of the home and the video tour are completely accurate and give you a great idea of what you will see when you get there. If you rent the lower level with the upper level you also gain extra privacy for guests who are staying in the lower level. It would be a great place to put families with young children as it would give them a quiet place, and give the guests on the main floor some privacy as well. I would rent this property again--and recommend it to any of my friends who might be traveling to the Big Island!

The location of this rental property was perfect for our active family. It is nicely situated in a quite neighborhood on a hill with an ocean view. There is so much to do on the Big Island. We took a helicopter ride over the active volcano one day and drove to the observatories the next. After such exciting outings it was wonderful to come back to a luxury house and swim in our own pool instead of sharing it with dozens of other tourists. The beds were comfortable and we slept well since the house is away from the hotel crowds. We cooked several meals in the well stocked kitchen-wish my own was as large. The rental is very close to town, just a few minutes away, so we ate out, too. The property is close to many beaches and other attractions. I think I have such fond memories of that trip partly because we had a wonderful stay in the house and if I had a choice of picking this rental or a condo or hotel on a return visit, I would definitely choose to stay there again. It was clean, beautifully furnished and decorated and a great value in our opinion.

Bruce and Family: Our 3rd stay here and definitely the best. Jesse our son was married in a lovely ceremony on KiiKi'o Beach. We hosted a small reception here. The home's spaciousness helped my niece, Austin, get around in her wheelchair, and she loved the pool. Many lovely memories, mahalo!

Thank you for allowing our family to make "our home" in Kona at your beautiful home. We had a very comfortable time in your home. We certainly enjoyed the lovely decor and watching the ocean and sunset from the Lanai. What a wonderful paradis you have here! We were here to enjoy the 25th Ironman. The Launs have had a busy week here. We enjoyed the pool and even had a luau with our 25 friends and family that were here to watch the Ironman. It was so nice of your family to share your home.
